11608 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Fuze v1 playback issues 2010-09-06Orbidia682010-12-073 Task Description

Sansa Fuze v1
Build r27996 r28001 and r28016

A few days ago, I installed the new 2.0 rockbox firmware on the fuze so that I could use the USB mode and not go into the official firmware anymore. The USB mode seems to work well enough.

But in build r27996 the thermometer indicating the playback position in the song did not work when using many of the themes (XL Fuzed for example).

So then I tried r28001 and r28016 the next couple days. Now, not only does the playback bar not work, but a lot of the time, the 320 mp3 files don’t play back at all.

If I first turn on the player, and try to play a song, it works okay. But if I stop the song and try playing another song, often it will just show 0:00 for elapsed and 0:00 for remaining and nothing happens. One time, the song did play but the numer for time elapsed remaining kept jumping to random numbers.

Also, the battery gauge would jump between 98% to strange random numbers above 10000%
It crashed once just trying to playback. I’ve tried the last could builds on 3 different fuze v1 and they all had similar problems.

I’m back to r27996 because at least it plays the music.

It seems something generally broke in the last few builds and I was just trying to report the specific problems in case no one was aware of them.

8206 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Resuming playback from end of song after power on confu ...2007-11-21Richard Sweeney462011-04-065 Task Description

Resuming playback of a song that is a few seconds from ending after the player has been powered on confuses the playback.

The simplest way to reproduce this behaviour is to do the following (this works in the simulator too).

Select a song to play and let it play almost to the very end, make sure that another song is in the playlist to be played afterwards.

A few seconds before the end of the song, stop the playback and then shutdown Rockbox.

Start up Rockbox and resume playback. The playback will continue from half to three quarters of the way through the following song on the playlist.

This appears to be buffer related as fast forwarding to the end of the song, shutting down and resuming will not produce this behaviour.

11863 BugsMusic playbackLow Playback / buffer freezes 2011-01-06Andree Buschmann442011-04-0615 Task Description

Extracted from  FS#11830 . Since the issues described below also occur when  FS#11830  is not applied this bug report is generated.

On iPod nano 1G and iPod Video’s the following were issues observed:
1) Device does not fully start (no menu visible, background image loaded)
2) Playback stopps or does not start (WPS playtime is 0:00)
3) “data abort” on white screen

Except (1) and (3) the iPod’s UI responds. In situation (2) loading mpegplayer or shut down via longpress Play/Pause is not possible. In general plugins (tested with test_fps and test_mem) can be loaded and performed normally.

On iPod Video this happened with builds which based on r28915, r28940 and r28960. So, before the ATA but after some kernel/thread/priority changes.

I could provoke this failure twice when generating the DB during playback. But these failure also happened randomly during standard playback (mp3 and mpc in my case).

As long as we do not know what is happening I will assume this is not specific for PP502x processors.

448 BugsMusic playbackVery Low mp3 play stops mid-song 2002-10-17402005-03-09 Task Description

With Rockbox 1.4, I have had several instances where an
mp3 stops playing mid-song. It just freezes.

In the most recent occurence, I was playing a playlist
of 1902 files, with shuffle mode on. It stopped midway
through a song. If I hit the play/pause button, the
display would show that it was paused, and if I hit it
again, the play icon would show, though it wouldn’t
continue playing.
When I powered the unit down and restarted and resumed
playing, it began playing in the middle of the song
before on the playlist, not the song it got stuck on.
I went and selected the song it got stuck on, and it
played fine.
I used Rockbox 1.3 quite a bit, and never had any problems.

Here’s info about my machine:
Archos Jukebox Player 20
RockBox 1.4
rom 5.06
Battery: 74%

Unfortunately, I don’t have the model number as I don’t
have the unit handy.

Feel free to email me if you need anything else!

11476 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Fast Forward makes Musepack (SV8) "data abort" 2010-07-13Leo Witt392010-10-0212 Task Description

1. Player: Sansa Clip+ 8gb
2. Player Sansa Fuze V1 2gb
Version: 27409-100713
microSD: 8gb

Hello,

this is my first bugreport.

