Can't set the time of day clock

started at SVN R29234 and continues to current build.
all the builds work in the simulators but break on player.
when you enter in the settings to set clock it shows correct date but shows

00:00:00

and you can change it but it will not set returns you to settings menu and you get

When you configure Shortcuts to replace the Quick Screen then there is this unwanted behaviour:
Exiting the Shortcuts menu always returns to the Main Menu, not to the screen from which the Shortcuts menu was invoked by pressing the Quick Screen key combination.

Sorry, not sure in which build part of this ceased to function, but I think it was just prior to 3.10

In the Clip Sim's I can no longer access the Lock Screen. "H" used to do this for me, as I recall.

Also, the charge values in the Clip Sim's no longer incrementally increase and decrease. The charge values used to go from 0 to 100 and then back down again.

This applies to the Clip Zip Sim as well. I haven't tried the Fuze Sim.

It's Seems to be no support for RTL languages like Hebrew and Arabic in rockbox for android.
Instead of מוסיקה written הקיסומ (in English - Instead of "Music" written "cisuM).
I attach pictures for example:

When I skip backwards 3 songs, Rockbox aborts with the following dump:

While in the fm radio screen, a ticking noise can be heard in the background. When pressing the power button in the radio screen the noise disappears.

Using the %pL Tag (in WPS) in order to simply display it or use it in a conditional tag (like in the “analog” theme yields very high values (let call it spikes) - where they should not be, while the bar-type peak meter is working fine.

Within the simulator, everithing is running smooth, as far as I could see.

I tried to have a look at the sources but that’s too much at the moment.

Does somebody have a clue ?

When booting rombox or rockbox from flash on h1x0 with dircache enabled, chances are good that the thing will freeze. This started with r30393 / 7e14b935dfdcd808cfb0703d19a43efd11eeef16.

This still happens with d2f97da668836f5d825c9aaef0d58dea64fc4dd5

The %pb tag has a small problem. If an image is specified but no height, the tag draws the size of a line even if larger than the the image. This leads to pixel garbage below the progressbar.

The test.wps reproduces the problem in the 320x480 sdl app The default font, 27-adobe, has to be selected probably. The wps works if a height, i.e. 20 in this case as the image height, is specified

Test.png shows the problem. test.zip is the small test theme.

When plugging in an AC USB charger, the ipod shows rockbox's disk mode instead of just changing the "external power" icon. Is it possible to make it detect if a charger is connected, or an usb host (for example, a computer)?

Doing the same test (with the same charger) on an ipod color/4g shows the expected result (not going to usb mode, just a charger icon appears)

The FM Tuner appears to be very sensitive to noise and static compared to the original firmware radio.

Apart from the static and noise the Rockbox FM Tuner sounds much clearer and sharper than the original firmware, so I wonder if this may be related to the OF using a lower sampling rate or cutting off the higher frequencies to reduce noise.

when the FM tuner is turned on and say that you want to go to Add a Preset you cannot hear thevoice over the radio. this should be controlled where the Fm volume is turned down and the volume of the voice is turned up just like in playing regular music.

All settings should be listed there (even more so settings which cannot be set through the UI), but root menu order is only described in advanced_topic/main.tex as of now.

When turning on my Sansa with Rockbox 3.10, the display sometimes goes all white and stays that way until the screensaver kicks in. The player works fine during that time and can be controlled blindly. After the screen turns off and I turn it on again, the screen works as expected. This does not happen all the time, but very often.

Not very long ago I got iPod Nano 2 gen 8gb, installed rockbox and encountered this strange behavior:

After pushing and releasing Hold button player doesn't react on wheel. When I'm trying to use some other button(Menu, for example), nothing happens. After third attempt to use a button Rockbox does button context properly, showing me what I wanted to see a few clicks ago. What happens with interface after using Hold? When I return to 'Now playing' screen throughout Menu, all works fine. But right after using Hold button I can't nor increase/decrease volume, neither move in a menu list.

I'm using Rockbox 3.10 with the 01.02.16 Clip+ Firmware on a Sansa Clip+ 8GB, installed via the installer.

There are a lot of 44kHz/16bit FLAC files stored on the device. During playback it could happen that the next track starts while the current one isn't even close to finished. This can be in the first few seconds or in the middle of the song.

This usually doesn't happen to the same song twice. It's generally a different song each time. When skipping back to the track that was skipped, it usually plays without any problems.

The memory has been checked with CHKDSK and no errors were found. The FLACs play fine in foobar2000 and I'm certain that they are okay.

I do believe the error occurs most often after roughly quarter to half an hour of playback.

