Current version on gerrit allows to build targets the old way or with
new elfloader. I don't see the problem here.
The lack of maintainer for MIPS port is more general problem. In my
opinion we should try to not break it but if no tests means hindering
mainline development we should simply go on and wait for bug report.
More or less this is what happened to nano2g - we offer known good
version while development builds are known to be broken. Hopefully
someone skilled will take the opportunity and fix it in the future.
Generally I think we should introduce new category for ports -
unmaintained.