I have some strange behaviours when I want to play Musepack (SV8).

Sometimes, when I fast-forward (even a little) a .mpc-track, my Clip+ & Fuze V1 goes “data abort”.

For example my Clip+ says this:
Data abort
at 30006638
(domain 0, fault 8)
address 0xFBFAF60C

And my Fuze V1 says this:
Prefetch abort
at BB06574
FSR 0xFF
(domain 15, fault 15)

I’ve also tried the official 3.6 release for Fuve V1, but this is what happened too:
Data abort
at 30801020
FSR 0×8 (domain 0, fault 8)
adress 0xD106D033

or:

Data abort
at 30801020
FSR 0×8 (domain 0, fault 8)
adress 0ACFC87EF

And this is what I get sometimes with the 3.6 release, when I just wanted to start a .mpc :
Undefined instruction
at 2F900000

Hopefully, you guys can fix this.

Greetings

8513 BugsMusic playbackLow Playback occasionally repeats a track when rebuffering  ...2008-01-25Jeremy Cayot312008-04-03 Task Description

There is a new playback bug that causes a track to repeat even though repeat is DISABLED. The bug occurs as follows: play the first track in a directory and allow playback to continue normally through the playlist. I’m guessing that the repeat occurs when playback reaches the end of the buffer. The song at the end of the buffer? repeats and the playlist information moves to the next track. i.e. The ID3 info still shows the track that is repeated, but the playlist info shows “6 of 10” even the track 5 is being repeated. Clear enough?

This has occurred on my iRiver H140 and H320, Sansa e280 and Gigabeat F so it’s not target specific. It showed up within the last two weeks, but at this time I can’t be more specific about the date it was introduced.

8260 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Audio skips when buffer usefl empties 2007-12-01Andrea292008-05-093 Task Description

My iPod mini 2G has a problem with MP3s playback (I’ve only tried MP3s). After about 4-5 tracks, audio skips for about a quarter of second (sounds like a glitch), doesn’t matter where the playback is arrived. However in the buffer debug menu I found that the skip occurs when the bar “usefl” is near to zero and it’s going to refill with new data of next songs in playlist. I’ve tested the r15857, but it’s from about the r15840 that the problem occurs.
One more thing, sometimes audio skips even when I add some songs in the current playlist while playing other files.

8634 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Gapless Playback on H140 does not work with new builds 2008-02-23Avi272008-04-17 Task Description

I have been having trouble with new builds (since January 2008, I cannot remember exactly what date, but the problem persists with all new builds) when it comes to gapless playback on my H140. I have Ogg Vorbis and LAME MP3s on my iRiver, but mostly Vorbis (about 8000 files or so). I use the database, and I have the load to RAM option set to “Yes.” Whether or not I change this does not affect whether or not tracks play gaplessly or not.

Music plays gaplessly on the current build I am using (December 24) with or without a built database. Whether I update the build by overwriting or just deleting the old .rockbox folder, gapless playback stops working. I have tried formatting my iRiver, I have used both version 5 and 6 of the bootloader (currently using 6, problem originated with 5), but I have not been able to successfully use gapless playback with any new build of Rockbox.

Problem persists with both MP3s and Oggs.

6068 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Position display resets (0:00) on resume 2006-09-26Mikkel Bernhof Jakobsen262007-12-012 Task Description

When I stop playback (not pause) and resume thereafter, the position sometimes resets to 0:00. I noticed that this occurs when I’m listening to a large file (e.g. a live set) and I’ve passed a certain point in the file. I tried stopping and resuming playback within the first 5-10 minutes, and this works just fine. But I tried again at around 14 minutes, and this time it reset the position to 0:00. At this point, if I try seeking, it starts playback at the actual position which is shown.

