FS#6099 - tagcache initialization fails in recent rockbox builds

It seems that something has caused tagcache initialization to fail in more recent builds of rockbox. I have a iAudio X5 that about 5000 ogg files on it, sorted in the way of folders by artist and then album. When I try to initialize the tagcache, it begins and gets around 700 entries in the tagcache debug menu when it suddenly stops with the following error message:

I 41: PDIR2FULL at 0×000000 ←– (I forgot to count the zero’s, but there were all zero)

The player then needs to be reset.

It seems that this has shown up sometimes after September 1st. If I use the daily from September 1st, it successfully builds the database. If I put the September 9th daily on it gets the above behavior. I would have tried to narrow it down to a more specific day, but it my player ran out of battery at the moment. So it is sometime between those days.

Note that I can use the database built on the 1st (with even the daily from September 30th), but I’m positive if I would tell it to update that it would fail.

Reason for closing:  Fixed

That crash is probably caused by a bug in the metadata parser when it reads file metadata. Try to find out which file causes it to crash and then provide that file to developers for inspection.

OK, I’d be glad to try this out, but is there a good way to figure this out? I have a few thousand songs on the device?

OK. I have found the file that is causing the problem. I’m attaching the file here for solving the problem, not for to distribute music. AFAIK it seems to be a normal file.

Should be fixed now, thanks.
