Sans Clip V2

24bit 96000 Hz 6 Channel (5.1) FLAC files skip to next song after 30 seconds. 30 seconds is an estimate because my screen is broken, so I can’t see what’s happening. I downloaded a daily build 3 days ago, but I think it’s a buffering issue. Flac is 8181 kbps (says Foobar).

It’s the first time I tried these files, so I don’t know if they ever worked, or ever will.
If they never will work, I’m sorry for reporting this.

Thank you all for your time and efforts.

12784BugsMusic playbackVery LowSansa Clip+ skips to next track while playing FLAC file...2012-11-25Swiez Utko32012-11-26 Task Description

Player: Sansa Clip+
FW: Rockbox 3.12, official stable build, but it happens on older versions too

While playing some FLAC file, RB skips to the next track automatically. I know there is a lot of similar bugs, but this is unique:)
Firstly, the problem is repeatable on my Clip. Skipping is always at one time, e.g. 00:19 for one file and 01:40 for other one. I think that these files are stored on corrupted part of SD card. OK, if it's corrupted then I have to buy a new one, but when I switch to original Sansa Clip+ firmware it play normally! At problematic places (00:19 or 01:40) there is a little 'click', but it continues to play. My conclusion is: if original FW handles such a files on bad memory, Rockbox should has workaround also.
Files are OK, when I copy them to internal memory, Rockbox plays continuously.
I didn't notice skipping of MP3 files on the same SD card, only with FLACs.
Computer players (e.g. AIMP) plays FLACs from this SD without any problems.

I've attached movies that presents the bug on 2 different tracks. Hope it helps.

12805BugsMusic playbackVery LowDigital squeaks on certain tracks while playback clip+2013-01-18Lorenzo2013-01-181 Task Description

Rockbox versions: all from 3.7 to 3.12

There are really loud and annoying digital squeaks during playback on some tracks only (wma 64-96kbps). Usually the noise occurs when one channel is silent or almost. The problem doesn't occur with the OF. It makes no difference where the song is stored (sd or internal memory). The same tracks play fine on the pc. I attach a portion of a song I've recorded while playing on the device where the noise can be clearly heard.

12816BugsMusic playbackVery LowSansa Clip Zip hangs after "resume playback"2013-01-29Christian Mertes2013-01-29 Task Description

Sometimes my Clip Zip gets in a state where I can resume playback after booting it but then it doesn’t let me seek anymore (seek thingy still moves but then jumps back to where it was, playback is totally unaffected which in this case is bad of course). I also can’t pause or skip. I can go back to the main menu but I can’t move the cursor or go back to the WPS. When I go into the playlist by long-pressing down, the list usually appears but is not functional although here I can usually move the cursor up and down (sometimes I only get a kind of frame but rendering freezes at that point). Trying to shut down lets the “shutting down” popup appear but that’s it.

I seem to remember that going via “recent bookmarks” once was a workaround but in the current state this doesn’t work either.

This broken states persists between shutdowns (or well, switch-offs more like since shutting down doesn’t work). I also tried to recreate the playlist but that didn’t help either so I’m currently stuck with a player that will play but I can’t it make change what to play. I will also have to listen to the same podcast over and over again since no new resume position is saved.

The build I use is 42a725f.

Oh and sorry I didn’t choose the right player. Couldn’t find any Sansa Clip in the list in fact :/

12864BugsMusic playbackVery LowAutomatic Resume behavior inconsistent on 3.132013-05-24Michael Bauminger112013-11-18 Task Description

This may be all players; I have only had experience with the Sansa Clip+ and Clip Zip. On version 3.13 the Automatic Resume feature works inconsistently, especially on the 2nd+ file of a playlist.

In version 3.11.2, the feature worked correctly on my Clip+. If I paused the player and the player turned off due to the timeout, when I turned the player back on and pressed the “Home” button or “Resume Playback”, the entire playlist would be back in place and playback would resume at the spot I paused. If I was 30 seconds into the third file in a playlist, playback would resume at that point. When that file finished, the next file in the playlist would start. Pressing “Previous” or “Next” would play the previous or next file in the playlist.