8037 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Playback stops when playing mp3 followed by ogg 2007-10-28Bertrik Sikken262007-11-051 Task Description

With official build 15338, when I have an mp3 playing and select an ogg for playback, music playback continues a few seconds playing the mp3, then stops (not playing the ogg). The e200 seems to be in some kind of confused state now, it still responds to user input, but for example shutting it down results in a ‘shutting down…’ splash but it doesn’t actually shut down.

Playing two oggs after another or two mp3s after another works fine. Playing an mp3 after an ogg works fine too.

In the debug menu, the OS stacks screen shows 89% for the codec thread and 74% for the audio thread. The buffering thread menu shows pcm:0/52900, alloc 29703516/29745984, real 42496/29745984, usefl 8512/29745984.

Hi. I’ve just updated to revision r20096. My last revision was prior to r20093. Now, sometimes when the tracks change, the playback won’t start, and strange noises are reproduced instead. The time counter stays at 00:00. Pausing and resuming playback fixes it.

1105 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Extreme Loading Times 2003-03-16Nick Snider252003-04-15 Task Description

I am using rockbox version CVS-030315, on an Archos
Jukebox FM Recorder, OS version 1.30j.

I am having a problem similar to the one here:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&group_id=44306&atid=439118&aid=664793

I try to open a song, but it takes about 30 seconds.
It will sort of hang at the song folder, and then the
screen will go blank exep tfor the clock and the top
bar, and it will hang there for about 10-15 seconds,
and finally start playing.

If I press the skip track button, it does the same
thing; It plays the song for about 3 more seconds,
then just hangs on the song info for about 20 seconds.

Unlike this case, I have tried waiting 30 to 40 seconds
into a song, but it still did the same thing.

12093 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Playback hanging after codec/playback rework 2011-05-03Andree Buschmann232011-05-094 Task Description

I experienced several hangups during playback in the middle of tracks. Those hangups appeared nearly each 1h of playback. Seek fwd/rwd or play/pause does not solve the issue. Skipping forward lets the next track play normally. The track that formerly hung up can be played normally after a skip.

Player: iPod nano 2G
Tracks: mpc / mp3

Hangups occured with mpc only, but that might just be an effect of my music collection which mostly consists of mpc.

Thread states:
codec *R 16 16 11% (⇒ always *R, not alternating *R/T)
audio T 15 15 57%
buffering T 15 15 25%

I will attach the .config file later.

2305 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Playback stops on disk access 2004-08-16NatG232005-03-09 Task Description

Hi,

First of all my complete kudos and respect for building
this wonderful OS. I love the features and the whole
concept of an alternative to corporate software, and am
thus a big fan of open source projects.

Two things are happening since I upgraded my JBR 20
(Archos firmware v 1.28) to Rockbox 2.2.:

One, on a full battery (or partially charged) the machine
will stop playing, usually on the first song, about 2/3 to
3/4 through the song when it goes to read the disk.
Sometimes I get lucky and it will play 4 or 5 songs
before this happens, but most of the time it happens on
the first song every time.

The other thing that happens is that while playing with
the charger plugged in, it will quit on me suddenly after
anywhere from one to several hours.

Neither of these problems appear to be the Red Led
Dead bug, as the red LED only comes on briefly and the
machine doesn’t actually crash, it just returns to the
menu from which the song was run.

I have tried reinstalling Rockbox 2.2 and also the daily
build of 8/14/04, both with no success. The machine is
not cold or moving when this happens.

Please let me know if there’s any more info I can
provide. I am not an expert programmer but I’m happy to
do whatever I can to help diagnose this.

Thanks,

Nat

8386 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Problem when fast forwarding and then quickly changing  ...2007-12-30Kankkis232009-09-203 Task Description

I just installed Rockbox to an 80GB iPod (5.5 gen)

I noticed a small bug when I was fast forwarding a track; if you fast forward and shortly afterwards change the track to the next one, the new track doesn’t play. In other words push and keep pushing the “next” button, release and press it again, Rockbox changes the song, but doesn’t play it.

