9673PatchesPluginsVery LowImprove mpegplayer ( add pitch )2008-12-19Sanggon, Lee2008-12-191 Task Description

I found  FS#8521 (permanent pitch setting) can successfully combined with mpeg player.
Add  FS#8521  and some fix, we can use pitch function in mpeg player. This means, we can control mpeg play speed.

With  FS#8894 (speed control without pitch change) can produce similar effect and more attractive, but  FS#8894  have serious problem with gigabeat s30 and require more processer power and have lower sound quality.

This patch can patched with  FS#8607 (mpegplayer playlist).

I was reading http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=17079.0 and thought I’d take a swing at it. So far, I have added (potentially shaky?) support for the ‘#’ comments in the file posted, allowing both Windows and Linux line ending formats, and longer filename support.
Still having problems with the white space after each entry, and detecting or assuming the presence of the file extension.

9861PatchesPluginsVery LowPlugin for flash card memorizing: mnemosyne2009-02-02Joseph Garvin72009-04-161 Task Description

This is a new plugin that mimics the open source PC program mnemosyne (http://www.mnemosyne-proj.org/), a program that assists with memorizing flash cards. The plugin is fully functional, but it still needs a menu and assumes that the user has setup the folders it needs for storing cards before running (if you don’t create them it will crash). I’ll fix these issues in the near future, but in the mean time any feedback is appreciated :)

9879PatchesPluginsVery LowQuit the lamp plugin by pressing a dedicated QUIT butto...2009-02-07Alexander Levin32009-02-091 Task Description

As of r19940, the lamp plugin is quit by pressing any key besides some which have a function in that plugin (or so is the intention –see bug report  FS#9877 ).

This patch changes the plugin so that it’s left with a special button only. The patch also adds key definitions for some players that haven’t been included before (players without color LCD). Key mappings were taken from the patch in FS#8934.

Essentially, this patch implements an atomic part of that patch.

Also, correct handling of USB has been added.

This is in preparation of a (separate) patch for toggling the light on and off without leaving the plugin.

9881PatchesPluginsVery LowEnable toggling the lamp on and off in the lamp plugin2009-02-07Alexander Levin12009-02-082 Task Description

This patch is a continuation of FS#9879 and includes it (but adds something more). It adds the possibility to switch the lamp on and off without leaving the plugin.

Key mappings were taken from FS#8934.

9953PatchesPluginsVery LowAdd Playback Control to more plugins2009-02-25Joshua Simmons142009-03-2315 Task Description

I’ve noticed that many plugins don’t have the Playback Control menu even though they could. I’m going to have a go at fixing that.

I’ve categorised the plugins which could use the menu like so:

Already have a standard-ish menu (not bitmap), it just needs to be added:
bubbles
chessbox
chopper
minesweeper
reversi
superdom
wormlet
xobox
clock
fireworks
vu_meter

These are the easiest case, it’s just a matter of adding the menu item.

Don’t have a menu that makes sense to add Playback Control to (either they don’t have a menu at all, or they only have a start-menu that can’t be usefully returned to):
flipit
invadrox
maze
robotfindskitten
rockblox
rockblox1d
rocklife
sliding_puzzle
snake
snake2
spacerocks
star
stopwatch
mandelbrot
oscilloscope

These are a mixed bunch. Some could actually use a menu, and some could just have a key assigned to bring up the Playback Control menu. More involved than the first bunch in general.

Already have a menu, but it’s really custom in some way. They either need to be switched to more standard menus, or something special needs to be done:
brickmania
chessclock
pegbox
rockpaint

These will probably be the most work.

Let me know if I forgot any plugins, or if you think it doesn’t make sense to add the menu to a plugin that I’ve listed above.

Attached is a patch for the first bunch. The others will be coming eventually.

I’d appreciate it if you leave this FS entry open until I get to the second and third bunch, even if the first bunch happens to get commited to svn.

10022PatchesPluginsVery LowBeatbox fix2009-03-14Tony Huynh172009-06-227 Task Description

This should hopefully make beatbox compile and run on any target with enough buttons.

All it needed was some key mappings (and some typo fixes). I’m assuming the function declaration for synthSamaples() simply changed over time, as the original code was missing an ‘s’ on the end of function name and looked like this:

  synthSamples(&synthtemp[0], &synthtemp[1]);

The second param should be the sample size or something, but it was passed an address.

If it doesn’t work on a particular target due to lack of a key map, please add one, or tell me the target and i’ll stick a keymap in ^_^

Patch from within root rockbox source folder.