In version 3.13, this feature does not always work correctly. In fact, it rarely works correctly when playing a file that is not the first file in a playlist. Some times it works fine. Most times when I try to resume playback, it instead plays the beginning of the first track in the playlist. Some times when that happens, if I manually navigate to the track I was in when I paused, it will resume that track from the correct position rather than starting it over from the beginning.

This behavior is seriously agitating. I use my player to listen to multi-hour podcasts broken into separate files for each hour. If I get a phone call and pause my player I expect my player to automatically shut itself off after a few minutes, and it does. When I start the player again, I want to be able to pick up just where I left off. On versions prior to this, I could. In 3.13 it does not work 9 out of 10 times.

12943BugsMusic playbackVery LowReplayGain: Volume not adjusted if track/album _peak_ t...2014-01-19Crim Soukyuu2014-01-19 Task Description

I tested this on a clip+ (3.13) and creative zen (rev cc64d9e), so assuming it’s the same for all devices.

Following setup:
- ReplayGain is configured to “Track if Shuffle” - “Prevent clipping” is set to on/off, does not matter

How to reproduce:
- make a copy of any RG scanned file which has track/album gain and peak tags
- remove the peak tags _only_, leaving gain tags intact

Expected result:
- player should be able to adjust the volume, but not prevent clipping

Actual result:
- player does not apply neither track not album gain.

Files containing only gain tags but not peak tags come from converting lossless → lossy and transferring gain info (since peaks will be different for the lossy file, peak tags are omitted.) With 11db of volume difference on some tracks, it’s impossible to not notice that. I am not sure why applying RG requires peak tags in rockbox, foobar2000 handles peak tag-less files without issue. Any chance to change this behavior to not rely on peak tags?

Using release 3.13 on the clip zip, if I were to put the main crossfeed setting on the right button of the quickscreen, it would cycle through to custom but then stop. If I use the left button of the quickscreen, then after custom there is a data abort crash.

Using build c64b59f-140304, both the left and right quickscreen buttons work to cycle through all 3 settings for crossfeed, but I can still trigger the crash if I use the left button. It seems to be sporadic and timing dependent, because if I click through the options quickly it works fine, but if I slow down and hold the buttons for longer at a time then it will eventually trigger.

This file is correctly decoded and displayed in the Fuze+ simulator, but testing on device results in playback stopping. Interestingly, nothing crashes, playback just stops. In theory we should be able to decode this, the resizer does not need to load more than a few lines of the image at once, which should easily fit in memory. Alternatively, if it is too large (or rather wide given that its decoded line by line) for the available space, it should probably just be rejected.

I've been using the development version of Rockbox in my ipod classic 6th generation for about two years I think, but from some time, like a month or two, I'm experiencing playback issues as the track I'm listening suddenly skip forward or backward, or even jump for a few seconds on another mp3 file inside the ipod I was just listening before. I don't think is a ipod issue because I can listen the file inside the ipod with my computer player without problems.

There some way I can check older development revisions for the classic? It appears that it doesn't show in the dev build link on the site because is not fully supported. Thanks

13108BugsMusic playbackVery LowRandom crashes when playing music2017-03-16somedude162017-12-16 Task Description

For a couple of months my Sansa Fuze v2 has been crashing randomly when playing music. Most of the time I just get a white screen with an error message. The last message I got was :

'undefined instruction at 0006DC8C'

(I think that last number varies at each crash)

This didn't happen with v3.13, but it's been happening with every daily build I've tested IIRC.

It doesn't happen very often so it's hard to reproduce. I listen to music in public transports about twice a day and this happens not more than once a week. It seems to happen more often when the battery is low (less than 10%). It generally happens early in a playback session, when the first or second track is played.

Sometimes I don't get a white screen, but the program freezes and some parts of the interface are surrounded with white frames. I don't know if it's the same bug or if it's unrelated.

Note that I'm always listening to music on a microSD card, and I haven't tried on the main memory.

