FS#10929 - Main Menu - FM Tuner missing for Gigabeat S60

Hi,

Installed RockBox on my Toshiba Gigabeat S60 last night. Manual said there should be a Main Menu Item for FM Tuner. It was not there, nor was there a space in the menu for it.

However when I went to settings and changed “Start Page” there was an item called FM Tuner, which I selected. When I rebooted the player, it went to a blank RockBox page, whirred for about 10 seconds, and powered off. this was repeatable.

I had to go into USB mode and delete the .Rockbox folder from the main partition and re-copy (extract) to the partition from my PC to recreate the RockBox files.

Some follow up here….

I reinstalled the current build, and now I can see FM Radio in the main menu, but, now its behavior is very erractic. Some times when I try to go into the FM Radio….I end up at a blank RockBox screen and am basically frozen.

Other times I can get the FM station screen to come up, but no audio reception. The presets work, and the scan mode works, but no audio.

Other times I can get the FM station screen to come up, but the audio is almost all static and hardly any audio can be heard.

Other times it works perfectly. Audio is rock solid. Tuning is perfect….

Anything I can do to help nail this down ?

Hi,

On a whim, tonite I went back to build r24365 to see if the FM radio worked any better than the most current builds, in which it was having stability issues for me….

Turns out, the FM Radio is solid in this build….well at least right now it is. I have power cycled battery off, battery on…normal shut down….added presets…deleted presets…. Still solid. Tuning is locked on.

Ok, so now its not working again….same as before…. sometimes it works…sometimes it static….sometimes it goes to a black rockbox screen and freezes after you hear the hard drive whirr for a few seconds…

Build r24445 has made significant FM radio stability improvements.

Not sure what you guys did, but its almost perfect for the FM radio. It was even able to recover its playing after losing it for a short time. Going back and forth between the player and the FM Radio it was very good at coming back to the radio signals and playback.

went thru the normal series of variations and this build was far better than anything else I have tried since coming to RockBox recently.

Player playback had one momentary tiem where the scroller got funky, but power cycling the S60 fixed that back up. Radio came back. Even Black screen freezes seem fixed. Great job you guys !!
