To make this analogous to the resume feature, imagine if the browser would sometimes open in the location of the currently playing song, and sometimes in the root, depending on which song was playing, and you had no way of knowing where it would be until you pressed select and found out. Currently at least, the "follow playlist" option will always cause the exact same behaviour - show you the file browser with the current song selected. It doesn't change from track to track.
