The same on IPOD 4th GEN COLOR 40 GB
Perhaps an obvious question; is the power/data cable connected when you are trying to shut down?
(I'm unable to recreate this on the mini2g, which is nearly identical hardware-wise to the 4g greyscale..)
Indeed a very obvious question, no problem!
The Power/Data Cable isn't connected when i try to shutdown the ipod.
This could be a hardware problem i better investigate sooner than later.
Also my apologies for replying after a whole month.
I should respond a lot faster the next time.
Sorry if this caused any inconvience.
One more question – are you using an iFlash (or other sort of) SSD adapter?
If you are, please try a recent nightly build; a fix in there for iFlash-equipped player might have solved this shutdown issue.
Git master plus this patch should do the trick:
https://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/c/rockbox/+/3352
I will try the git master plus the provided patch and report back.
Sorry for the late reply.
I tried another iPod 4th gen grayscale With a harddrive instead of an IDE to CF to SD adapter and Rockbox functions normally.
I have tried another unit, a A1059 4th gen Greyscale iPod, Flashmodded with a IDE → CF → SD adapter.
The CF to SD Adapter is an iFlash unit.
This iPod powers off without any problems with the stable 3.15 Rockbox build.
So in my case the problem i had, turned out to be a hardware issue.
The original iPod i reported the issue with, (most likely)had a faulty harddrive cable or a problem with power-management.
Thanks to everyone who provided help and feedback.
