Task Description
I have an upgraded iPod 5.5 with CF 32Gb installed in CF-ZIF adapter. Both iTunes & Rockbox are working fine with this setup.
Then I tried to increase the storage space by using mSata SSD 64 GB + mSata-ZIF adapter. iTunes recovered the iPod successfully and it is working just fine. I installed Rockbox latest stable (non-stable latest = same thing) version & after the Rockbox boot-up it reporting an ATA error -11.
I wonder if this can be solved.
Thanks!

Task Description
Hi, I've been using the development version of Rockbox in my ipod classic 6th generation for about two years I think, but from some time, like a month or two, I'm experiencing playback issues as the track I'm listening suddenly skip forward or backward, or even jump for a few seconds on another mp3 file inside the ipod I was just listening before. I don't think is a ipod issue because I can listen the file inside the ipod with my computer player without problems.
There some way I can check older development revisions for the classic? It appears that it doesn't show in the dev build link on the site because is not fully supported. Thanks

13108 | Bugs | Music playback | Very Low | Random crashes when playing music | 2017-03-16 | somedude | 2017-12-16
Task Description
For a couple of months my Sansa Fuze v2 has been crashing randomly when playing music. Most of the time I just get a white screen with an error message. The last message I got was :
'undefined instruction at 0006DC8C'
(I think that last number varies at each crash)
This didn't happen with v3.13, but it's been happening with every daily build I've tested IIRC.
It doesn't happen very often so it's hard to reproduce. I listen to music in public transports about twice a day and this happens not more than once a week. It seems to happen more often when the battery is low (less than 10%). It generally happens early in a playback session, when the first or second track is played.
Sometimes I don't get a white screen, but the program freezes and some parts of the interface are surrounded with white frames. I don't know if it's the same bug or if it's unrelated.
Note that I'm always listening to music on a microSD card, and I haven't tried on the main memory.
PS: I chose "Sansa Fuze+" in the OS list because I couldn't find Sansa Fuse v2.

Task Description
I am having a couple of problems with Rockbox on my iRiver H140. The first issue is that all my songs in the files folder are displaying only in the order that they were uploaded onto the machine. If I go into the settings and choose to display Artists in alphabetical order it doesn't have any effect! I am left to endlessly scroll through the names or listen through the iriver player which doesn't play WAVs or FLACs so i can't access everything. Secondly, if I start up and resume playback of an album it doesn't then allow me to access the files folder when I navigate to it. I have to then restart my player and go to files from there. If I later come out to the main menu and choose Files, or any folder for that matter, it won't open. It's really frustrating. Any ideas of a fix?

Task Description
I downloaded this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrb0dHKJBR4 using the youtube-dl python program. The file plays and seeks correctly in foobar2000 and MPC-HC. But, on my clip+, whether I seek 10 seconds or 10 minutes into the file, it ends up playing a position of the file previous to the one displayed. For example, if I seek 50 seconds forward from the beginning, it will play the file from the start, while the screen still displays as if it's playing from 50 seconds onwards. Seeking to the end of the file will have it play a section from about 2 minutes earlier than it should be, while the time display and music will continue until 1:14:20, with the file actually being 1:12:46.
I did not hear the files being played slower than they should be, so it seems it's only an issue when seeking.
I've confirmed this happens on every AAC file downloaded by youtube-dl, and that re-encoding the same file to AAC using NERO encoder makes the problem dissapear.

I use a 64 GB MicroSD card in my Clip Zip and the stock firmware recognizes it. Rockbox recognizes it in the debug disk info screen and when connected to a computer via USB, I can read and write it through rockbox. However, when I try to access it or when I just check the regular rockbox info, rockbox does not show the SD card, nor can I play music from it.
The bug is also present in the current development version and is overall very similar to this one: https://www.rockbox.org/tracker/11798
I tried reinstalling rockbox and reformatting the SD card, but nothing worked.

