r23640

It’s been a while since this issue came up. There is a possibility that it started after or somewhere around r23582. I hope this info helps.

So here is how you recreate the problem. You go into the sound options while a song is playing, go to pitch, and turn the pitch down to something like %80. You can hear the clicks and pops in sound right there. These clicks and pops continue for a short period of time, like 30 seconds. Then they stop.

I’m reporting a bug which we tracked down in the german rockbox forum.
Rockbox plays a loud distortion (without music) if you have bass and equalizer both turned on. Any bass setting above 0 shows this behavior.
Tested with a current build after reseting the settings. (r23566-091108)

steps to reproduce:
01. download current build
02. reset settings
03. apply bass

(no distortion this far when resuming playback via menu)

04. apply EQ, > distortion when resuming playback after stop
05. turn off bass > no distortion

10684 BugsMusic playbackVery Low stereo channels swap after pause - resume 2009-10-18Turke62009-10-211 Task Description

All songs start with the original stereo channels, no problem on that. But whenever you pause and resume quickly, you can notice that the stereo channels have swapped, right becoming left, and left becoming right. If you pause and resume again in a quick manner, stereo channels do swap again, to the original output positions. This actions repeats itself in every fast pause - resume action.

ipod nano - 2nd generation.

10614BugsMusic playbackVery LowDeleting files in USB mode can confuse resume playback/...2009-09-23Alex Bennee142010-04-09 Task Description

Steps to reproduce:

1. Start listening to a series of podcasts, say 1-5
2. After listening to >1 plug player into computer during playback of subsequent podcast
3. Delete the podcasts you have already listened to (not what your currently listening to)
4. Eject/Unplug player from computer
5. Attempt to resume playback

This fails for both resume and Recent Bookmarks functionality. I assume this is somehow tied in with playlist support as files from the playlist have been deleted.

Where does Recent Bookmarks keep it's information? Should the bookmark also keep the individual file referenced so it can resume in this case?

Tested on R21184M-090604

Will test on latest version once my main machine is back on internet.

I noticed today while playing a track back with timestretch enabled (increased originally to 175% speed, but noticed it on further tests with any speed change) that the file is completely garbled on playback if the Limiter Preamp set to anything other than 0 dB. If you enable both together (and actually change the timestrech/preamp value, 100%/+0.0dB works fine since they’re effectively inactive then), the output is plain garbage.

Using either is fine.

BTW: Did anyone think of moving limiter preamp into the replaygain setting with a somewhat better name (such as intelligent preamp?).

10527 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Clicking in Ver 3.3 Ipod 5gen. 2009-08-15Drew Nielsen102009-10-18 Task Description

I would like to report a bug with RB ver 3.3 on a 5gen Ipod.
When playing flac files I get a random clicking sound in the left channel.
I have 2 5 gen ipods (60gb and 80gb) and they both do this with Ver 3.3.
I reinstalled Ver 3.3 and it still clicks.
When I went back to Ver 3.1 this clicking stopped.
This sound is very similar to the clicking in Ver 3.2 that was fixed, but not as frequent.
This sound can be heard on more than 1 file. I moved one of the files that was doing this to my computer and played it using Zoomplayer and no clicking.
Thanks for all the great work, Rockbox is great.

Usually, but not always, if I try to resume playback of an mp3 with a cue-sheet right after powering on the player, the player hangs with the following text at the top:

“Data abort

A couple of times the screen has also gone totally blank, with either a black or grey background. Strangely enough, I’ve yet only been able to reproduce this with the cabbiev2 skin. While using e.g. the rockboxed-theme, playback always starts fine. I’ve experienced this using v. 3.2, 3.3 and the newest svn version. I’ve also tried different mp3’s and cue-sheets, both with and without cover art, and had similar experiences with all of them. However, if I remove cue-sheet support from the settings, the mp3’s always playback fine.

There are a number of functions in dsp.c that operate with a do-while loop. Most of these are contingent upon the count argument being greater than zero. While this should always be true, these functions are not fault tolerant and will exhibit unwanted results if called with a count of zero. So I’ve changed these do-while loops to equivalent while loops.

I’ve also changed an unrelated comment mistake describing the nature of a replaygain variable.

I have a 30GB 5.5 Generation iPod Video.

