DetailsAfter plugging the iPod (5G / 5.5G 60gb Video) into the computer (Linux) and mounting it, the first ls command takes a long time to list directories. Older releases (the last one I believe was 3.2) were much faster. It seems as though the directory listing used to be cached before plugging it in, and now it is not.

Could it depend on the media usage size?
I'm having a difficult time finding the desired performance, however. I backed up and deleted my .rockbox directory, then installed and tested versions 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2 ... each of these versions boot into the OF when plugged in to USB, and all take some time to spin the disk to read the initial directory listing. I recall this being much faster at some point.
Perhaps it was a pre-3.0 daily build? Can I find those somewhere, or have they been deleted? It seems as though only the last 3 daily builds are kept online.
I'm very sorry, it seems I have wasted your time.
Perhaps we can rephrase this FS entry as a Feature Request for the Directory Cache feature of Rockbox is extended to USB directory listings?
