13142BugsDriversVery LowSD card not recognized2017-12-26Florian Snow12020-07-24 Task Description

I use a 64 GB MicroSD card in my Clip Zip and the stock firmware recognizes it. Rockbox recognizes it in the debug disk info screen and when connected to a computer via USB, I can read and write it through rockbox. However, when I try to access it or when I just check the regular rockbox info, rockbox does not show the SD card, nor can I play music from it.

The bug is also present in the current development version and is overall very similar to this one: https://www.rockbox.org/tracker/11798

I tried reinstalling rockbox and reformatting the SD card, but nothing worked.

If I can collect some logs or screenshot pleas tell me how I will do it.

13044BugsOperating System/DriversVery LowHOLD Switch Does Not Work2015-05-04Riku Kawai12015-07-17 Task Description

On my iPod Classic (160GB), the hold switch is not being detected anymore by Rockbox.
Switching the hold switch does cause the buttons to stop responding and vice versa, but Rockbox is unaware of this event and continues to act as if it didn't happen. My backlight won't turn off when I switch hold like it's supposed to, and I can't exit plugins that have a hold switch activated menu like RockBoy.

I am using build c3c2c91, I just updated today.
This bug has been present since as early as January, and I am aware that a task already exists for it, but it's buried deep because the poster marked it as Low severity.

13054BugsFM TunerVery Lowsansa clip zip radio low volume2015-08-20koniu12016-08-18 Task Description

Heyup,

I’ve recently updated the build on my zip and the radio volume is greatly reduced. It`s very noticeable since I use a passive speaker connected straight to the player (top volume required). Volume of file playback is unaffected.

Here’s someone describing the same issue-
http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=74910

Same symptoms including (notably) normal volume in the recording screen (gain=0), and region settings make no difference.

I have no note of which build I had before the update but it was from around the end of 2014. Looking thru the changelog yielded no clues.

7546PatchesApplicationsVery LowRockboy LCD Unifications (+ iPod Greyscale Support)2007-08-06Tom Ross12007-10-192 Task Description

The patch reorganizes Rockboy to use the same method for storing GB frame buffer data on greyscale targets as color targets. As a result, support for greyscale iPods is much easier and has been implemented (inspired by FS #5282).

Some other changes include:
- Enable the menu for iRiver H100
- Ability to “Show Stats” on all targets
- Screen is redrawn all at once on greyscale instead of line by line
- Elimination of fb.mode (all targets use options.scaling for scaling options)
- Elimination of fb.cc on non-color targets
- Minor variable renaming
- Unification of LCD variables (vdest vs frameb)
- Move greyscale LCD code into lcd.c
- ifdef out vid_update() on greyscale and color targets

Since I don’t have an iPod, I’m curious to see how well this works. It should be fine since the patch my work is based on seems to work for people.

I really need iRiver H1X0 users to test this. There are significant changes to the LCD code and I’d like to know if the is any speed change, whether its an improvement or not. I’d guess that it’s slightly faster or the same as SVN but there’s always a chance that it is slower.

If you’re willing to produce a Human voice file (spoken by you or someone you know), this script will be particularly helpful. It expects you to put it in a directory with a subdirectory containing .wav files for all voice strings, named by the contents of the string (this will be problematic on FAT/NTFS, but could be fixed).

When run, it will check to see if all needed strings are available, and if they are, it will generate a voice-file for all targets. If they aren’t, it will print out a list of strings missing (to be recorded and put in the subdirectory). This list will also be put in the file “missingstrings.txt”, one on each line.

This might be suitable for inclusion in tools/

Edit: Script deleted. Will upload again soonish.

On the Sansa C240 V1, to switch on the line level audio output on the dock connector pin 8 needs to go high. So jumping 3V+ from pin 22 will activate the line level audio. This works fine with the Sansa firmware but Rockbox produces no sound through the line level outputs on the C240, with pin 8 jumped or not jumped.

Rockbox Version:r16780-080324

Description:
If the “Bookmark on Stop” option is set to “Yes” and there is no free space left on the storage, rockbox freezes/takes a REALLY long time if pressing the Poweoff(=Stop) button, because it cannot save the bookmark(or has to push out the less recent?).

I wondered why rockbox crashed if doing this til I discovered this bug.

