From a user's perspective, and to refer to Saint's nice iLike theme, I
see another use case. For example, he provided me with a modified
version of that theme some time ago, that displays the absolute volume
setting in dB while changing volume.

The Apple firmware on iPods doesn't do this, so it's clear to me why he
doesn't want that feature to be enabled by default, but for me it's
highly useful. And instead of having several versions of the theme, this
could be handled by such a settings file.

Of course, this could also be handled by changing the WPS a bit,
possibly by commenting uncommenting some lines, but that isn't really
nice in terms of usability, and it would be reset every time I update
the theme. Writing a theme config file probably won't be an issue to
most users who would like to enable this kind of advanved features,
trying to understand this insane WPS syntax definitely is.

This might over-complexify some WPS lines for the theme authors, but as
long as it's optional...

+1 from me.