Pressing play/pause doesn’t do anything, neither does changing the track (the track changes, but doesn’t play)

Only when you fast forward a few seconds, playback starts again.

9066 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Threads hanging if force track switching near buffer em ...2008-06-03Sergey Babichev232011-02-13 Task Description

Build 17661 (and earlier) on Gigabeat F20, iCatcher.
Playing directory containing FLAC files. Last file ends.
In file browser select and load another track/directory (File still plays).
Result - ‘Unknown track’, ‘Unknown album’, valid file name. Silence … Debug|Show buffering thread - all empty, except bottom one.
In this state select/play does not work, any next file would get the same ‘Unknown album’ and still silence.
Only reboot helps.
I suppose it happens when buffering thread filling (or just filled) buffers, forcing track switching must empty filled buffers and refill it. Empty is OK, but filling is no..
Switch to rockbox dated before 2007/08 - the error gone.

Several problem occurs with those format on Fuze+’s port. The problem has been identified as player specific as it doesn’t occurs on clip+ and has been seen on 2 differents Fuze+ unit.

The problem are quite random which lead to difficulties to track them down precisely. Nevertheless, 3 differents phases can be observe regarding the behaviour of the fuze+ and mpc files:

- Normal behaviour (files can be selected, play, playlist also play without problem)
- Non-playing behauviour (files are skipped one after the other till the end of the dynamic play list) – Nothing consistent was found on how to go from normal into non-playing behaviour or reverse.
- Buggy behaviour (you can actually play and skip between files but after playing one file, the player will just hang stucked or go into panic at the moment to load the next one:
Two different value set were observed for now (backtrace remains the same):
Data abort at 63E57B28

A: 0x63E56AE8

or:

A: 0x63E56AE8
A: 0x60040D28
A: 0x6003D87C
A: 0x6003DB50
backtrace end

Several tests were made so far to establish that:

1) The problem is not files specific as normal behaviour and non-playing and buggy behaviour occurs on the same sets of files. Differents tag coding and even wiping all the tag away didn’t help either.

2) The problem is not related to database as not building it and/or erasing all DB files doesn’t wipe out the buggy behaviour.

3) The problem ist not be related to specific settings or if so, it is related to defaut settings. Recompiling, reinstalling rockbox from scratch doesn’t solve the buggy behaviour

4) Nothing consistent was found about how the player goes from normal to non-playing or reverse. However some consistent (systematical) way to go from non-playing to buggy phase was found:
- Reinitialize the database (wether if there are no DB or an already present up-to-date one). But the player will then be back on non-playing phases after reboot.
- Playing a big directory with a lot of files after skipping 20 to 50 of then the player will eventually start playing one of then (a random one nothing consistent here to)
- desactivating the directory’s cache option (settings > system > disk) this way is the only way to remains even after reboot.

5) the backtrace of panic occuring in buggy behaviour was given into the ./utils/analisys/find_address.pl tool with the following result:
https://gist.github.com/1434466

6) Flac format as been seen with the same non-playing behviour. But buggy phases gave no backtrace:

iPod 4G 20gig grayscale freezes during mp3 playback and displays the Data Abort at 0004A704 error, requiring a restart to begin listening to music again. WPS is zezayer, crossfeed is on with the default settings, and tag cache is enabled but not auto updating. This occurs on all the latest CVS builds, current build on the iPod is 060723-0143.  8651 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Screeching, High-Pitched Noise after Crossfade 2008-02-26Humberto Santana202008-03-303 Task Description

THIS IS A DIFFICULT ONE!

First, I must say that I’ve found this bug VERY difficult to report, because although quite frequent, it is VERY “slippery” (maybe attempted to be described in the past many times (see [*] below) - from what I found in the flyspray & forums) I kind of feel like a ghostbuster here!. I’ve been “coexisting” with it since I installed Rockbox in November/07. It is related to crossfading, which I use all the time (main reason for coming to Rockbox!). I will do my best to give the relevant information I’ve found, and also, I kindly request experts’ help/ideas on what to check/try in order to find the causes with more accuracy, if that’s necessary in addition to the information I present, in order to solve the bug (please notice that this is NOT a support request!).