PS: I chose "Sansa Fuze+" in the OS list because I couldn't find Sansa Fuse v2.

13118BugsMusic playbackVery LowIncorrect playback position when seeking AAC files down...2017-05-31R O2017-05-31 Task Description

I downloaded this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrb0dHKJBR4 using the youtube-dl python program. The file plays and seeks correctly in foobar2000 and MPC-HC. But, on my clip+, whether I seek 10 seconds or 10 minutes into the file, it ends up playing a position of the file previous to the one displayed. For example, if I seek 50 seconds forward from the beginning, it will play the file from the start, while the screen still displays as if it's playing from 50 seconds onwards. Seeking to the end of the file will have it play a section from about 2 minutes earlier than it should be, while the time display and music will continue until 1:14:20, with the file actually being 1:12:46.

I did not hear the files being played slower than they should be, so it seems it's only an issue when seeking.

I've confirmed this happens on every AAC file downloaded by youtube-dl, and that re-encoding the same file to AAC using NERO encoder makes the problem dissapear.

After upgrading from 3.13 to 3.14, when playing most of the ogg vorbis files in my library, a "beeping" sound sporadically occurs.

The sound is random (2 consecutive playbacks of the same track will beep on the same time).

All the files played fine with 3.13.
MP3 files play just fine (I have not tested other formats yet).

Possibly interesting facts :
Vorbis files with a lower bitrate (<100kpbs) seem to be less subject to this beep.
It seems beep never occurs when screen is on.

ROLO currently fails on these targets unless a Rockbox image is being loaded that is sufficiently similar to the one already in memory.

The sequence goes like this:

- rolo_load() loads the new image to
rolo_restart() copies the new image to the start of DRAM (to achieve this without crashing, this function is in
rolo_restart() tries to call invalidate_idcache(), but since invalidate_idcache() is in DRAM this fails as the function has been overwritten.

There are several solutions to this:

1) Move invalidate_idcache() into .icode (easy but won’t fix all targets, esp. those that don’t use IRAM)

2) Create a new .safecode section at the end of DRAM, and move these functions into it (lots of work to update every app.lds and crt0.S, and test every target)

3) Introduce target-specific rolo_restart() functions, as per imx31/rolo_restart.S (less work, as only one should be required per architecture, eg ARMv4/5 etc.)

I’m not sure which of those options is “best”. 1) is certainly the easiest, but 2) and 3) should also allow ROLO to work on targets that don’t use IRAM.

I noticed, that every time I’m in the car listening to music, and I disconnect the iPod 30G (5th gen), while its playing, and I then try to shut it down, it’ll jump to the main window and will not move away from it.

From this point on, I cannot turn off the device nor more away from the main window. Only a HR will resolve this and let the iPod come back to normal working order.

Further more, while it is in that situation (which it is right now, while I write this), the device won’t even go on sleep or turn off the monitor. So basically, it’ll stay with the screen wide awake and lit up.

The two only buttons that will work are the Hold button, which will in turn, turn off the screen and the scroll will allow me to scroll up and down and around on the main window.

Q: What sort of car connection do you use? Line-out+power, or MSC? Or the accessory
I’m not familiar with these connection and their types. All I know is that it is connected to the car stereo from back (ie. the stereo was pull out and the adapter was connected in the back). Also, that it is a connection that connects to the bottom of the iPod (ie. flat and wide connection). It gives me control from the car’s stereo and the steering wheel. When I bought it and then they hooked it up, they told me this is an iPod adapter.

This DOES NOT happen if first stop the music and go to another menu BEFORE I disconnect it from the adapter.

11877BugsOperating System/DriversVery LowFilesystem corruption after entering USB mode2011-01-14sideral112011-04-182 Task Description

Various users on IRC recently reported cases of filesystem corruption. I have seen them as well, especially when using USB mode (I'm using a Sansa ClipV2, USB-enabled through  FS#11664 ).

