r31037 and later causes the device and sim to crash when resuming playback after leaving FM Radio. This crash has been reproduced on both e200v1 device and w32 sim and the e200v2 w32 sim. The failure is less likely to happen when there is a small number of files on the device/sim. (I have approximately 2200 files on the device and 5400 on the sim).
Tested with r30145
Steps to reproduce: 1. load the attached fms file (needs 35-Nimbus.fnt) 2. load an fm preset file - be sure to have station art 3. enter fm radio and select a preset station be sure art is displayed 4. power off device or sim 5. power on device or sim 6. start a playlist 7. stop playback 8. power off device or sim 9. power on device or sim 10. enter radio 11. exit radio 12. select resume playback 13. device or sim crashes
The e200v1 crash is: Data abort at 000095F0 (0)

Task Description
How I am able to reproduce this behaviour on my clipv2 using rockbox 3.10:
I select a file to play using the file browser and rockbox creates a curent playlist. I save this playlist using the context menu and enter file browser again. I select a file from any other folder for playing back, I get a “playlist buffer full” error message, that keeps flickering on the screen, when pressing any button.
I increased all file limits and also deleted the .playlists_control file to have it recreated again. The saved playlist consists of 30-40 mp3s.

12560 | Bugs | User Interface | Very Low | Quickscreen items flicker and vanish | 2012-01-23 | Michael Huth | 2012-12-10
Task Description
There are some problems with the quickscreen on the Sansa Fuze. I traced it back to r31246, a text alignment bugfix:
- Quickscreen items flicker a lot and sometimes vanish for half a second on each change of an option.
- Setting the right option (Repeat) to "Shuffle" and then back to something else causes "Shuffle" to stick on screen. Leaving the quickscreen and returning to it reveals the correct setting.
This only happens for longer scrolling strings of text, e.g. "Shuffle" is "Zufallswiedergabe" in German.

Task Description
I have a Sansa e260 player and currently Rockbox 3.11.2 running on it. I got a shuffled playlist with all of my music in it (added to the playlist using the insert function and reshuffled afterwards). When I want to listen to one or more specific songs, I enqueue them with the queue function (in play mode select song, album etc. from database → context menu → Current playlist → Queue). This works fine in most cases but when there had already been a queue that ended the song before, the song that I want to enqueue is placed before the currently playing song (which is the first song not any more part of the former queue) instead of after it. If I use the feature "Queue next" the song, album or whatever is correctly placed after the currently playing song. After having used "Queue next" once, other songs enqueued with the "Queue" command may be also placed correctly at the end of the new queue. I believe to remember some strange behavior though when in that case the song was also incorrectly placed as described above. I tried mp3 and ogg files and the behavior was the same regardless of which file format was used. It also doesn't matter if the song is played from the player's memory or from micro SD card. As soon as the second song after the queue is playing, enqueued content is correctly placed after the currently playing song again. I have experienced this behavior for a long time now and with different Rockbox builds on my player.
To reproduce the behavior: 1. Have a reshuffled playlist (created using "Insert" command, then selecting "Playlist" → "Reshuffle" from the wps context menu) with some songs in it 2. Listen to one of these songs which is not the first or last one in the playlist 3. Enqueue a song from your database via the context menu (This song should be placed directly after the currently playing one) 4. Play the enqueued song (or a part of it) 5. Play the next song in playlist 6. Now enqueue another song (This song should now be placed directly before the currently playing song in the playlist)
I have hardly any programming experience at all but it seems to me that somehow there exists some sort of marker that indicates the end of a queue and that this marker is not erased immediately after a queue ends but "one song too late"?

Task Description
On my Sansa Clip+ 4GB, with Rockbox v3.11.2
Recording a wav file through internal microphone. If the audio signal clips at the positive limit, bad things happen: 1) Most of the time the recorded signal wraps around to a full scale negative value, which makes it sound terrible. 2) Sometimes the recorded signal wraps around to a near zero value, which still makes it sound terrible but the distortion is not so loud
3) Clipping at the negative end of the range is as you would expect - a flat line which sounds like normal digital distortion, as you would expect
See attached picture of the recorded waveform showing each of the 3 situations described above.

Task Description
Player Type = Sansa Clip+ (not available in chooser when submitting). Release = 3.11.2
Recording at 48kHz results in audio that is 2.35% too fast. I believe it is recording at 49155Hz instead of 48000Hz. Recording at 44.1 kHz does not have this problem.
I have verified by putting 2 identical Clip+ in front of me, one set to rec at 44.1 other at 48.0. When playing back audio (on PC) difference in pitch is (barely) audible. And the audio falls out of sync as recording progresses (in video editor).
For now I’ll be happy to only record at 44.1kHz, but maybe 48kHz recording should either be fixed or dropped from Clip+ options.