- iPod video 80GB 5.5G
- rockbox r16422 (but also happened in previous versions, at least from November/07 to this version)
- mp3 format (both in variable and constant bitrates)

*Description*

Eventually, shortly after crossfading (or right during the crossfading process), playback stops advancing and a screeching, high-pitched, almost hurting, repeating noise begins. I’ve attached a recording of the problem so that you can actually hear it (sorry about the sound quality, I didn’t find a better way than a mic).

Other functions seem to keep on working normally during this noise problem (wps info, menu browsing, etc). To stop the noise, I’ve used the Prev on the clickwheel, and the current song re-starts ok. If I attempt a forward skip, the noise continues. If I pause, and then resume, the noise continues. If I reboot, when going back to “now playing”, it resumes OK but in the previous song to the bug, close to the end of that song.

*To Reproduce*

Now THIS is the main difficulty with this bug, I haven’t found a way to reproduce it precisely (I’ve invested a lot of time in this, but all I’ve got is what’s describe here). I just use crossfading continuously, and sooner or later, the bug appears. In order to give more information about this, I took two actions. 1. I checked the view options in the “debug menu”, and 2. I’ve tried different setting combinations, discarding possible causes.

1. In the debug menus, I’ve noticed the following:

- In the “View buffering thread” option, the pcm bar/values rise almost to the top and stay there during the noise. In normal operation, it goes down after the crossfading process. Also, the CPU freq is 30Mhz during the problem.
Typical values on this screen during the problem are (values vary slightly from bug to bug):

pcm: 3170592/3175200
alloc: 56297688/60322272
real: 54987063/60322272
userfl: 394555113/60322272
data_rem:4567692
track count: 6 (has happened with values 0 to 7, so far)
handle count: 21 (has happened also with i.e values of 18)
cpu freq: 30Mhz (always ends with that value when the bug occurs)
boost ratio: begins with 100% when the problem starts, goes down gradually to 0%. Is the THIS IS THE ONLY VALUE ON THIS SCREEN THAT CHANGES DURING THE PROBLEM, THE OTHERS REMAIL STATIC.
pcmbufdesc: 92/129

- In the CPU Frequency option (debug menu), the values during the bug are: (ALWAYS)
Frequency: 30000000
boost_counter: 0

2. Discarded possible causes

Given that crossfading is enabled (different fade-in and fade-out durations, fade-in delay set to 0, fade-out delay set in tests to a value > 0, fade-out mode set to crossfade), I’ve tried different combinations for the following settings, but since the bug occurs with or without these settings, I guess they can be discarded as possible causes:

- Equalizer enabled or disabled, different specific values.
- All the other “sound settings” were always in their default values.
- Replaygain enabled or disabled, any mode, clipping enabled or disabled, pre-amp any value.
- Any mp3 bitrates (different kbps and/or variable-constant rates in songs involved during crossfading)
- Shuffle enabled or disabled, any mode.
- Repeat enabled or disabled, any mode.
- All the other “playback settings” were always in their default values.
- Any wps loaded (just in case the theme .cfg could have some effect)

[Also in the attachment a typical .cfg]

3. Additional information

Because I can’t be 100% sure that the following information relates to the bug, and because this doesn’t happen ALL the times the problem occurs, I just put it here in case it gives someone a clue:

After the problem occurs:
- Sometimes after normal playback is restored, crossfade doesn’t work anymore. At the end of the song it sort of begins the crossfading process, but the songs are not mixed finally.
- Sometimes the iPod crushes when operating it after the bug restore, the screen is the theme’s wps .bmp, the text displayed “Undefined Instruction at 00069DC4 (0) [code’s last 3 digits vary]
- Sometimes browsing and normal menu operation becomes very, very slow

Thanks in advance! And if there is something else that I can do to help, please just let me know.