I’m running 3.3

Any attempt to plug it into an audio-out adapter that runs from the bottom connector (rather than the simple headphone jack) causes rockbox to stop playing music and freeze. The scroll wheel will remain responsive as will the hold key. However, no other buttons or other input will respond. You cannot change screens or select anything or navigate other than to scroll up and down. A forced reboot must be done to regain control of Rockbox.

Any/all simply audio adapters that connect through the bottom connector have worked without problem in 3.1 and 3.2, Reinstalling either of those has this working again. Connecting to anything with 3.3 consistently causes this crash however.

If anyone can replicate this that would be great. If anyone has further questions for me or would like me to try trouble shooting in any manner, please let me know. I’m not a coder though so I’m a little new at this.

Thanks!

10441 BugsMusic playbackVery Low USB transfer as Rockbox USB corrupts flac files 2009-07-16Chris112009-10-30 Task Description

Many flac files copied to device when connected as Rockbox USB device, rather than original firmware USB device become corrupted.
This also happen with the c200. Unknown if other audio formats are affected. Operating system typically used for transfer is Windows XP 64bit. The problem is not the files themselves, because the original ones from the computer play fine on the computer, or when the files are transferred to the device using the original firmware USB device.
However, the files that were corrupted on the device, when played on the computer show signs of skips and pops, but still play through the problem areas. Rockbox skips to the next song when the problems are encountered on the device.

Hi,
I have following problem. If I make player go in stop mode (little square is displayed instead of pause or play symbol) then when I resume playback only very laud static noise is played. This happens every time I hold play/pause button for long time, I start recording and then go back an resume playing or I connect USB port to pc and after disconnecting it I resume play. To stop this behavior after it has occurred I must restart rockbox.

I hope somebody can check this or give me some directions where to look in the code so perhaps I can make changes in the code myself.

10377 BugsMusic playbackVery Low PCM buffer remainder is played under too many condition ...2009-06-24Jeffrey Goode62009-06-295 Task Description

The pcmbuf_play_remainder() routine in pcmbuf.c was intended to ensure that the last samples were played out of the buffer at the end of the playlist. This was done from a call in playback.c, but the placement of that call causes pcmbuf_play_remainder() to be called for all stops. This caused a subtle bug in another patch that could crash the player under certain conditions.

This patch changes the placement of the call so that it’s only invoked at the end of the playlist as intended.

10352 BugsMusic playbackVery Low FEATURE REQUEST: Pause on song end 2009-06-19Josh Audette2009-06-19 Task Description

Feature request:

WPS Context Menu, add option:
* Pause at song end

Why? Because it has aesthetic advantages over immediate-pause in many cases.

More detail:
Immediate-pause is great for interruptions, such as someone talking to you, an incoming phone call, etc.

There are other times, such as when you are close to arriving at destination in your car, are about to get up and go do something, etc. when you would prefer to finish the current song and then pause.

Why not simply wait 'til you hear the end of the song and then pause it?

If you're working on a task this is very inefficient (and dangerous if the task happens to be
that you're driving).

Another consideration: if you're doing a task you may get so wrapped up in it – or if you're an audiophile you may get wrapped up in enjoying the music – that you forget to pause before the next one starts. Then you suffer the disappointment of hearing some of the next song before you pause and it lingers, unfinished, in your mind's ear.

This feature request is perfect for Rockbox, the open-source firmware that is not limited by proprietary marketroids arbitrarily deciding what's good for people. The firmware with a rich-feature set that appeals to people who are passionate about having their hardware do the things they want it to do.

I am having problems playing music. I can only play it for some time before the ipod crashes on me. I have converted an mp3 file into a wav and wma file to test if the problem persists only on certain formats, and I have found that mp3 files will play for about 20 seconds before crashing, wav about 5 seconds, but wma files work just fine and play all the way through. Im thinking it must be something to do with the codecs, but I dont know.

When the Ipod crashes, I get these messages; “Undefined instruction at 03E808A4 (0)” for mp3 files, and “Data abort at 00009E7C (0)” for wav files. Then I must “Hard Reset” the Ipod in order to unfreeze it.

10335 BugsMusic playbackVery Low End of file not played at end of playlist 2009-06-15Jeffrey Goode52009-06-173 Task Description

The last thousand or so samples of a file are not output when played as the last file in the playlist.