Hopefully this works for you all, its many hours of fun =D

10461PatchesPluginsVery LowSupport for custom drawing of styled/scrolled text in p...2009-07-24Andrew Mahone2009-09-141 Task Description

Add support for two new scroll styles, STYLE_NODRAW and STYLE_CUSTOM, with STYLE_CUSTOM causing the draw to be done via a hook (set with lcd_set_style_hook). lcd_puts_stroll_style_offset also returns a struct scrollinfo pointer. This may be used in conjunction with STYLE_NODRAW to redraw the scrolling text in a plugin which draws other graphics to the same part of the screen, by drawing the text using the offset in the struct scrollinfo after the background graphics have been drawn. My latest patch from  FS#4817  is required, as it consolidates styled text drawing in one function, making it easier to replace the normal draw with a call to the hook, and reducing the binsize impact of this feature as well.

Support for core text scrolling in PictureFlow plugin to follow .

I've started to write a new game, which is similiar to the popular freeware game Icytower. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icy_Tower)
The basic game engine is ready, but there is much work on the adaption to the targets, so that the difficulty is likely.
By now I used just wildcards for the player and the floors, because I'm not talented in drawing something. I hope you can help me with the images.

I'm looking forward for any feedback.

10581PatchesPluginsVery LowSeparate backlight setting for viewer2009-09-03Crend King52009-09-041 Task Description

Hello! I made this patch to add a separate backlight setting for the viewer plugin. By default the viewer plugin use Rockbox global backlight setting. For battery life, the backlight length would be usually too short in viewer, since reading a page may take more than 10 seconds. Bring the backlight on again by pressing buttons or wheel could be painful since it may cause unwanted effects (e.g. scroll to top/bottom of the text).

I added two options: Use global setting (default) and Always on. When setting to "Use global setting", everything should remain the same as before. When setting to "Always on", the backlight should never dim off. Changing the option during reading will immediately applies effect. I use the helper functions "backlight_use_settings" and "backlight_force_on" to achieve this.

Warning: since I changed the preference struct, after installing the new viewer.rock, all previous viewer setting will be abandoned and revert to default settings. You can backup your old viewer.dat (36 bytes), wait the new viewer.dat (40 bytes) be generated, and overwrite the first 36 bytes from the old viewer.dat to restore the setting. I don't know if there is a painless way for the transition. Suggestions are welcomed.

Thank you!

10590BugsPluginsVery LowAliasing when playing MIDI files on iPod 5G2009-09-06kzuse222012-05-163 Task Description

Starting from the daily build from mid August (can’t exactly say when, because I don’t play MIDIs so often), the MIDI playback on my iPod 5G 30GB sounds distorted, especially the Piano sample.

It sounds as if the higher frequencies are chopped of and instead replaced by “alias frequencies”. Maybe something has been messed up in the mixing routine concerning decimation filter / interpolation.

I am using the original patchset provided here at rockbox.org.

Maybe somebody could check this - thank you!

Keep up the great work!

11031BugsPluginsVery LowBrickmania: Game doesn't load well2010-02-17Tomer Shalev32010-02-192 Task Description

When loading a saved Brickmania game, the game is loaded corrupted. Please see screenshot attached to see for yourself. There is one brick in the right side which is shown corrupted, and one corrupted rectangle in the left side of the screen which drops like a power object, and stays at the bottom of the screen.

This issue happens on Cowon D2 target. It doesn't happen on the D2's simulator.

Looking at the code and comparing the loading/saving function against the Bubble's game functions, I can see that the return value of file operations is not checked (I'll fix that).
In Bubbles, there's a single file operation of reading/writing the game context struct. In Brickmania there are several consequent file operation to read/write each variable. Maybe the drivers doesn't handle this well on this target. A workaround for that could possibly be to join all saved variables under one game context struct as in Bubbles, but that could mask a real bug somewhere else.

11286BugsPluginsVery LowPictureFlow segfault when showing tracklist or playing ...2010-05-17Chris Savery42010-05-251 Task Description

I've been working on PictureFlow - WPS Integration. I repeatedly had cases where showing a tracklist or playing for certain albums would cause a segfault. I tracked this down to a bug in the track list indexing. It only occurs under certain memory allocation circumstances that doesn't occur as readily with the std build. I have attached here a patch to fix it.

Explanation: the create_track_index requests memory for building a track index. The variable "tracks" references an array descending from the buffer top end. When a reallocation occurs it currently only moves the "tracks" position when a track count > 0. However, in some cases a reallocation occurs before the first track is stored and in that case the "tracks" position gets left in the middle of the track_names data causing corruption and then segfault. I've moved the (track_count > 0) decision so that it only controls moving tracks struct data. The "tracks" offset must happen even when track_count is 0.

This patch fixes the segfault on my Sansa Fuze v2 and in UISim. Tested against r26114.
I would expect the same result in other platforms.

I've also included this bug fix in my PictureFlow - WPS Integration patch until this bug fix gets accepted.