8320 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Incorrect song information is displayed for songs when  ...2007-12-14Alex192008-04-181 Task Description

I’ve noticed a problem while going through the songs in the playlist, if you go through the songs fast enough without allowing for the fade in/out effect to apply, the songs playing and the song titles get offset from each other.

For example: If I select to listen to the a playlist with 30+ songs and if I quickly switch to the 10th song by pressing the NEXT button on the iPod, the title of the song shown would be of a previous song that I skipped already, while the song playing would be the correct one.

So if you had songs A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K in your playlist (in that order) and you were to quickly switch to song J, the title of song H or I would be shown on the screen, while song J would be the one playing. So you could have the title for one song displayed on the ipod and a completely different song playing.

I was able to recreate this problem with both current build (r15920-071213) and last week’s build.

I have also confirmed that the problem corrects itself when the current song finishes playing and switches to the next song in the playlist automatically.

You can do the following to recreate the problem:
1) Download Rockbox current build and extract it to the ipod.
2) Boot into Rockbox and initialize the database, reboot again to use it.
3) Open an album from the database that contains a fair amount of songs (the resulting playlist needs to have 10-15+ songs).
4) Select a song from the resulting playlist, make sure that its the correct song playing.
5) Quickly press “»” (NEXT) button several times (10 or 15 times).
6) You will start seeing the screen trying to catch up and when it finally does, the song information displayed on the screen should not match the song that is actually playing. You may need to press next/previous buttons a few more times to see this behavior.

I am listening to .mp3 files which were sorted into folders by iTunes with iTunes-specific cryptic filenames. Rockbox displays id3 information for these files, so thats the part that is getting displayed incorrectly and goes “out of sync” with the actual song playing.

8455 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Some songs do not get played in whole. 2008-01-13Ian D.182008-03-093 Task Description

I have had this problem with most if not all of the more recent rockbox builds (last couple of months). Right now I am using version r16053 from the 11th of January, 2008. The problem I am having is that sometimes, for no reason the first 5 seconds of a song play and then rockbox skips to the next track. The other day I had this happen for a whole album (Sublime - 40 oz. to Freedom). I have had this problem on OGG, MP3, AAC, and FLAC coded songs, and so it seems the type of file doesn’t make a difference. I have an 80GB iPod video, but this problem may or may not happen on other platforms, see if it happens to you. Attatched is a copy of my settings.

Playing a VBR mp3 from the current playlist browser crashes iaudio X5 when the WPS has the next track info. (also crashes the latest X5 simulator)

To reproduce
1) select a WPS with the next track info statically on the screen(not flipped in)
2) create a playlist with VBR encoded mp3 files in it
3) from the WPS, long select, playlist, view current playlist
4) browse to a known VBR mp3 and play it
5) attempt to return to the WPS screen (BOOM! at least for me)

I have had to work around this issue by flipping to the next track info from a 1 sec static text in the WPS.

8836 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Short pcmbuf_beep() (AKA Keyclick) doesn't work properl ...2008-04-01Steve Bavin182008-12-115 Task Description

The attached patch revises pcmbuf_beep() in an attempt to kill the beeeeep of death that occurs on PortalPlayer targets when keyclick is enabled.

With this patch, on c200, the unpleasent beep seems to have gone, but the keyclick isn’t very reliable:
- Before playback is started, the keyclick has an extra click (probably when pcm playback begins)
- While playback is in progress, the keyclick sounds correct, but is delayed (could the 1/8th second delay be removed?)
- After playback then STOP, the very first keyclick works, but subsequent ones are almost inaudible.

I’ve no idea why, but if the un-needed “memset(bufstart, 0, samples * 4);” is removed, then the keyclick after playback rarely sounds at all. I guess it’s something to do with memory caching, but am not a low-level expert.

Also, it would be good if the pcmbuf static variable audiobuffer could be renamed, to avoid potential confusion with the audiobuffer declared in buffer.c.