Task Description
Nowadays there're more and more Android devices hit the market with higher and higher definetion. Therefore, we need to compile Rockbox with higher definetion.
Though we can compile and run Rockbox fluently, it doesn't always work as we expected. Sometimes it can't load background image/WPS/SBS or it'll even stop singing. I did a lot of test and comparison between builds with different version and definition and find out that it's the lacking of buffer which disturbs Rockbox working normally.
Big tracks, images and WPSs/SBSs and maybe other can cause the buffer lacking. We have bigger and bigger RAM for apps now but Rockbox always can't get enough buffer to hold the data. Hope fix!

Task Description
I’m having weird problems with a 160Gb 6G Classic (yes I know it’s unsupported/unstable).
With emcore and rockbox it works fine. Connecting it to my computer the USB works as expected and everything is great (copied 100Gb+ of music to it with no trouble).
However… when I connect it to either of my cars (via USB), the iPod shows the USB screen for a few seconds then goes back to the Rockbox menu and locks solid. It then needs a MENU+Select to reboot it.
Using a USB flash drive in both cars (different head units) works fine and I can navigate around the filesystem and play music. I did notice that the flash drive was partitioned, not ‘superfloppy’, so I setup my iPod with 1 partition and stuck rockbox on that…. didn’t make any difference though.
Someone suggested that the head units (Kenwood and OEM Jaguar) might be detecting the device as an iPod from the USB ID and then ‘doing something special’. So I compiled my own rockbox from git source changing the USB ID and VENDOR to 0001. I then verified the change by doing a lsusb on my Linux box and the ID showed as 0001:0001.
Sadly this makes zero difference to the iPod’s behaviour when connected to my car(s).
Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m happy to recompile, grabs logs, insert code etc

Task Description
First noticed the issue in the previous dev build, and just confirmed in 15fa7f8.
When playing .opus files, no metadata is displayed. Some files (92kbit stereo music files so far) do play fine otherwise. Others induce crashes upon attempting to play. An example is attached.
First test, I played a couple of music files successfully, then tried to play the attached file. System crashed immediately showing the following: “Undefined instruction pc:30000002 sp:300632[display cuts off here] bt end”
Powered off, restarted, and tried to play the attached file immediately. After a second or so of audio, player crashed again: “Undefined instruction pc:08180002 sp:302029[display cuts off here] bt end”
On the previous dev build, I was getting similar errors if I tried to play the attached file (or several other similar ones) after successfully playing other files, but would get a black-screen crash if I tried to play it immediately on powerup (this is not what is happening on 15fa7f8).
I am NOT experiencing these problems on another AMSv1 player (Sansa c240 [”c200v1”]) with the same dev build, so this may be specific to the Clipv1. On the c240 with both the previous build and 15fa7f8, metadata displays fine and the attached file plays without any apparent error.

12891 | Bugs | Themes | Very Low | %?if() evaluates enumeration indexes and arbitrary numb... | 2013-08-22 | Guillaume Cocatre-Zilgien | 2014-01-10
Task Description
When displaying %mp in a theme while playback is stopped, the value 0 (zero) is displayed.
However, to test for “playback stopped”, one has to test: %?if(%mp, =, 1) That is, one has to test for (index + 1) in order to return true for any given enumerator index number.
Same problem when testing for an arbitrary number. Example: %?if(%ss(0, 2, %St(font), number), =, 15) returns true when the font is set to “14-Nimbus”, and false when the font is set to “15-Adobe-Helvetica”.
When testing a %tag that holds a numerical value though, it works as expected: %?if(%pv, =, 0) returns true when volume is set to 0dB.
Fixing this would likely break all existing Rockbox themes. One solution to this, would be to require new / updated themes to include some specific code that “acknowledges” the new behavior.

12998 | Bugs | Themes | Very Low | Vertical progress bar (%pb) glitches at the start of a ... | 2014-09-16 | Guillaume Cocatre-Zilgien | 2014-09-16 | 2 |
Task Description
Consider the following theme markup:
%Vl(progressbar,306,156,10,80,-) %pb(0,0,10,80,progressbar.bmp,vertical)
That draws a vertical progress bar that will get filled from bottom to top. When a song starts to play, the progress bar is one pixel high, at the correct position (at the bottom of the viewport). That 1px-high image quickly jumps up one pixel (moves up by one pixel), then comes back down one pixel (at the correct position) whenever the progress percentage is high enough. The progress bar then displays normally and grows as the song is playing. See attached screenshots.
Expected behavior: the position of the progress bar (relative to the viewport) should not change. The bug has been observed in the iPod Classic and Clip Zip sims (builds 1bc89bd and 77bfff5) as well on the actual devices. Inverting the progress bar (with the "invert" parameter) shows the correct behavior (inverted bar with no such glitch).
Affected themes: Ash (iPod Classic), SugarBrown (Clip Zip).