One strangeness I've experienced is that when my system has detected filesystem corruption, it is often enough to remove the player from USB and then replug it, without repairing the filesystem and without rebooting Rockbox; on the next USB mount, the filesystem is clean. This might indicate that some buffer is flushed too late for the USB host to see.

[EDIT: Removed previously attached patch, which is now tracked separately as FS#11883.]

11962BugsOperating System/DriversVery LowPlayer and Filetransfer freeze during USB file transfer2011-02-23not relevant82011-08-18 Task Description

The interface of my Sansa Fuze and the file transfer freeze randomly when transferring large amounts of data. If the player runs in Bootloader USB mode everything is fine.

I guess this could break the vfat file system, making this a nasty bug. Disabling Key and Mouseemulation did not help. As long as this isn't fixed, a solution would be to start the player in Bootloader USB mode by default. I don't know if this is possible though, since I don't know the the technical details of rockbox very well.

Beside that everything works just great, keep up the good word!

PS.: I'm using Debian with different kernels. I couldn't see any differences between different kernel versions regarding this issue. Intels Linux USB drivers and the Linux USB stack in general usually work excellent as far as I know, therefore I would blame it on rockbox (no offense :)).

12184BugsOperating System/DriversVery LowFuze V1 locking when transferring files Rockbox 3.92011-07-09Kent Williams442013-11-161 Task Description

This is a post that another user put in the forums that pretty much describes the problems I'm having exactly:

" I have a v1 sansa fuze and been using rockbox since 3.8.1 first came out.I just upgraded to 3.9,did not mess with a-n-y setting at all,pc is windows vista (latest sp).Whenever i drag and drop folders with mp3s in them(be it 58 mb or 300 mb or 600 mb) it starts to copy but halfway through, the process just freezes, clicking cancel freezes the windows explorer for 10 seconds then cancels it.Even worse, when i go check out my sansa fuze at my computer,it's recognized but when i click on it,shows as empty!? so i disconnect safely, theeeen….device needs a hard reset. So i say ok this has happened once or twice before but guess what? it happened again…5 TIMES each on 3 different usb ports.Uninstalled rockbox, went back to official firmware and it's all normal…

So i changed the screen to be always on during plugged in and this is the error i get

data abort at 30054264
FSR 0x8
( domain 0, fault 8 )
address 0xA00000BF "

I am running Windows 7 64-bit and experiencing the same issues. If the player doesn't lock outright, it gives the same error white screen described above. This seems to happen more frequently when copying folders that contain folders themselves, but I've had the problem occur on copying just one folder with no subfolders.

1. tested devices: Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" and Android 2.3.3 AVD
2. tested revision: custom r30556 and rasher's unmodified r30562

3. condition: goto home screen by pressing 'Home button', then return to rockbox

4. symptom : any action that calls yesno screen(rename, delete, or 'Erase dynamic playlist', etc) will make rockbox unresponsible.
The only thing I can do is go to home screen then kill rockbox service.

5. If I go to home screen from main menu by 'Back button', the problem doesn't occur.

Bluetooth dongles are not "correctly powered up". Problem experienced with ipod Video colour 30GB and following dongles:
- Sennheiser BTD300i
- Kokai i10s

When I boot the standard apple software the dongles auto pair with my headphones. When I boot Rockbox the dongles get power (LEDs go on) but don't pair.

I'd put priority low on this but couldn't change the priority field during bug-entry

Hello,

i think rockbox is very nice. I use ist for several years.

The Car Adapter Mode or rather the power-off does not work in the Radio-Mode.
I tested it with the versions 3.4 and 3.10.

12468BugsOperating System/DriversVery LowHotswap fails to recognize the card after it was remove...2011-12-19Andrej62011-12-22 Task Description

If Rockbox is connected via USB with no sd card inserted and it is inserted, it offers the OS to mount the new drive.
If the sd card is removed and reinsterted again, it fails to offer and recognize it.

I could locate the problem in firmware/usbstack/usb_storage.c in the line

if(inserted && check_disk_present(IF_MD(volume))) {

after reinserting the card, check_disk_present fails to return true, so this check fails and the card isn't recognized anymore.

