I am all in favour of eventually changing the default for targets *when they are ready*. But while it is possible to get stuck in any screen (except the panic screen) I am strongly against changing the default. Now, I've already said how to resolve this and I'm perfectly happy if some targets are grid and some are absolute, and even if the absolute ones need to force grid for some of the less important screen *as long as the user is clearly told about this*.