This may be related to FS#12208

The config caused the iPod to appear frozen (frozen screen) after bootup. The iPod would boot, show the normal boot screen and then created a boot screen mixed with theme settings. Picture: http://imgur.com/E4srA the iPod refuse and refused to mount.

Fix:
1: Boot into recovery diskmode
2: Remove conflicting config.cfg
3: Reboot into normal mode

Hi all!
After 3.10 update I usually get my player frozen with usb plug icon if I connect it to any USB host while the player is off.
Steps to reproduce the issue:
1. Power off the iPod.
2. Plug it to Usb host. (tested with mac and Android)
3. Wait the system to boot.
4. It freezes with usb connect icon (no menu bar). Only holding Menu+Select help.

EQ settings changed via Touchscreen WPS action setting_inc & setting_dec are not reflected in the sound output of the device even though they display having been changed in the menus. The changes are also not written to the main config file on disk so they do not "stick" after Rockbox has been rebooted.

After a lot of trial and error I found out the following.

It appears that 3.10 on my Clip V2 writes a bad nvram.bin file. When I try to set another interface language, my Clip freezes. It does not react to input and the clock in the top line doesn’t update anymore. The FM radio kept on playing though. I haven’t tried all available settings in the menu, just the ones I occasionally use. But the problem never occurred anywhere else, just upon selecting another language.

When I delete nvram.bin, I can set a language. Then I switch the Clip off and on again, and the problem comes back.

See attached the nvram.bin which causes a freeze.

PS.: No Sansa Clip in the Player Type selection on the left.

If loading a config file that holds all configuration settings (Settings → Manage Settings - Save .cfg File) from Rockbox 3.9.1 in Rockbox 3.10 or the daily builds for Archos Recorder with Firmware V3, the player will not bootup correctly on the next restart and show:

directly at booting. I then press "On" again and get:

*PANIC*
Stkov main

and the HD shuts down. If I press "On" again, the same loop continues.

The problem can only be resolved by plugging the player to USB, removing the rockbox directory and copying it again from the newest daily build or 3.10, then restart. It boots up fine again then. Doing the previous settings manually on 3.10 or the daily builds and then saving / loading them works fine and the player won´t have the boot-bug anymore.

I have attached the config file that creates the problem.

I have a Sansa Clip+, Clip Zip and Fuze V2 all running various RB versions. The crash happens on all of them.

To focus I will use the Clip Zip (as its close at hand) and tell you what it does.
I get:

This happens when trying to use the lrc plugin on the clip zip running RB version 4.0 (r31646-120109) and accessing a sandisk 16gb sd card that is 12.5gb full.
But i can confirm i get this message (or a similar one) on my fuze v2 and clip+ which are running 'stable' albeit older versions of rockbox (again from sd cards). I mention the sd cards but im 90% sure it happens on songs on the internal memory also.

I suspect it has something to do with my mp3 files having lyrics embedded within them but not as .lrc files. All i can explain is this:
I use wiki lyrics to find lyrics for songs and then right click copy them and use Tag&Rename and Paste into the mp3 file and save.

Using this method works fine for displaying lyrics when using ipad2's stock music player (pre iOS5) and androids app Poweramp for Samsung galaxy S2 phones and Creatives Ziio 7 tablet (running poweramp). This method also works for my Pc when running foobar and using the 'TextDisplay' component. The Text Display Format in foobar settings are $if2(%unsynced lyrics%,No lyrics available)

It should be noted that when using poweramp and choosing 'Lyrics' it asks where u want to choose to read the lyrics from:
-Auto (from tags if available, otherwise via musixmatch plugin)
-Musixmatch plugin
-From tags

I select the last option (from tags) always and it never fails. ipads player seems to also use this method. The lyrics do not scroll automatically, u need to scroll up and down to read them (should they be longer than the visible screen).

Occasionally lrc plugin wont crash if it actually finds a lrc file embedded in song and works fine. But this rarely happens, perhaps only 10% of my collection has lrc files embedded within them, soon as it goes to next track without one it produces this error.

I just did it again for a different file and a different error.

When playing a sequence of two songs Rockbox on my HTC Desire S always crashes. I first had r30576-110921, and now it is r31516-120102. Cropped versions of the songs can be downloaded here:

They still reproducably crash my Rockbox. I found a workaround, though: mp3 versions of the same songs play all right. Rockbox for me still is the only known way to have gapless playback on my phone. Thanks for that guys!

Buy the way: the same ogg files made no problem in Rockbox on my old iPod nano.

in manual section 5.14 Shortcuts.

