One idea I had which might feed into this was to unify the file/database
browsers by having a query file format which would execute a query and
produce the resulting playlist (for further browsing).

With a bit more minor tweaking (differentiate SELECT to play and RIGHT to
enter where keys allow), we'd have a browser that would consistently browse
subdirectories/playlists/queries. This unified approach should lead to
simpler code in general, and hopefully improve support for bookmarks and
voice UI when dealing with the database.

http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,27017.0.html is the discussion
page.

It definitely needs more thought (particularly if we want to support
subqueries) but might be an achievable GSOC project in itself, as well as
being one input for a larger database redesign project.