The version 3.10 is stable and everything works fine, but since I upgraded to the last version 3.11 or the daily build the ipod crashes and I can't mount the device in the computer, the charging doesn't work either.

I upgraded my Sansa Fuze V1 (AMSV1) from the current stable release 3.11.2 to Daily build (ad46064-120710). With Rockbox powered on, any attempt to connect USB to my WinXP fails. The USB icon is displayed briefly, followed immediately by the white screen - Undefined Instruction at 0000003C. This is repeatable. Recovery is via a power down.

Note: the USB connection works fine with the current stable release 3.11.2 and this is the first daily build I have tried,

12753BugsOperating System/DriversVery LowRaaA: Lack of buffer on HD (and upper) devices2012-09-18PurlingNayuki22012-09-20 Task Description
Nowadays there're more and more Android devices hit the market with higher and higher definetion. Therefore, we need to compile Rockbox with higher definetion.
Though we can compile and run Rockbox fluently, it doesn't always work as we expected. Sometimes it can't load background image/WPS/SBS or it'll even stop singing. I did a lot of test and comparison between builds with different version and definition and find out that it's the lacking of buffer which disturbs Rockbox working normally.
Big tracks, images and WPSs/SBSs and maybe other can cause the buffer lacking. We have bigger and bigger RAM for apps now but Rockbox always can't get enough buffer to hold the data. Hope fix!
12788BugsOperating System/DriversVery LowUSB support is crashing, while music is playing.2012-12-07Kuba2020-07-07 Task Description

12817BugsOperating System/DriversVery Low6G USB Mode locks up with car but not computer.2013-01-29Russell Brown22013-01-29 Task Description

I’m having weird problems with a 160Gb 6G Classic (yes I know it’s unsupported/unstable).

With emcore and rockbox it works fine. Connecting it to my computer the USB works as expected and everything is great (copied 100Gb+ of music to it with no trouble).

However… when I connect it to either of my cars (via USB), the iPod shows the USB screen for a few seconds then goes back to the Rockbox menu and locks solid. It then needs a MENU+Select to reboot it.

Using a USB flash drive in both cars (different head units) works fine and I can navigate around the filesystem and play music. I did notice that the flash drive was partitioned, not ‘superfloppy’, so I setup my iPod with 1 partition and stuck rockbox on that…. didn’t make any difference though.

Someone suggested that the head units (Kenwood and OEM Jaguar) might be detecting the device as an iPod from the USB ID and then ‘doing something special’. So I compiled my own rockbox from git source changing the USB ID and VENDOR to 0001. I then verified the change by doing a lsusb on my Linux box and the ID showed as 0001:0001.

Sadly this makes zero difference to the iPod’s behaviour when connected to my car(s).

Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m happy to recompile, grabs logs, insert code etc

Here’s the rockbox-info.txt from the one I built:

I’m using 42a725f, and after frequency scaling implementation, sometimes the player slowdown extremely, being unusable (don’t stop playing, only small gaps in audio occur).
Less frequently, the player freezes.

I noticed it’s happens more frequently if the device is just powered on, and hits play. If I wait a few seconds before resuming play, the freezes are less frequent.

- How often does this happen?
* Frequently, about 2 o 3 times a day (4 hour average playback time, with several shutdown/boot in the middle)

- playing which file format (mp3, ogg, flac, mpc, etc…)?
* Confirmed with mp3 and flac

- which lcd is your device?

12863BugsOperating System/DriversVery LowFuze+ freezes if volume and bass are set high2013-05-23William82014-01-12 Task Description

Playback halts.
No error screen appears – screen seems to stay where it is when freeze occurs, i.e. WPS or back light off.

Tested multiple audio formats.

Does not occur if no head phones are plugged in.

If you play a song for a bit at low volume (tested -14dB) before raising the volume, it is okay.

To reproduce:
Find a loud, bass-heavy part of a song, and halt playback right there.
Set volume to 6dB.
Set bass to 14.
Resume playback.

Usually freezes in less than a second when I do that.
