FS#1009 - Resume of long playlists does not seem to work properly
I am running Rockbox 1.4 on a Jukebox Studio 20
unit purchased about 2 months ago. I have slightly
under 3000 MP3‘s sorted into two major
directories. Each directory has several
subdirectories. I have three main playlists that I
use. The primary playlist contains over 2200
songs, while playlists 2 and 3 contain about 1000
and 300 songs, respectively.
The problem I am noticing is this. When I use the
main playlist, it refuses to resume at the point of
last play when I turn the player off. I’ve tried all
sorts of ways to turn off the player, and I’ve tried
various combinations of menu settings. Right now,
I’ve got my Repeat set to Off, my Shuffle set to On,
my Resume set to Yes, and my Play Selected option
set to No.
I’m wondering if anyone else has noticed this
problem with large playlists. It’s very annoying to
have the playlist shuffle thru only a few songs over
and over because it keeps resuming at the
beginning of the list. The furthest I’ve been able to
get it to resume is around the 30-40 track mark.
After that, it typically either starts back at the
beginning or it restarts in the 30’s, even tho I’ve
played up into the 100’s. It also seems to depend
on how long I’ve had the player off. If I turn it off
and back on quickly, it seems to pick up again but
if I turn it off and wait for more than 5 or 10
minutes, it does not seem to remember where it
was.
Any ideas?

I use a 7500 file playlist every day, and it works fine for me.
Are all
other settings saved (sound settings etc)?
As far as I can tell, all other settings are saved. I don’t
really do much with the settings since the defaults tend
to be fine. The only thing I’ve noticed is the hard disk
timeout setting seems to be different from what I set it
to but that was set when I first installed Rockbox so it
could be my recollection. The other parameters seem to
be sticking around, tho I’ll now keep a closer eye on it.
I’ve had a problem where the message “unable to read
playlist” comes up now. It used to work fine, but then I put
one of the updated daily builds in and it gives me the
message now. Any idea how to fix this?

RE: unable to read playlist” error
Please update to latest daily build and see if problem still
reproduces.