11864PatchesPluginsVery LowWorking LUA Flashcard Program2011-01-07Steve42011-04-294 Task Description

I have written a basic flashcard program for LUA and am attaching source code and an example data file. I am using a Sansa Clip+ so YMMV. It uses ANKI format text files which are tab delimited txt. You may use UTF8 for the flashcard if you have your device set as such. To use, save the two included text files in the same directory and run. The card data file, Russian.txt, is a typically UTF8 encoded text file exported straight from ANKI with no modifications. I am using a size 8-fixed font in the screen shots.

Things I would like to see done:

1. Making the code more generic to run on all rockbox platforms.

2. If someone would tell me how to play vorbis files from LUA on a clip+, I might be able to implement playing the vocabulary words as they are displayed on the device. I am already parsing the audio file names from the database, but I need a function to play them.

3. If LUA/Rockbox supported SQLite, It might be possible to read and write native ANKI database with scheduling information. This would facilitate programming of advanced flashcard scheduling for efficient learning.

4. A menu to select different databases.

Looking forward to feedback!

11866BugsPluginsVery LowMikmod segfaults when playing a directory which contain...2011-01-11Jason Yu12011-01-11 Task Description

This appears to happen only on the simulator, as of r29012.

Fill a directory with, say, some .s3m files and .mod files. Mikmod plugin chokes on calloc (virtch.c, line 1227) during MikMod_Init() sequence.

Remove the .mod files and the plugin loads and works properly.

Reverting the change made to viewers.config in r29012 seems to fix this. I'm guessing the problem is somehow related to the way mod is both playable and viewable, but there's nothing obviously wrong with viewers.config that I can see. Maybe the buffers are getting screwed up somewhere in filetypes.c?

11989PatchesPluginsVery LowContacts plugin written in LUA2011-03-03Gabriel Maia82011-04-163 Task Description

Rockbox already exists for several years (fortunately), however it doesn't include a contacts list plugin by default, most likely because no one had coded one until now. As it's something that sometimes becomes handy, I decided to write my own, and as it's a simple enough plugin I've written it in LUA, to serve the purpose of a contacts plugin, to have a working example of a LUA plugin (that is not a game) and to explore the (im)possibilities of the LUA interpreter of Rockbox.

So this task will handle the development of a contacts plugin. Attached goes a BETA (but already very complete) version of the plugin. Just copy to your device (any location) and "play" the file.
The database where the contacts are stored is located at the root of your player, in a file called contacts.txt. The name and location of this file is subject to change in future versions, but the way contents are stored will probably keep being the same, so you can start adding your contacts (you can edit the file in the PC as long as you keep the format valid for LUA interpretation).

Key features (already implemented):
- View first, middle and last name of the contacts just after you open the plugin (fixed name order)
- Add contacts (lots of fields, I won't be adding more for now)
- Delete contacts (permanently and without confirmation, take care)
- View contact fields (after selecting it in the menu)
- View specific fields in their own screen (where you can also clear and, in the future, edit them)
- (Should be) Compatible with any Rockbox target that interprets LUA because the interface is entirely made of standard RB menus
- Works (at least) on my iPod Nano 2nd Gen
- Wonderful LACK OF warranty that it will work or that the plugin won't delete your contacts accidentally. Use keeping in mind this is a BETA version

To be implemented (for sure):
- Edit contacts
To be implemented (when I have time):
- Order the way names are displayed (e.g. first→middle→last to last→first→middle)
- Search for contacts by inputing part of any of the fields content
- Order contacts by categories (that's why there's a "Category" field on them)
To be implemented (if my programming skills allow it):
- Associate a image file to a contact, which will be shown when the contact is selected (and if someone codes it, why not a pictureflow of contacts?)
- Import and export contacts as vCards
- More configurable settings

Another additional note is that the current code of the plugin is not in agreement with the Rockbox coding style guidelines, I've tried to keep the number of chars in each line under 80, but there are lines where this is false. Also, the tabs are double-space instead of four spaces. This will be corrected when I finish the plugin.

Please test on your player and share the results, as well as any bugs or suggestions you might find.

12029PatchesPluginsVery LowSDL_PAD keymaps for plugins on SDLAPP build without TOU...2011-03-25Don Heyse2011-03-251 Task Description

If you build RaaA for SDL with HAVE_TOUCHSCREEN disabled there are no key bindings for the SDL_PAD in any of the plugins. This patch attempts to define generic key mappings for the 3×3 number pad on a typical PC keyboard. It needs work however. For instance, after a bit of testing I decided I’d prefer not to wait for a key repeat on the HOME button to quit most of the plugins. That said, it may prove a useful starting point developers building for RaaA platforms without a mouse or touchscreen. (Like me with the zipit.)