To duplicate, play the attached file with another file following it in the playlist, even itself using repeat. There is a distinct chirp at the very end that will be played if another file follows, which is correct. However, if the file is played at the end of the playlist, the chirp is not played. The last samples are omitted from playback.

This behavior occurs on the Sansa e200 target and in the Sansa e200 simulator build. It also occurs on other simulator builds: iriver H120/H140, Creative Zen Vision, and iPod Nano. I didn’t try to build others.

10321 BugsMusic playbackVery Low bugs with pitch screen 2009-06-12alex wallis42013-05-16 Task Description

I have noticed two bugs with the pitch screen.
Firstly there is no speech within it, meaning that when you are changing modes to either adjust pitch, pitch and speed or just speed, you get no speech feedback to indicate what mode you have just enabled.

Secondly I have noticed that when altering pitch, if I am lowering it if I move the slider down past a certain point, the sound just completely cuts off til I move the joystick back to increase the pitch.
the sound just suddenly cuts off past a certain pitch.
I can’t tell you what pitch this is as obviously at the moment there is no speech feedback to indicate what speed or pitch I have set the player to.

The only target I have been able to experience the sound cutting off with is the h140 as I own no other targets.
I assume the lack of speech applies to all targets though.

10163 BugsMusic playbackVery Low wierd behaviour when changing folder name while plaing  ...2009-04-23Johannes Linke32011-02-03 Task Description

second category: playlists. sorry for the long text.

well, it’s quite easy to reproduce: play some music in a folder. i guess the music should not fit into the buffer. then change the folder name of a parent directory.

music continues as normal. but if you skip a few times to the next track (i think other actions are also possible, and sometimes skipping doesn’t work….) the music stops.

from now on it’s not possible to skip or play music. ff/rw is possible, but the music doesn’t play afterwards. selecting other music doesn’t work, right now rockbox apparently freezes at the “loading…“-splash. only a hard reset helps.
the cpu-frequency is at the max, boost is 100%.
and shutting down needs ~10s, maybe due to the high cpu-load.

if you create a playlist with some songs from one folder in it, change the name of the folder, start the playlist, and quickly press PLAY, you will see the information of a song of the playlist. i think its the song which is currently loaded, if you press PLAY immediately after selecting the playlist, it will be son no. 10 or such. if you wait, it will be a song which is more at the end of the playlist. if you wait longer (i guess when the playlist is completely loaded) it will be track one. in any case, the time of the song is 0:00 and doesn’t increase; rockbox doesn’t play music. after a while it shows shortly (root) (root), and then goes to the main menu.

i think there are some more interesting things to discover :) if nobody knows the cause for this at once, i’ll do some further “tests”.

10157 BugsMusic playbackVery Low inaccurate seeking while paused 2009-04-22Michael Chicoine72009-06-302 Task Description

r20769 and prior

Fails on device and simulator. Does not fail with flac, wma, ogg, wav

Steps to duplicate failure:
1) start playback of mp3 file (vbr and cbr both fail)
2) pause playback
3) seek forward and stop - this first seek after pausing will always stop where you release the seek button
4) seek forward again and stop - from this point, when you release the seek button, the track will back up 3 seconds from where it was when seek stopped
5) the same happens if you seek backward

This behavior is also causes problems with cuesheet support. If you pause an mp3 file that has a cuesheet and use the skip forward or reverse, it leaves you 3 seconds prior to where it should. Subsequent skip forwards are ineffective. Apparently, it skips to the next track in the cuesheet which is 3 seconds forward and then goes back 3 seconds, leaving you where you started.

I've tested this on Gigabeat S, though it seems reasonable that it's a swplayback / buffering issue.

Tested in r20728.

File length is ~21hrs long (audiobook). I have a bookmark 17.5 hours into the file. If I resume the bookmark all is well. If I seek, for example, one second from where I am, I get audio completely unrelated to where I am. If I stop and then resume playback, it resumes that unrelated audio, but the progress bar is now showing that I'm playing from 5.5 hours into the file (which is approximately correct judging from the part of the book I'm now hearing).