Expected behavoiur: Instantls notify user there’s no space left and don’t save the bookmark

How to reproduce:
1. Power on the player, launch rockbox. Make sure there’s enough disk space.
2. Go Settings→General Settings→Bookmarking→Bookmark on Stop→Set to “Yes” 3. Reboot, connect to PC
4. Create a text file which is big enough to consume the rest of your free disk space
5. Restart Sansa into rockbox
6. Play a track

Hi,

There is a compilation problem when the environment variable BLOCK_SIZE is set. It gave me errors about a comma.

This can be set or cleared systematically or on a command by command basis.

Suggestion one; unset BLOCK_SIZE and its relatives high in the build chain, but be prepared for POSIX to bite with 512 byte blocks.

Suggestion two; set LS_BLOCK_SIZE=1 high in the build chain. (And DF_BLOCK_SIZE=1024 and DU_BLOCK_SIZE=1024 ?)

Suggestion three; edit apps/lang/Makefile so that

$(SILENT)echo “#define MAX_LANGUAGE_SIZE `ls -ln $(OBJDIR)/* | awk ‘{print $$5}’ | sort -n | tail -1`” > $(HEADER)

becomes

$(SILENT)echo “#define MAX_LANGUAGE_SIZE `ls -ln –block-size=1 $(OBJDIR)/* | awk ‘{print $$5}’ | sort -n | tail -1`” > $(HEADER)

or

$(SILENT)echo “#define MAX_LANGUAGE_SIZE `LS_BLOCK_SIZE=1 ls -ln $(OBJDIR)/* | awk ‘{print $$5}’ | sort -n | tail -1`” > $(HEADER)

Suggestion four; just tell people that they are not allowed to have commas in their core utilities output (and be prepared to be bitten badly if the default block size ever changes).

BTW I *like* having thousands separators on my command line, so I have

export BLOCK_SIZE=\'1
export DF_BLOCK_SIZE=\'M

in my /etc/bashrc file.

9356PatchesApplicationsVery LowAllow to set the delay before button repeat is activate...2008-09-02Alexander Levin12008-09-031 Task Description

The patch allows to set the delay after which the button repeat event is generated. Since this event is used to detect a long button press, it effectively sets this 'threshold.'

Slow fingered users may often hold the select button too long and (unintentionally) get the context menu. For instance, from the WPS screen. But they actually wanted to go to the file browser.

The patch adds a setting for that delay. Its default value is 30 ticks (=0.3s). The menu entry is in Settings → General Settings → System → Long Button Press Duration.

10089BugsUser InterfaceVery LowScrolling doesn't pause at the top or bottom of a list ...2009-04-02Bertram Bourdrez12009-04-02 Task Description

I’ve been reliably informed that Rockbox should stop scrolling when it gets to the bottom or top of a menu, only to wrap around when you initiate a new scrolling gesture. On a 2nd Generation iPod, however, it just keeps scrolling.

See http://bertram.bourdrez.org/buggyrockbox.avi (the video is recorded with an old Rockbox, but 3.2-090323 does the same thing)

Also, the bug tracking system is overcomplicated. I have to register an account?!
“Why the hell should *I* set up an account? It’s not like any bugs will be assigned to me or anything. Just store my e-mail address and move on. It’s completely fucking bogus that I should have to go digging through my mail for confirmation passwords.” (http://zork.net/~sneakums/fortunes/gar/215)

Then I have to click a link with a magic number in it *as well as* having to enter a confirmation code from the same email (!?) and then when I’ve finished, I’m not even logged in! I have to log in with the same password I just set! Can’t it just set a cookie?

10181PatchesFM TunerVery LowAllow the FM region to be set from a FMR file2009-05-01Alexander Levin12009-05-142 Task Description

Since FM stations list may require that the FM region is set to a certain value, it would be good if the FM region could be set along with the station list. The patch does just that.

The region is set by putting the line “region:N” into the FMR file (at any line there). N can be one of the values allowed for the fm_region setting.

The patch does not work on the simulators for e200 and h120 (the only two I tried) because, for some reason, the symbol HAVE_RADIO_REGION is not defined for them. Could anybody tell why?

Saving the region along with the station list is not implemented.

This patch implements a menu function to the playlist viewer's contextual menu that moves the selected track after the current playing track. It is especially useful as a simple queuing method.

I have tried to properly handle the situation in which the current playing track is the last in the playlist, but since I don't know exactly how (when) the playlist indexes are updated I wasn't able to do much in that respect, any help is very welcomed.

Since this patch adds the LANG_MOVE_AFTER_CURRENT string, I have also attached a diff with updates to the English and the Romanian translation file.