5570 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Voicing causes freeze on music playback 2006-06-19Mike Holden172006-08-291 Task Description

If I enable voicing of any kind, then it causes major problems on my 340, with a daily build from the last couple of days. Currently loaded is CVS-20060619.

First off, no file/dir voicing occurs.

Second off, when I play a music file, although the file loads and the WPS shows correct data, no playback occurs, and the counter sticks at 0:00. Sometimes you will hear a tiny fraction of playback, but nothing more. The unit just stops there. It will respond ok to pause/play, and will respond to stop. However when pressing stop, it gets as far as the Creating Bookmark splash, and locks up completely, needing a hard reset with a paperclip.

After a bit of messing around trying to find which build broke it (it used to work, so I thought) I finally hit on what the problem is - while investigating another issue with voicing, I renamed my english.voice file to stop it being loaded on bootup, and this is totally the cause of the problem. If I rename it back to english.voice, everyting works as expected, but if in rename it to EEEenglish.voice, then file/dir voicings fail, and the unit locks up as described above.

The workaround is obvious (load the file and name it correctly), but this bug will hit any user who wants to voice files and dirs, but who doesn’t have an appropriate voice file loaded.

Recorder 8MB 20050523

When shuffling a playlist, sometimes almost every third
to fifth song gets played twice. Fully. From start to
end. (Playlist is about 13000 songs)
It shows up in the playlist (editor) only once and the
bahaviour is not repeatable by skipping back and
replaying the song.

The songs in the playlist before and after *are there*
and gets played, when selected from the playlist editor.

rockbox-recorder8mb-20041226.zip didn’t have this
behaviour.

Anything else you need to know? Should I test something?

Thank you.

Build used: r16137-080122.
Player: iRiver iHP-140

Scenario:
Folder contains a number of tracks in ogg format

Use browser to select a track (say track 3)
- track begins to play.
Press ‘next’
- next track begins to play (now track 4)
As playback starts on new track press ‘prev’ - next track plays (track 5)
As playback starts on new track press ‘prev’ - next track plays (track 6)

It seems that as the next track is being buffered pressing ‘prev’ causes it to move to the ‘next’ track. (this is a guess)

This only seems to happen for ogg files. I can’t make it happen on mp3

13108BugsMusic playbackVery LowRandom crashes when playing music2017-03-16somedude162017-12-16 Task Description

For a couple of months my Sansa Fuze v2 has been crashing randomly when playing music. Most of the time I just get a white screen with an error message. The last message I got was :

'undefined instruction at 0006DC8C'

(I think that last number varies at each crash)

This didn't happen with v3.13, but it's been happening with every daily build I've tested IIRC.

It doesn't happen very often so it's hard to reproduce. I listen to music in public transports about twice a day and this happens not more than once a week. It seems to happen more often when the battery is low (less than 10%). It generally happens early in a playback session, when the first or second track is played.

Sometimes I don't get a white screen, but the program freezes and some parts of the interface are surrounded with white frames. I don't know if it's the same bug or if it's unrelated.

Note that I'm always listening to music on a microSD card, and I haven't tried on the main memory.

PS: I chose "Sansa Fuze+" in the OS list because I couldn't find Sansa Fuse v2.

7257 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Playback resumes while paused when pressing back 2007-06-04Beau Steward162007-07-051 Task Description

This is a fresh build on an iPod 5G. I downloaded the latest source and manually built it on kermit.pimpinwithmuppets.com build server.

What happens is if I pause the playback, then hit the back button to go back to the beginning of the song, it does go back to the beginning of the song, but resumes playback. On my custom WPS, it still shows “paused”, but the counters do count and it does play the music. If I hit pause/play, it will change the status of playback only, but does not affect actual playback. Hitting pause/play once again will pause playback.

This is not a new bug to me. When I last encountered it, I downloaded the latest source and built it on my build server, and it appeared to be fix. Unfortunately, I don’t have build releases and dates to back this up.