10115 BugsMusic playbackVery Low playback of FLAC files on iRiver iHP-120 and H320 pause ...2009-04-09Mark Nipper162009-05-081 Task Description

This has happened a decent number of times on both players when playing back FLAC files. Unfortunately, it’s not consistent either. I’ve had a song pause for a few seconds during playback in a spot, rewind after the song finishes, and the next time through it plays through the entire song with no stutters. I got my H320 first, but within a few songs of using my iHP-120 I also just got, this problem happened.

I searched elsewhere and didn’t see any mention of this. I’m not sure if it’s a general Rockbox issue across players or specific to the iRiver players. Let me know if I can do anything to try to help debug this. I thought it also might have been just the hard drives in the units delaying playback while they were trying to spin up or some such, but I’m not sure how much Rockbox is caching during playback and what the drive activity looks like during normal usage.

It’s worth mentioning that no other plugins were running at the time of these incidents. I’ve got a minimal installation on both players.

10101 BugsMusic playbackVery Low track skipping stops file buffering 2009-04-05Jonathan Gordon62009-06-101 Task Description

start playback, wait for a few sec then skip to the next track. disk activity should stop.. check the buffering debug screen and userfl, alloc and real should all be way below where you would expect (i.e <50%).

the “problem” here looks like the skip track kills buffering. We need to decide if we want to fix this or not.
The biggest annoyance from this is that there will be no next track info until the next buffer… Usually when the buffer is filled the first track that didn’t fit gets its id3 buffered separately so there is almost always something to display. This doesn’t happen until the end of buffering, and because its getting cut short there is nothing loaded, so nothing to display.

apart from that its not really an issue, just makes an etxra buffering earlier than it should

Using Rockbox 3.2, when playing FLAC files shorter than a second causes the following error:
Divide by zero at 01E56B90

Dreamlayers (Boris Gjenero) already located the source of the error so he deserves credit. Forum post of complete findings:
http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=21061.msg147362#msg147362

Here’s the bug, in flac_init():

/* Calculate track length (in ms) and estimate the bitrate
             (in kbit/s) */
          fc->length = (fc->totalsamples / fc->samplerate) * 1000;

That’s integer division, so if the track is shorter than a second, the result is zero. For example, here’s GDB after playing Worms - Jock - Ya Can What Side Yer On.flac, Worms - Jock - Ya Numpty.flac on the r20528 5G iPod sim:

Program received signal SIGFPE, Arithmetic exception.
[Switching to thread 4880.0×818]
0x030a16d5 in flac_init (fc=0x6adfcb0, first_frame_offset=0)

  at /home/Boris/rockbox-dev/apps/codecs/flac.c:175

175 fc→bitrate = ((fc→filesize-fc→metadatalength) * 8 ) / fc→length;
(gdb) p fc→totalsamples
$1 = 16383
(gdb) p fc→samplerate
$2 = 22050
(gdb)

Attached are 3, royalty free, FLAC files that are shorter than a second so whoever takes up this task can test it out.
If any other information is needed please don’t hesitate to ask.

During playback at seemingly any time this event may randomly occur.
What happens is that playback (of mp3) simply switches to strange static noises. These noises sound like radio interference from a semiconductor device, but are not.
During the glitch, volume, play/pause, seek, and all other controls function correctly. If paused and unpaused, normal playback resumes a few seconds before when the event occurs.

I once let it run and I found that
a) It repeats after a couple of minutes
b) Its repeat includes the few seconds of buffered audio

My hypothesis is that it is a buffer overrun in the playback pointer and I am hearing a core dump decoded as if it were audio data.

My player is a 2nd Generation 4GB iPod Mini.

I even tried an automatic install but it isn’t any better…

If anyone can help, that would be great cause I’d love to use something else than Apple’s native crappy application… :(

version: r20193-090303 ; target: ipod 5g 80 gb
Sometimes when I resume a paused song the audio just becomes a burst of static noise. This happens with mp3’s for sure, haven’t been able to test w other codecs yet. The static is not like even white noise, it’s a bit ‘spiky’. It reminds me of the noise I get when I try to play a non-audio file with a audio editor that can load it, like audition.
When paused again and resumed the song plays like it should. The mp3 this most recently have happened with have played perfectly before. Will return with more info on behaviour as I have it.

9980 BugsMusic playbackVery Low bookmarks fail to create when using microSD cards 2009-03-03Bryan22009-03-081 Task Description

I posted this in the “general discussion”… probably did not get a response because I should have put it here… I also do not know if this affects other players that have external card slots.