Task Description
Using release 3.13 on the clip zip, if I were to put the main crossfeed setting on the right button of the quickscreen, it would cycle through to custom but then stop. If I use the left button of the quickscreen, then after custom there is a data abort crash.
Using build c64b59f-140304, both the left and right quickscreen buttons work to cycle through all 3 settings for crossfeed, but I can still trigger the crash if I use the left button. It seems to be sporadic and timing dependent, because if I click through the options quickly it works fine, but if I slow down and hold the buttons for longer at a time then it will eventually trigger.

Been using Rockbox for years, so it was really obvious when things got messed up somewhere in 3.12~3.13. In a nutshell, with this release, in a 1000+ playlist, I’m listening to the same songs over and over again when shuffle is on. To fix the issue, I have to turn shuffle OFF and then flip it back to ON every time I start a player. Never had this problem before. Don’t know if this affects all devices or just my H340 (yes! still going strong!).

After reboot the problem occurs again. It makes the ALAC playback impossible.
Now I'm using revision 9cb9f76M-140326 with patches from aroldan:

13036 | Bugs | User Interface | Very Low | Deleting a file and rewinding (without stopping replay)... | 2015-03-07 | Stefan Sitter | 2015-03-16
Task Description
Rockbox version 3.13 Wenn I delete a file being played, it continues to play (which is OK for me). But when I rewind in this file while playing, Rockbox hangs and does not respond to any key presses. The screen light stays on. I have to press the hard reset or wait until the battery is empty.
This also sometimes happens when I press fastforward, but it always happens when pressing rewind.
Desired behavior: - Preferred: permit rewinding/fastforwarding (and really delete the file only after stopping the replay) - ignore rewind/fast forward; alternatively - skip to the next file immediately after deleting.
Thanks for reading, and please contact me if you cannot reproduce this! I have a Iriver H140 and I must say that all my recordings are in wavpack (recordings made using SPDIF-IN), so I do not know whether this also happens with other file formats and with other players.

13044 | Bugs | Operating System/Drivers | Very Low | HOLD Switch Does Not Work | 2015-05-04 | Riku Kawai | 2015-07-17
Task Description
On my iPod Classic (160GB), the hold switch is not being detected anymore by Rockbox. Switching the hold switch does cause the buttons to stop responding and vice versa, but Rockbox is unaware of this event and continues to act as if it didn't happen. My backlight won't turn off when I switch hold like it's supposed to, and I can't exit plugins that have a hold switch activated menu like RockBoy.
I am using build c3c2c91, I just updated today. This bug has been present since as early as January, and I am aware that a task already exists for it, but it's buried deep because the poster marked it as Low severity.

Task Description
Heyup,
I’ve recently updated the build on my zip and the radio volume is greatly reduced. It`s very noticeable since I use a passive speaker connected straight to the player (top volume required). Volume of file playback is unaffected.
Here’s someone describing the same issue- http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=74910
Same symptoms including (notably) normal volume in the recording screen (gain=0), and region settings make no difference.
I have no note of which build I had before the update but it was from around the end of 2014. Looking thru the changelog yielded no clues.

13063 | Bugs | Recording | Very Low | Volume triggered recording fails to stop | 2016-01-09 | Luca Leonardo Scorcia | 2016-01-09
Task Description
Hi, I’m trying to record myself playing the guitar using my old, trusty FuzeV2 (both a very old version - sorry didn’t wrote it down but had to be at least a couple of years ago - and today’s version 87229a4). Recording parameters as follows:
Trigger: Repeat TrigType: New file Prerecord Time: 1s Start Above: -22dB for at least: 1s Stop Below: -26dB for at least: 1s Presplit Gap: 1s (don’t really understand what it does from the manual, but it says it usually has to be the same value of the Stop Below Time, so…)
Recording starts correctly when noise is detected according to conditions; then apparently it correctly detects the silence and stops the recording. But immediately the ‘Repeat Trigger’ parameter kicks in and _immediately starts a new recording_. At this point, the trigger status and the recording status aren’t matching anymore. The recording screen shows the recording file size growing, but the Trigger status is ‘Ready’. I have confirmed that on the actual file on disk the silence is meanwhile recorded.
Did I understand any of the parameters wrong or has anybody else the same problem?