I'd recommend replace this

 "talkclip: <filename clip of a talk that speak When voice menus are enabled>"

for this

I suggest this because I took a long time before I figured out how it should be properly.

There is different level audio between Radio and Music Playback with the same db value. Level audio on Music Playback is too low.

How I am able to reproduce this behaviour on my clipv2 using rockbox 3.10:

I select a file to play using the file browser and rockbox creates a curent playlist.
I save this playlist using the context menu and enter file browser again.
I select a file from any other folder for playing back, I get a “playlist buffer full” error message, that keeps flickering on the screen, when pressing any button.

I increased all file limits and also deleted the .playlists_control file to have it recreated again. The saved playlist consists of 30-40 mp3s.

since build 31646 text viewer stops bookmarking or saving the last position on any file it shows bookmark added when i press the center+down buttons but doesn’t actaully save it.
seems to have a problem writing to the file tv_file.dat.

When the option “Auto-change directory” is enabled, my Ondio crashes at the end of the current folder’s playlist when it would have to create a new one.

The error it shows is “I09: CPUAdrEr at 09010FF8”. The address varies a bit with the actual revision, this example is with r26246 and an OndioFM backlight build (but the problem is present in plain SVN builds too). Looking at the map file shows that the crash happens in the cue_find_current_track function.

Bisecting build turned up that the error was introduced with the cuesheet rework in r21978/9 and the fix in 21982 fixed usual folder playback but not auto-change directory. It is reproducible on the Archos Recorder so I assume a general hwcodec problem.

Holding the Pause button (to move/paint down) will shut down rockbox.

This shutdown combination should be disabled for Rockpaint!

While I’m at it (and you can put this in a different Flyspray if you want), I suggest that we make use of the iPod scrollwheel somehow in Rockpaint, maybe to change the size or shape of the brush or something and/or in the menus.

I would also like to be able to set the colour of the background to start with.

Languages like Thai use combining diacritical marks which display above or below the adjoining character. When text scrolls off the screen, the text jerks back and re-scrolls what seems to be the width of the diacritical mark. It seems that the scrolling algorithm is counting the width of the diacritical mark, where it should be ignored.

i am using SYLT and USLT tags in my audio files (LYRICS and UNSYNCED LYRICS respectively)

but it seems like lrcplayer does not read the SYLT tag.
it only displays someting if the UNSYNCED LYRICS tag is present

USB is broken on mr500. I’ve tried r31467, but this has been the case since at least a few weeks ago.

Enabling logf in the relevant places causes rockbox not to boot, so wasn’t helpful.

2. Installation
Installing Rockbox is generally a quick and easy procedure. However before beginning
there are a few important things to know.
2.1. Before Starting
Supported hardware versions. The Clip v2 is available in multiple versions…

this should read :”The Clip is available in multiple versions…”

Since the daily builds in between 3.9.1 and now and also on the release 3.10 i experienced a problem with MPEG player not displaying the the fonts right and the chip8 emulator just freezes after loading a file i tested it with a few game files found on the plugin wiki.

The .ape file I join make rockbox produce a horrible noise (like random audio) when seeking inside it. The original file was very large, so I created this one with:
dd if=original.ape of=test.ape bs=512 count=1000
So the produced file may not be correct, but it plays correctly in rockbox, and reproduces the bug, so I join it…

I’ve seen this bug on 3.9.1 and 3.10 on Sansa Fuze. If I set the language to Russian and connect the device to USB, I see a message consisting of squares with the only word “USB” being readable. Choosing another font in the settings makes no difference.

When the language is set to English, the message reads: “USB Keypad Mode: Multimedia”. However, the size and look of the font does not depend on the font selected in the settings. This is wrong.

If there is a real need in having a special font for the USB keypad mode text (which I doubt), that font should have glyphs for all supported languages.

With r30907 (and also back to at least r30809 which I tested as well) I experience unneeded mass storage accesses on my iPod nano2G. I do not see this effect on my iPod Video.

Use case:
- Create a playlist from either DB or file browser
- Let buffering finish
- Skip forward track by track
(I use mpc/mp3/aac with embedded album art.)

Effect seen: For some skips I see short flash accesses (much shorter than full rebuffering).

This only happens if dircache is off. With activated dircache this effect is gone.

As such mass storage accesses are severely impacting the battery runtime on HDD targets I hope we get this figured out before v3.10.

When using an image in a theme it shows ugly gradients/dithering, as if it was only 16 bit. When the same image however is used as backdrop (%X tag, instead of ‘regular’ %xl and %xd), it looks smooth and 24 bit.