For the Zipit I plan to fix up the generic SDL keys first, testing on a real PC, and then try and figure out a way to use most of them as is. I’m not sure yet if it makes sense to define a ZIPIT_PAD for the few plugins where alternative keys make sense, or use some other #ifdef.

12398PatchesPluginsVery LowGive the random folder advance config a UI revamp2011-11-21Jonathan Gordon22011-11-211 Task Description

This uses the same code as FS#12330 but uses it for the random folder advance config plugin instead.

I've nuked the entire plugin so not everything is reimplemented yet but it currently works.

Two problems:
1) it uses the \t code in the lists which isnt great (indented lines which try to scroll don't quite work and it is not implemented for the skinned list yet)
2) It cant be used to select a whole sub tree, so if you have thousands of folders it will be very tedious to select them all.

12541BugsPluginsVery LowLrc Plugin crashes.2012-01-16Eddy Summers42012-01-28 Task Description

I have a Sansa Clip+, Clip Zip and Fuze V2 all running various RB versions. The crash happens on all of them.

To focus I will use the Clip Zip (as its close at hand) and tell you what it does.
I get:

Prefetch abort
at 9D8DE9B4
FSR 0x11
(domain 1, fault

on a white background screen

This happens when trying to use the lrc plugin on the clip zip running RB version 4.0 (r31646-120109) and accessing a sandisk 16gb sd card that is 12.5gb full.
But i can confirm i get this message (or a similar one) on my fuze v2 and clip+ which are running 'stable' albeit older versions of rockbox (again from sd cards). I mention the sd cards but im 90% sure it happens on songs on the internal memory also.

I suspect it has something to do with my mp3 files having lyrics embedded within them but not as .lrc files. All i can explain is this:
I use wiki lyrics to find lyrics for songs and then right click copy them and use Tag&Rename and Paste into the mp3 file and save.

Using this method works fine for displaying lyrics when using ipad2's stock music player (pre iOS5) and androids app Poweramp for Samsung galaxy S2 phones and Creatives Ziio 7 tablet (running poweramp). This method also works for my Pc when running foobar and using the 'TextDisplay' component. The Text Display Format in foobar settings are $if2(%unsynced lyrics%,No lyrics available)

It should be noted that when using poweramp and choosing 'Lyrics' it asks where u want to choose to read the lyrics from:
-Auto (from tags if available, otherwise via musixmatch plugin)
-Musixmatch plugin
-From tags

I select the last option (from tags) always and it never fails. ipads player seems to also use this method. The lyrics do not scroll automatically, u need to scroll up and down to read them (should they be longer than the visible screen).

Occasionally lrc plugin wont crash if it actually finds a lrc file embedded in song and works fine. But this rarely happens, perhaps only 10% of my collection has lrc files embedded within them, soon as it goes to next track without one it produces this error.

I just did it again for a different file and a different error.

Prefetch abort
at A0A0EE94
FSR 0x11
(domain 1, fault

and so on so forth.

12656BugsPluginsVery Lowrobotfindskitten game not working properly anymore2012-04-28Hugo Platzer2012-04-28 Task Description

After updating Rockbox from 3.10 to 3.11.2 on my Ipod Nano 1g i noticed the robotfindskitten game did not work as it should anymore. When robot has touched the first object, the text on the top does not change anymore when touching more objects until he finds kitten. The kitten animation also is hidden behind the text of the first object and the scrolling of the text starts at the end, not at the beginning.
I think it worked fine in 3.10, or at least in 3.9.

Please investigate this problem.
Thanks,
Hugo

12798BugsPluginsVery LowClip Zip's Text Viewer Bookmark Failure2013-01-06Vincent Huang2013-01-06 Task Description

The Clip Zip's text viewer does not bookmark anymore. When holding down the Submenu and Select keys (which according to the manual sets a bookmark), no bookmark is created, and the screen flashes between the context menu and the text file instead. This bug has been confirmed by skip252 here: [ http://anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?p=629493&posted=1#post629493 ].

Rockbox build is the latest dev build at the time of filing [62de15f-130103].

12807PatchesPluginsVery Low[WIP] New amiga music player plugin powered by UADE lib...2013-01-25Mauricio Garrido12013-07-191 Task Description

Hi there,

this is a WIP plugin that I wrote last year. It plays amiga music using the UADE library.
You can find more about it here: http://zakalwe.fi/uade/
I'm a bit new to git so please forgive me for not uploading a proper patch.
To test the plugin, simply copy the bitmap and rockuade folders to the plugins folder in
rockbox sources. And you have to extract the data.zip file in the .rockbox folder.
I'm not going to work on this anymore, so I decided to upload it here, and hope someone
can make a proper patch and maybe some dev would be interested in testing it, make
the necessary changes and upload an stable release.
Please read the README file for some additional info about the plugin.
  Tested on: samsungypr0, fuze+, fuzev2