Task Description
After upgrading from 3.13 to 3.14, when playing most of the ogg vorbis files in my library, a "beeping" sound sporadically occurs.
The sound is random (2 consecutive playbacks of the same track will beep on the same time).
All the files played fine with 3.13. MP3 files play just fine (I have not tested other formats yet).
Possibly interesting facts : Vorbis files with a lower bitrate (<100kpbs) seem to be less subject to this beep. It seems beep never occurs when screen is on.

That way, it could also be used as an “auto-off”, where it shuts off after one song. Also, and maybe this isnt possible, but you could have an option to play X number of songs and then stop, where the X is configurable.

Task Description
I'm using the newest build of Rockbox (2007-07-21) with an iAudio X5 20 GB and I have my tuner set to the European region. I encounter two little flaws in the FM-radio. I think they partially have to do with the player's hardware, but maybe Rockbox can improve the quality a bit.
1. The player is really sensitive to movement. The signal strength differs with every meter that you take the player with you. On top of that, most stations sound like they're not correctly tuned, but I can't get them any better. Maybe Rockbox could be more accurate in frequency selection? (Like 101.100, 101.125, 101.150.) I can get these stations quite well on my home radio. I don't expect the same quality from such a small device, but some finetuning would be great. The only problem is that it would take a while to scroll through the frequencies, but once set it'd be fine. 2. (I assume this is very hardware related.) The radio signal may change between stereo and mono. I have it set to stereo, but sometimes it just picks mono. I guess this is because of the hardware, since it is place related. I also didn't find any potential bugs in the source code.
What are your thoughts on this?
Oh, and keep up this good work! I really enjoy Rockbox!

Task Description
Over the past month? the radio menu has been disappearing. When I reinstall the menu comes back and the radio works and the debug screen shows the radio.
When it re-initializes the DB, the radio disappears and the debug screen said that there's is no hardware.
If I manually deleted the DB files, the radio comes back…
A few other people on anythingbutipod forum have mentioned the same issue.
Still an issue August 1, 2007: r14133-070801

Task Description
When the dc jack is plugged in to charge while the player is not running (switched off), the display says ‘ATA Error -11’. It can’t be reset except by removing the batteries and dc jack. I ran an older build from last year and it works fine.

Task Description
Recipe: 1) Play an album. Wait until buffering completes. 2) Skip from track 1 to track 2. No buffering occurs. 3) Skip from track 2 to track 1. No buffering occurs. 4) In the playlist viewer, select track 2. Rebuffering occurs, even though the track is buffered.
The same problem occurs in the opposite direction (e.g. after step 2, it should be possible to switch to track 1 using the playlist viewer without rebuffering).

Task Description
The Idle Poweroff only reboots my 1G iPod. I assume it should power it off or put it into a power saving mode. This forces it to use up the battery faster then normal unless I set the Hold button to boot into the iPod firmware to do a proper suspend when Rockbox reboots.

8618 | Bugs | Configuration | Very Low | Sansa C240 Dock Line Level Audio disabled | 2008-02-18 | Nate Byers | 2010-07-19
Task Description
On the Sansa C240 V1, to switch on the line level audio output on the dock connector pin 8 needs to go high. So jumping 3V+ from pin 22 will activate the line level audio. This works fine with the Sansa firmware but Rockbox produces no sound through the line level outputs on the C240, with pin 8 jumped or not jumped.

8639 | Bugs | LCD | Very Low | Backlight does not turn off when hold switch is on | 2008-02-24 | Jeff | 2008-02-25
Task Description
How to reproduce this:-
Use the remote to turn on the player while the hold switch is set to lock on the player. Backlight on both the player and the remote stay on constantly (timeout is set to 5s presently).
If you set the hold switch to unlock the backlight goes off after the timeout has expired and thereafter will turn off however the hold switch is set.

