I'll be playing through an album, and at some point in the middle of a song, the iPod will stop responding to commands. The screen does not update (so it appears as though nothing is happening) but the music keeps playing, so it's hard to notice until you actually try to lower the volume or turn it off or something involving controls. The backlight will activate on contact, but otherwise the device is unresponsive. It keeps playing music (even loading the next track and such) until eventually (usually within an hour) it comes back to life spontaneously, at which point it can be turned off.

FS#6395  is almost exactly the same as this one, except I most definitely don't regain control through any means. Can't reset, can't change volume, nothing.

i had the same problem, 1 "fix" for it would be to hit Select after you play the song and bring it back a page to where you choose songs, for some reason it never froze for me on any screen that wasn't the Now Playing screen. Or just get a new daily build, i downloaded the newer version and my ipod hasn't froze once.

I am seeing the exact same problem with my 80GB ipod video, with the current svn 64MB build (23 May 20:51).

After the UI locks up the DAP continues playing fine, but until just before the UI starts responding again then the audio will cut out and return again (like buffer under runs) a few times then the UI starts responding again.

Even more interesting is that I can repeat the lockup at will by starting a song playing then going in to the rockbox credits screen, by screen then stops updateing after about 150 names, but I have got as far as 230 manes into the credits before the screen stops updating.

I'm also expericing this issue with the 80gb ipod video. The UI locks up on the now playing screen but music continues to play. If I leave the ipod on any other screen apart from the now playing it won't lockup.

i've seen this and various other lock ups on my ipod 80gb. sad, rockbox was looking like such a no-brainer. if these types of lock up problems are not fixed, i'll have to switch back to apple firmware. i volunteer my services and ipod, if there's any debug builds, or testing i can do.

i fixed my problems with lockups by creating the following patch:

Some changes were committed that could have solved this, does it still happen?

I have not seen the problem since the screen speed update commits, but as it was quite random and some days it would not happen at all and other days it would happen 2 or 3 times its hard for me
to be 100% sure.

So far thinks are looking good to me though.
