The bitmap data is 4x bigger (see MWIMAGEBITS in [1]), but the other data stays the same. Depending on the font size the bitmap data can be rather negligible. Converting SansDroid.ttf (from android) in size 15 grows from 225k (mono) to 245k (alpha).
