You can repartition and reformat it as FAT32 and everything will work just fine. You do have to change the partition type currently, though, since exFAT uses type 7. I submitted a patch which removes partition type dependencies from Rockbox but it got reverted by someone because it broke mounting superfloppy-formatted SD cards for some people.
