FS#11609 - Computer won't boot with Rockbox plugged in

This is an annoying bug that only popped up after I upgraded to 3.6. I leave my Sansa plugged in for charging purposes, but my computer WILL NOT boot with the Sansa plugged in since installing Rockbox 3.6. If I attempt to plug in my Sansa at any time during my PC’s boot-up process it hangs my machine.

I know this is not a problem pertaining to my computer because I have tested it several times and it only started happening after Rockbox 3.6.

This is a bug in your computer BIOS. It should not let a connected USB device affect its' booting.

It may very well have been triggered by changes introduced in Rockbox 3.6. This does not make it any less a BIOS bug.

I don’t think this is a bug. However, I think it’s pretty likely that your computer is trying to boot of the USB drive (i.e. the Sansa) and fails to do so because of it not containing anything bootable (for example, I had issues with extremely slow bootups myself with a weirdly formatted disk in my PC, so I don’t think having the PC doing weird things because of an attached USB drive that doesn’t look like it’s expecting it is too far fetched.) The problem appearing with Rockbox 3.6 could very well simply be caused by some bugs in Rockbox fixed.