When I try to build rockbox, I get the following error:

My build path is a fairly long path. Building it at a location with shorter path it works. Details:
Steps to reproduce:
* Create a location where you want to have the sources; use a fairly long path name, e.g.
mkdir -p /home/myuser/download/mediaplayer_hardware/SanDisk/Sansa_Fuze_v2/rockbox/firmware/source/
* Change to that directory:

and returns with exit code 2.
Workaround:
Building it in a directory with shorter path, e.g. doing everything in "/tmp", works.
But that is only a workaround; it should not fail when building in arbitrary locations, and especially not with a message not making it clear _what_ the underlying problem ist. (I had to do a long internet search to get to the idea that the build place can be the problem).

Task Description
I was recently renaming some of the music files on my Sansa Clip+ MP3 player using my computer. Some of the renames were as simple as changing the case of some of the letters in the filename, from uppercase to lowercase. After I disconnected my device, I noticed that there were duplicates of certain entries in the database. Upon further investigation, I realized that all of the entries that were duplicated were the files that the names of which I had renamed by changing the case of the letters. After I discovered this, I tried to rename a file in this manner using the device. When I tried to save the file with the new name, the screen showed a box that read “Rename Failed.” Apparently, at least for Sansa Clip+, RockBox has a problem with renaming files by changing the case of the letters. Let me know if any other RockBox devices have this problem as well.

Task Description
Rockbox version 3.13 Wenn I delete a file being played, it continues to play (which is OK for me). But when I rewind in this file while playing, Rockbox hangs and does not respond to any key presses. The screen light stays on. I have to press the hard reset or wait until the battery is empty.
This also sometimes happens when I press fastforward, but it always happens when pressing rewind.
Desired behavior: - Preferred: permit rewinding/fastforwarding (and really delete the file only after stopping the replay) - ignore rewind/fast forward; alternatively - skip to the next file immediately after deleting.
Thanks for reading, and please contact me if you cannot reproduce this! I have a Iriver H140 and I must say that all my recordings are in wavpack (recordings made using SPDIF-IN), so I do not know whether this also happens with other file formats and with other players.

Affected versions: RBUtil V1.4.0 git version 2a2800b528010320ca504a39106806ec21f0220 (2016-10-12)
rbutil fails to build bootloader. Tested for Iriver H1x0 and H3x0 platforms.

Fired up gdb and debugged the git 2a2800b5280103… build:
The failure is in function mkboot_iriver in mkboot.c line 98: Line 98:
i = fread(image+16, 1, len, f);
len is calculated as 2636272. But file size of /tmp/qt_temp.U16458 is only 2621440, resulting in a short read of 2621424 bytes. So error condition “i < len” fires and function returns without building bootloader.
I tested this on two different gentoo systems. It worked on one, but failed on the other. Both are more or less up to date, but have one significant difference: 32bit vs 64bit system.
The system that did compile and run perfectly uses: gcc i686-pc-linux-gnu-4.9.4 (len=2636272, file size=2637824) The system that failed uses: gcc x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.9.3 (len=2636272, file size=2621440)
So, the failing rbutil creates a temporary file that is too short. I didn’t debug deeper to find out why.

Task Description
Ordinarily, when Rockbox is shut off and turned back on, it will remember the position in the last-played song, and begin playing from where you left off. However, in the latest build, Rockbox doesn't remember the last track that was playing if the file used a relative path. This happens on every version of 3.14 including the current daily build (2017-11-13).
Here is how the error can be reproduced:
Have a folder with two songs. Then, in the parent folder, create two m3u playlists named "absolute.m3u" and "relative.m3u". .\ —absolute.m3u —relative.m3u —MUSIC\ ——song1.ogg ——song2.ogg
In the absolute.m3u playlist, add the following lines: MUSIC\song1.ogg MUSIC\song2.ogg
In the relative.m3u playlist, add the following lines: .\MUSIC\song1.ogg .\MUSIC\song2.ogg
To see expected behavior:
1.) Open the files list, and run absolute.m3u and song1.ogg begins playing. 2.) Push right to start song2.ogg. Let it play a few seconds in. 3.) Turn off your device by pressing power. 4.) Turn on your device with the power button. 5.) song2.ogg continues to play the same song at the same location as when it was shut off.
To reproduce the bug:
1.) Open the files list, and run relative.m3u and song 1 begins playing. 2.) Push right to start song2.ogg. Let it play a few seconds in. 3.) Turn off your device by pressing power. 4.) Turn on your device with the power button. 5.) song1.ogg plays from the very beginning.
The file format of the songs doesn't seem to matter (I've tested ogg and mp3).