Attached image shows the issue. Top half shows what Rockbox does when the image is loaded via %xl and %xd. Bottom half shows how the image should look like (and how it does indeed look when it’s used as a %X backdrop).

Tested on a Cowon D2 simulator and on an Android device running RaaA.

If Rockbox is connected via USB with no sd card inserted and it is inserted, it offers the OS to mount the new drive.
If the sd card is removed and reinsterted again, it fails to offer and recognize it.

I could locate the problem in firmware/usbstack/usb_storage.c in the line

if(inserted && check_disk_present(IF_MD(volume))) {

after reinserting the card, check_disk_present fails to return true, so this check fails and the card isn't recognized anymore.

Peakmeter on ipod video 5g uses too much CPU, such that audible glitches occur during even flac/wav decoding .

in version 3.10 chessbox plugin doesn't recognize .pgn files in the file menu and so cannot be used as a .pgn reader anymore.

Hardware: iriver H140, iriver H340, Sansa Clip+

Rockbox version: 3.10 downloaded from http://www.rockbox.org/download/byhand.cgi I have also reproduced bug on official firmwares as old as 3.5.1, and on my own builds.

Settings: 100% default except for enabling EQ and setting an EQ i.e. using graphical EQ to set LS -0.5 at 60Hz or LS +1.5 at 60Hz

Expected behaviour: music track, however loaded, starts in normal way, with no sounds other than those decoded from file. Restarting the track results in the same normal playback.

Actual behaviour: music track starts with an obvious and intrusive click. This happens whether the track is loaded individually, or if it is the first track of an album loaded via .m3u playlist. When using playlist subsequent tracks play normally, without a click. But restarting any track causes the click.

It makes no difference if the EQ Low Shelf Filter settings are a big change from flat, or a tiny difference. To induce the bug it’s enough that EQ is enabled and LS is not set to be flat i.e. just an increment of +/- 0.5 dB is enough, and changing the cut off frequency or the Q factor made no difference.

This bug is noticeable with any track that starts quietly, and especially with tracks from CDs that are not mastered to modern high levels.

The Clip does tend to make its own small click on manual track changes and some button presses; I am not confusing this with the bug I describe. On the irivers I get a single click, while on the Clip I get a very unmusical double click.

I’ve attached my H140 config to illustrate that the config is unremarkable and that apart from the EQ it is at default. If anyone needs me to try stuff or make any changes or try a patch that is fine, but I would prefer it to be on an iriver because the Sansa OF database refresh is so annoying.

Now i found a bug:
The Car Adapter Mode or rather the power-off does not work in the Radio-Mode.
I tested it with the versions 3.4 and 3.10.

when deleting a directory with several files in it the splash screen, that is appearing when deleting the individual files, gets printed over the last one without clearing the screen prior to it.

Tested on r31173:

Deleted tracks are still visible after the automatic database update when the player boots. These tracks vanish as soon as I add some files. It also doesn't seem to matter if the dircache is enabled or not. Manually updating the database from the menu works as intended.

r29445 introduced problems with screendump on sansa e200 and e200v2 (and possibly more). Screendump works properly with r29444.

Steps to reproduce:

1. delete or backup existing .rockbox directory
2. install r29445 (or later)
3. reboot
4. navigate to System → Debug (Keep Out!) → Screendump and press select to enable
5. attach USB cable to trigger screendump

On e200, this results in:
*PANIC*
Stkov usb (0)

on e200v2, this results in a deadlock - no keypad response - backlight & button light never timeout. Upon reboot, multiple dump files exist.

On e200v2 only, when dircache is disabled, screendump will function properly.

To reproduce, ensure car adapter mode is enabled, start playback, and leave the now playing screen. If the charger isn't connected, connect it now. Then, disconnect the charger, causing a car adapter mode pause. Some parts of the now playing screen will overwrite the current screen. I see this in file view, main menu and settings. The main menu is quickly redrawn and back to normal, but the file view is only redrawn after I do something. Now, reconnect the charger, which causes a car adapter mode unpause after a short delay. The same thing happens.

I've seen this on:
- 5G iPod using Firewire power, running 3.10RC and r31106
- Archos Recorder V2 using charger, running 3.10RC and r31106

Edit: The same thing happens with headphone plug-in unpause (but not headphone unplug pause). I expect the problem also happens when using BUTTON_MULTIMEDIA_PLAYPAUSE, but I did not test that.

The problem is due to the pause_action() and unpause_action() calls in apps/misc.c. The second parameter is "bool updatewps". It is true in all cases except headphone unplug pause. I don't know why it's false in that particular case.

The second parameter probably shouldn't be there. The WPS should simply update itself if it is currently displayed.