I use ogg files, and have recently decided to start turning my CD collection into .flac. A little background:

I use “grip” to encode them to flac. I just bought a 16GB microSDHC, which rockbox sees just fine in my Sansa E260R. Can copy files to and from the player using the players interface. Can play music in flac from the card just fine. The problem comes when I attempt to power down the player. The first message says “shutting down”, followed by a second message that says “Bookmark Failed”. The system starts up, and I navigate to the card, only to see no bookmarks.

I tested further. I loaded an .ogg file onto the card, played the song to about halfway, then did a shutdown, I got a “shutting down”, followed by “bookmark failed”. I start up the system, and I go to the card, and I see the directory I copied to the card with my song in it, the flac that I copied to the card, and the .bmark file. selecting the bmark file shows current bookmarks for that artist.

After this, I went to “Recent Bookmarks” and looked, and not only did I see the .ogg that I just made, but also a bookmark for the .flac that I had played before. I could select the bookmark, and play the .flac from the card with no incident. The problem is, there is no .bmark file anywhere on the device for that artist. Not in main memory, or on the card. It created a bookmark, but says it failed to create one.

I believe that it says it failed to create the .bmark file on the card, but somewhere on the device, there is a bookmark created for that song.

Has anyone had this issue? I’m running “r20108-090226”. If there have been updates that address this, I’ve no problem updating…

UPDATE: I updated to r20168-090302, and the problem still exists. the .flac I’m playing off the card still gives a “bookmark failed” when I shutdown, but the bookmark is created and seen under the “Recent Bookmarks”. And I still cannot find the .bmark file that is supposed to be created. I can also confirm the same issue occurs with an ogg file of Antonin Dvorak’s “from a new world”. I don’t have any mp3s to test, but I would imagine the same thing occurs.

UPDATE #2 Originally, I posted that the .ogg file on the microSD card created a .bmark file. this is the case. Later, I attempted to shutdown and create a bookmark using a different ogg file, that did not exist in a sub-directory. This did fail. The bookmarks on the microSD fail only when music files are not in a sub-directory, and I just copy them to the “root” of the card. If I create a directory, and put the files into it, the system creates a .bmark file. Crazy huh?

9949 BugsMusic playbackVery Low r20096 - Song not playing, noise instead 2009-02-24Hector Izquierdo262009-03-078 Task Description

Hi. I’ve just updated to revision r20096. My last revision was prior to r20093. Now, sometimes when the tracks change, the playback won’t start, and strange noises are reproduced instead. The time counter stays at 00:00. Pausing and resuming playback fixes it.

9943 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Odd behavior of "menu" button on ipod5g 2009-02-22Glenn2009-02-24 Task Description

Found a bit of an odd bug, not sure what to put it as so I’ll just explain as best I can.

As a preface, this is with follow playlist on, but I just tried it with that setting off as well with the same results. For some reason I thought it might have to do with that (not sure why I jumped to that conclusion).

1) Start playback
2) Pause
3) Hit menu to go back to the main menu (this is important)
4) Hold play to stop
5) If you press menu again while in the main menu, it will act as though you’ve pressed play (changes to the WPS, playback begins again)

I’m pretty sure this is a bug? Hopefully one that hasn’t already been documented. I’m under the impression hitting menu at that point shouldn’t do anything. I’m also not certain this is just a 5g problem, but since I only have mine to test, I decided to play it safe.

tested with r20083. If this is a duplicate and I didn’t find it, I apologize.

9935 BugsMusic playbackVery Low audio_get_buffer() doesn't make the buffering code mark ...2009-02-21Frank Gevaerts22009-02-251 Task Description

When enabling the “software” USB stack (-DUSE_ROCKBOX_USB), the buffering code (sometimes) crashes with a data abort in update_data_counters() on USB disconnect. This happens especially if the USB connection was established while playback was active.

The software USB Storage implementation uses audio_get_buffer() to get memory to use.
audio_get_buffer() is called *after* SYS_USB_CONNECTED, so the buffering thread is blocked in usb_wait_for_disconnect() (buffering.c:1385) at that time. On disconnect, the buffering thread leaves the switch block and unconditionally calls update_data_counters(), which assumes valid data in the buffer.