8618 | Bugs | Configuration | Very Low | Sansa C240 Dock Line Level Audio disabled | 2008-02-18 | Nate Byers | 2010-07-19
Task Description
On the Sansa C240 V1, to switch on the line level audio output on the dock connector pin 8 needs to go high. So jumping 3V+ from pin 22 will activate the line level audio. This works fine with the Sansa firmware but Rockbox produces no sound through the line level outputs on the C240, with pin 8 jumped or not jumped.

Task Description
Rockbox Version:r16780-080324
Description: If the “Bookmark on Stop” option is set to “Yes” and there is no free space left on the storage, rockbox freezes/takes a REALLY long time if pressing the Poweoff(=Stop) button, because it cannot save the bookmark(or has to push out the less recent?).
I wondered why rockbox crashed if doing this til I discovered this bug.
Expected behavoiur: Instantls notify user there’s no space left and don’t save the bookmark
How to reproduce: 1. Power on the player, launch rockbox. Make sure there’s enough disk space. 2. Go Settings→General Settings→Bookmarking→Bookmark on Stop→Set to “Yes” 3. Reboot, connect to PC 4. Create a text file which is big enough to consume the rest of your free disk space 5. Restart Sansa into rockbox 6. Play a track 7. Press poweroff (short)

8913 | Bugs | Build environment | Very Low | compilation error due to GNU core utils BLOCK_SIZE valu... | 2008-04-20 | Peter D. | 2008-12-02
Task Description
Hi,
There is a compilation problem when the environment variable BLOCK_SIZE is set. It gave me errors about a comma.
This can be set or cleared systematically or on a command by command basis.
Suggestion one; unset BLOCK_SIZE and its relatives high in the build chain, but be prepared for POSIX to bite with 512 byte blocks.
Suggestion two; set LS_BLOCK_SIZE=1 high in the build chain. (And DF_BLOCK_SIZE=1024 and DU_BLOCK_SIZE=1024 ?)
Suggestion three; edit apps/lang/Makefile so that
$(SILENT)echo “#define MAX_LANGUAGE_SIZE `ls -ln $(OBJDIR)/* | awk ‘{print $$5}’ | sort -n | tail -1`” > $(HEADER)
becomes
$(SILENT)echo “#define MAX_LANGUAGE_SIZE `ls -ln –block-size=1 $(OBJDIR)/* | awk ‘{print $$5}’ | sort -n | tail -1`” > $(HEADER)
or
$(SILENT)echo “#define MAX_LANGUAGE_SIZE `LS_BLOCK_SIZE=1 ls -ln $(OBJDIR)/* | awk ‘{print $$5}’ | sort -n | tail -1`” > $(HEADER)
Suggestion four; just tell people that they are not allowed to have commas in their core utilities output (and be prepared to be bitten badly if the default block size ever changes).
BTW I *like* having thousands separators on my command line, so I have
export BLOCK_SIZE=\'1
export DF_BLOCK_SIZE=\'M
in my /etc/bashrc file.

Unsure if this is an RBUtil isssue or a sansapatcher issue, or even a Sansa issue that can’t be solved, but according to this (http://www.rockbox.org/irc/log-20080709#02:36:38), it reports a successful install on the e200R when it hasn’t. Related to FS#7526 ?

10089 | Bugs | User Interface | Very Low | Scrolling doesn't pause at the top or bottom of a list ... | 2009-04-02 | Bertram Bourdrez | 2009-04-02
Task Description
I’ve been reliably informed that Rockbox should stop scrolling when it gets to the bottom or top of a menu, only to wrap around when you initiate a new scrolling gesture. On a 2nd Generation iPod, however, it just keeps scrolling.
See http://bertram.bourdrez.org/buggyrockbox.avi (the video is recorded with an old Rockbox, but 3.2-090323 does the same thing)
Also, the bug tracking system is overcomplicated. I have to register an account?! “Why the hell should *I* set up an account? It’s not like any bugs will be assigned to me or anything. Just store my e-mail address and move on. It’s completely fucking bogus that I should have to go digging through my mail for confirmation passwords.” (http://zork.net/~sneakums/fortunes/gar/215)
Then I have to click a link with a magic number in it *as well as* having to enter a confirmation code from the same email (!?) and then when I’ve finished, I’m not even logged in! I have to log in with the same password I just set! Can’t it just set a cookie?