Rockbox Version:r16780-080324
Description: If the “Bookmark on Stop” option is set to “Yes” and there is no free space left on the storage, rockbox freezes/takes a REALLY long time if pressing the Poweoff(=Stop) button, because it cannot save the bookmark(or has to push out the less recent?).
I wondered why rockbox crashed if doing this til I discovered this bug.
Expected behavoiur: Instantls notify user there’s no space left and don’t save the bookmark
How to reproduce: 1. Power on the player, launch rockbox. Make sure there’s enough disk space. 2. Go Settings→General Settings→Bookmarking→Bookmark on Stop→Set to “Yes” 3. Reboot, connect to PC 4. Create a text file which is big enough to consume the rest of your free disk space 5. Restart Sansa into rockbox 6. Play a track 7. Press poweroff (short)

8913 | Bugs | Build environment | Very Low | compilation error due to GNU core utils BLOCK_SIZE valu... | 2008-04-20 | Peter D. | 2008-12-02
Task Description
Hi,
There is a compilation problem when the environment variable BLOCK_SIZE is set. It gave me errors about a comma.
This can be set or cleared systematically or on a command by command basis.
Suggestion one; unset BLOCK_SIZE and its relatives high in the build chain, but be prepared for POSIX to bite with 512 byte blocks.
Suggestion two; set LS_BLOCK_SIZE=1 high in the build chain. (And DF_BLOCK_SIZE=1024 and DU_BLOCK_SIZE=1024 ?)
Suggestion three; edit apps/lang/Makefile so that
$(SILENT)echo “#define MAX_LANGUAGE_SIZE `ls -ln $(OBJDIR)/* | awk ‘{print $$5}’ | sort -n | tail -1`” > $(HEADER)
becomes
$(SILENT)echo “#define MAX_LANGUAGE_SIZE `ls -ln –block-size=1 $(OBJDIR)/* | awk ‘{print $$5}’ | sort -n | tail -1`” > $(HEADER)
or
$(SILENT)echo “#define MAX_LANGUAGE_SIZE `LS_BLOCK_SIZE=1 ls -ln $(OBJDIR)/* | awk ‘{print $$5}’ | sort -n | tail -1`” > $(HEADER)
Suggestion four; just tell people that they are not allowed to have commas in their core utilities output (and be prepared to be bitten badly if the default block size ever changes).
BTW I *like* having thousands separators on my command line, so I have
export BLOCK_SIZE=\'1
export DF_BLOCK_SIZE=\'M
in my /etc/bashrc file.

9056 | Bugs | Codecs | Very Low | AC3 playback does not work for single ripped songs | 2008-05-30 | Przemysław Hołubowski | 2011-04-18
Task Description
RB does not play AC3 tracks which were extracted from DVD with splitting one-track/one-song (splitting by chapters).
In other words - if you extract single AC3 song RB will not be able to play it back, despite the fact foobar2000 and Winamp with AC3Filter plugin will play it fine.
It is not a problem related to extracting software as the problem occurs for AC3 files saved by DVD Audio Extractor and SmartRipper. (Files saved by them are bit-bit the same as file comparison showed).
Simulator does not display any debugging info when you try to play AC3 file which RB is unable to play.
AC3 playback is not completely broken because RB plays AC3 files if you extracted full AC3 track without splitting it.

9064 | Bugs | Music playback | Very Low | iRiver H340 skips when battery low | 2008-06-02 | Antony Stone | 2008-08-05
Task Description
- What behaviour you are seeing
Rockbox 17612-080523 on an iRiver H340 skips entire tracks, and also skips within tracks, when the battery level falls below 30%
- What behaviour you expected
No skipping.
- How to reproduce the bug
Allow the battery level to fall below 30% and start playing a directory of files. Some files will be skipped, some files will have parts skipped in the middle.
- The SVN revision you are using and if possible the particular SVN revision in which you think the bug was introduced.
17612-080523, no idea when the bug started.
If you need any further info on this bug, please ask and I’ll give more details. I have no other hardware to test whether this behaviour occurs on other Rockbox platforms.