9866 BugsMusic playbackVery Low .ogg file(s) reliably crashes Rockbox on Gigabeat F40 2009-02-02MJT72009-07-011 Task Description

I have a Gigabeat F40 running version r19888.090130. I am not using the database feature. On certain .ogg files, the player freezes immediately (zero time elapsed), and must be restarted by switching the battery switch. It is a specific set of files that cause the freeze, and not all .ogg files have the same effect–some play fine. When converted to mp3, the files cause no problem.

I posted this initially in the forum (http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=20456.0), and was advised to open a bug. I can also send a file if you advise how and where.

9854 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Playback is borked after attempting (and failing) to pl ...2009-01-31Anthony Mercuri42011-01-15 Task Description

I’ve reproduced this on r19773 on a Gigabeat S and r19888 on an iPod Video sim.

1. Play any file.
2. While it’s still playing or paused, play one of these two files:
http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/84704/01%20Thumb.mp3 (6.6MiB)
http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/84704/02%20Green%20Machine.mp3 (5.1MiB)
3. The file fails to play, and attempts to play any other file result in the timer staying still at 0:00. Fast Forward, Rewind, Next, and Previous appear to work (all of the WPS except for “track number” is updated), but playback is still “stuck”.
4. Going into MpegPlayer (you don’t have to even play the video, getting to the menu is enough) or listening to the radio fixes it.

The rest of the files in the album act normally and play fine. Here’s one of them:
http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/84704/14%20Yeah.mp3 (75KiB)

It’s not my rip so I’m not sure what encoder/settings were used.

9849 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Playback stutters, crashes player on certain mp3 files 2009-01-29Stephen Drake82009-12-17 Task Description

Sansa e280, daily build from 1/28/2009

On a very small number of my MP3 files, playback at the start of the song will stop and start a few times, usually 3 times, and occasionally crash the player. The playback will start normally, and after about 3 seconds will stop for about 5 seconds, and repeat this 3 times. These files weren’t ripped by me, but they appear to be normal Lame type rips, and play in other players fine. I tried attaching one of the files that does this, but it’s too big - download it here -

9821 BugsMusic playbackVery Low IPOD 20GB Problems with Edifier IPod SPK-EF-IF200 Dock 2009-01-22piet12009-12-17 Task Description

Hi Rockbox Team,

I got a Problem if I try to use my IPOD 20 GB with the Edifier IPod SPK-EF-IF200.

1) If the play is dock into the Alarm Clock Station they want boot
2) You have to remove the Player from the dock and put it back in to boot into rockbox other wise you get a Error Message lock like a orignal apple message.

3) The Most of the time as i try to playback musik with the dock i just hear a HDD clicking all the time and the Ipod freezes.

4) After removing and rebooting the playback works sometimes but moving thru the menu is exterm slow

5) Because I will not boot within the dock I cant set the auto power on feature on the ipod to use this dock to wake up.

thanks

Piet

9820 BugsMusic playbackVery Low wierd behaviour when skipping very fast 2009-01-22Johannes Linke2009-07-03 Task Description

maybe its also not a bug, but ill give a try :)

to reproduce: just press forward+backward very fast while playing a playlist. press them for dear life.

i noticed some weird things, from displaying the wrong title over displaying the wrong title and a wrong “next song:” or a empty “next song” or a freeze while playback is still playing (holding power helped) up to wrong title, empty “next song” and a stuck progressbar. it didnt “move” although playback worked. when i fast forwarded, the progressbar “moved”, when i stopped, the progressbar stopped too.

9819 BugsMusic playbackVery Low Rapid skipping causes next track info to stop updating 2009-01-22Jonas Häggqvist62009-12-16 Task Description

The summary pretty much says it all: My usual listening pattern is to add most or all songs on my player, and skip songs I’m not in the mood for. This occasionally results in a lot of skipping (past say, 5-10 tracks), and while I do this the next track info will stay the same, so if I have a playlist of Track1-Track20, and am listening to Track1, and start skipping, the next track will continue to be Track2. I *think* that the next track info is only updated once I stop skipping and a complete rebuffering to the new location has been done, though this is just speculation.

I’m not 100% sure this happens everytime, but I see it often with my usage pattern.