Currently running r19940 but there doesn’t seem to have been any chage in the power code for the gigabeat S recently.
The issue is that there is a regular clicking noise heard if DC power is connected while the battery is fully charged. This noise is not heard while the battery is charging. The same power adapter doesn’t cause the same noise on an F.

10143 | Bugs | Drivers | Very Low | License of firmware/export/usb_ch9.h is unclear | 2009-04-18 | Frank Gevaerts | 2009-04-19
Task Description
firmware/export/usb_ch9.h comes from linux (include/linux/usb/ch9.h) with only trivial changes. The original doesn’t mention a specific license, so it probably is GPLv2 file basically contains only structure declarations and defines for things straight from the USB specification though, so I’m not sure if there is a real problem.

10427 | Bugs | Bootloader | Very Low | MR-100 requires reset if the hold switch is engaged aft... | 2009-07-10 | Eric Jorgensen | 2011-06-05
Task Description
This isn't a big problem because the MR-100 won't turn on if the hold switch is already engaged.
But if the user turns on the MR-100 and then engages the hold switch while the M:Robe logo is on the screen, a "Hold switch is on Shutting down…" message is displayed, but it does not shut down.
A reset is required at this point - disengaging the hold switch and holding down the power button in this state does not shut down the MR-100.

10807 | Bugs | Operating System/Drivers | Very Low | Rockbox will get stuck in the main menu if disconnected... | 2009-11-23 | Shai Ben-Naphtali | 2009-11-23
Task Description
I noticed, that every time I’m in the car listening to music, and I disconnect the iPod 30G (5th gen), while its playing, and I then try to shut it down, it’ll jump to the main window and will not move away from it.
From this point on, I cannot turn off the device nor more away from the main window. Only a HR will resolve this and let the iPod come back to normal working order.
Further more, while it is in that situation (which it is right now, while I write this), the device won’t even go on sleep or turn off the monitor. So basically, it’ll stay with the screen wide awake and lit up.
The two only buttons that will work are the Hold button, which will in turn, turn off the screen and the scroll will allow me to scroll up and down and around on the main window.
Q: What sort of car connection do you use? Line-out+power, or MSC? Or the accessory I’m not familiar with these connection and their types. All I know is that it is connected to the car stereo from back (ie. the stereo was pull out and the adapter was connected in the back). Also, that it is a connection that connects to the bottom of the iPod (ie. flat and wide connection). It gives me control from the car’s stereo and the steering wheel. When I bought it and then they hooked it up, they told me this is an iPod adapter.
This DOES NOT happen if first stop the music and go to another menu BEFORE I disconnect it from the adapter.

There is bug in rockblox: when you manage to push block exactly to the top of the field, game neither finishes with error, neither continues normally. this block starts growing when you destroy lines in the bottom.
I've made small video and put in into youtube (sorry for bad quality and sharpness : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gULp6yUms8
look into the left top and see what happens when lines are removed. bug is quite easy to reproduce. right side works like the left.

11672 | Bugs | Manual | Very Low | manual, sansa clip+: No keys for actions | 2010-10-12 | Timo Paulssen | 2011-06-10 | 1 |
Task Description
On page 51, which is in Section 6.8, there is a table for keys/actions. The Key column is completely empty, though.
On page 77, in Section 11.1.1, the blackjack game plugin, there table is similarly broken. Same for BrickMania in Section 11.1.2. Chessbox, in section 11.1.4 has a similar problem with only the "direction keys" being in the table. There are many more games with this problem.
This is for a manual I downloaded 2010-10-11.
Thank you for your attention.

I’ve found very important bug in Rockbox 3.7, witch my be dangerous for both the player and the memory card (if present). It turned out that Rockbox doesn’t react to very low battery level while voice or FM radio is recorded. It causes damage to the recorded file when finally hardware falls due to lack of energy. This corrupted file is absolutely unreadable.

Task Description
I've tried a dozen of builds around, and it seems that the new touchscreen on D2+ is not working properly - there're wild distortions (sometimes it's possible to press a button on lower bottom of the panel, but usually it's to no effect at all) at the edges of panel - i have to press almost on the edge of panel in order to tap the buttons, for instance in this (http://themes.rockbox.org/index.php?themeid=1146&target=cowond2) theme.