10115 BugsMusic playbackVery Low playback of FLAC files on iRiver iHP-120 and H320 pause ...2009-04-09Mark Nipper162009-05-081 Task Description

This has happened a decent number of times on both players when playing back FLAC files. Unfortunately, it’s not consistent either. I’ve had a song pause for a few seconds during playback in a spot, rewind after the song finishes, and the next time through it plays through the entire song with no stutters. I got my H320 first, but within a few songs of using my iHP-120 I also just got, this problem happened.

I searched elsewhere and didn’t see any mention of this. I’m not sure if it’s a general Rockbox issue across players or specific to the iRiver players. Let me know if I can do anything to try to help debug this. I thought it also might have been just the hard drives in the units delaying playback while they were trying to spin up or some such, but I’m not sure how much Rockbox is caching during playback and what the drive activity looks like during normal usage.

It’s worth mentioning that no other plugins were running at the time of these incidents. I’ve got a minimal installation on both players.

11764 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Fastforwarding, Rewinding, or Selecting a different fil ...2010-11-18menachem shapiro162011-03-091 Task Description

Summary:

I have an iRiver 20GB H10 running Rockbox 3.7. I recently updated from 3.4 (or 3.5 – i’m not entirely sure) and have started noticing the following problems.

When I’m listening to audio files on my mp3, I’ll often fast forward or rewind a little bit, depending on what I’m listening to. Sometimes while a file is playing, I will browse my files and select another one to play.

Most of the time this works as expected but sometimes (maybe %10-15 of the time) playback will get corrupted, and the only solution is to reboot the player. Most commonly, the file looks like it loads but sound stops working. Trying to get it working again by loading another file (using a bookmark or just clicking on the file) or reloading the file doesn’t work. Instead the player freezes up and the only solution is to restart the player. However, powering down takes a lot longer than usual, and I have to hold down the power key the whole time. Then it seems like the player doesn’t go off until I let go the power key I had been holding. Most of the time, rebooting the player works and the file continues playing.

Less commonly, when I try to load a new file instead of playing all I get it a bunch of static, which continues until I reboot the player.

I have attached a resent settings dump of my player.

Hi

A friend of mine did show me your website yesterday and I got pretty excited about all the features you offer for my good OLD iHP140, so I downloaded and installed it and what can I say? FANTASTIC … I really love what you did, it's incredible. I always thought that this little machine could do much more things than iRiver itself offers.

BUT … you know, I love crossfading so when I heard that my iRiver can do that, I had to activate it and it worked - BUT … after a while, I was playing with ALL THOSE Options (jeez … that's way too much for a small german like me) and decided that crossfading should be ony available for SHUFFLE-Play and I tried to activate it … I was listening to a song and pushed the button and then - my iRiver freezes and nothing I could do changed anything. The player itself did shutdown after 10 minutes (the time I did set up for shut down) and whenever tried to re-activate crossfading, the same happens - it's kinda frustrating, you know?

Oh, just to make sure, I set my player to GERMAN language

Can someone please help me or fix that problem?

Brandon Low repaired the bug http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/5906 by this commit:
17 Oct 12:56 Brandon Low apps/playback.c 1.365 Remove fill_bytesleft, simplify some buffering code, fix  bug 5906  Thank you, Brandon.

Unfortunately this repair revealed a new bug which could be observed under the same conditions. To be able to hear the gap while reproducing the bug use tracks which should play without a gap between them.

1. Play an MP3 file (not the last one in a directory).
2. Seek near to the end of the file (i.e. 30 seconds before the end).
3. Stop the playback. (A resume point is stored.)
4. Resume the playback by pressing PLAY.
5. Seek before the time point of resume. (Rockbock will rebuffer probably just the remainder of the track.)
6. Wait till the beginning of the next track.
7. Rockbox will start to buffer the next track too late - about 1 second before the end of the playing track although the default 5 seconds Anti-skip buffer is configured. As a result a gap will appear between the tracks.

Last reproduced on iriver H120, Rockbox CVS 061018-1412.