This isn't a big problem because the MR-100 won't turn on if the hold switch is already engaged.

But if the user turns on the MR-100 and then engages the hold switch while the M:Robe logo is on the screen, a "Hold switch is on Shutting down…" message is displayed, but it does not shut down.

A reset is required at this point - disengaging the hold switch and holding down the power button in this state does not shut down the MR-100.

10807BugsOperating System/DriversVery LowRockbox will get stuck in the main menu if disconnected...2009-11-23Shai Ben-Naphtali12009-11-23 Task Description

I noticed, that every time I’m in the car listening to music, and I disconnect the iPod 30G (5th gen), while its playing, and I then try to shut it down, it’ll jump to the main window and will not move away from it.

From this point on, I cannot turn off the device nor more away from the main window. Only a HR will resolve this and let the iPod come back to normal working order.

Further more, while it is in that situation (which it is right now, while I write this), the device won’t even go on sleep or turn off the monitor. So basically, it’ll stay with the screen wide awake and lit up.

The two only buttons that will work are the Hold button, which will in turn, turn off the screen and the scroll will allow me to scroll up and down and around on the main window.

Q: What sort of car connection do you use? Line-out+power, or MSC? Or the accessory
I’m not familiar with these connection and their types. All I know is that it is connected to the car stereo from back (ie. the stereo was pull out and the adapter was connected in the back). Also, that it is a connection that connects to the bottom of the iPod (ie. flat and wide connection). It gives me control from the car’s stereo and the steering wheel. When I bought it and then they hooked it up, they told me this is an iPod adapter.

This DOES NOT happen if first stop the music and go to another menu BEFORE I disconnect it from the adapter.

This appears to happen only on the simulator, as of r29012.

Fill a directory with, say, some .s3m files and .mod files. Mikmod plugin chokes on calloc (virtch.c, line 1227) during MikMod_Init() sequence.

Remove the .mod files and the plugin loads and works properly.

Reverting the change made to viewers.config in r29012 seems to fix this. I'm guessing the problem is somehow related to the way mod is both playable and viewable, but there's nothing obviously wrong with viewers.config that I can see. Maybe the buffers are getting screwed up somewhere in filetypes.c?

Hardware: Clip+ 8GB using internal memory
Problem: Playback of most APE files results into passages of loud noise during playback. The music is totally gone and noise is ear deafening loud. When rewinding, till music is heard, and replaying the problem part, error can be reproduced _sometimes_.
In other cases it either runs fine, or the problem occurs elsewhere in the file.

Since the problem does not always occur in a specific part of a APE file, it is hard to attach a sample file.

Problem persisted between ape files encoded in high and normal setting.
Using winamp + monkey audio 3.99 APE plugin, these files never shown problems.

12191PatchesDriversVery LowHigher quality audio hw settings for AS3515 (Clipv1, Fu...2011-07-17Stefan Keller12011-07-293 Task Description

This patch changes some of the settings of the AS3515 to highest audio quality, similar to  FS#11304  but for AMSv1.

AUDIOSET2_IBR_DAC_50 → AUDIOSET2_IBR_DAC_0

0% reduction (instead of 50%) of DAC bias. This will probably increase power consumption.

Not set AUDIOSET3_IBR_HPH.

Increases HP amp bias. Recommended by the data sheet for 16Ohm loads (and will probably reduce THD).

Would be great if these settings could be changed during audio playback to listen for any actual changes in quality :)

Update to my tools/talkclips.py script. Minor updates which include:
- Better handling of logfile eg. we don't leave it open as was the case
before
- Report a few more details in the log eg. start/end time, duration, and
number of talk clips created. This is useful to dettect how many files
had problems…
- Summarise output for user at end, of processing, number of talkclips
created and how long this took (in seconds).
- Report to user how many talk clips will need to be created to give
them an indication of potential waiting time etc. This is calculated by
first determining how many files are on the device excluding .talk files, and how many .talk
files there are, and calculating the difference.
- This information allows a percentage indication to be drawn throughout
the script, so now the user can track the percentage as processing takes
place.

Patch is attached.

Thanks.

The .ape file I join make rockbox produce a horrible noise (like random audio) when seeking inside it. The original file was very large, so I created this one with:
dd if=original.ape of=test.ape bs=512 count=1000
So the produced file may not be correct, but it plays correctly in rockbox, and reproduces the bug, so I join it…
