FS#13280 - Clip Zip does not connect properly to PC on the first time (Windows 10)

My Clip Zip does not connect properly to my PC under Windows 10 any more.
Recently, it tries to connect and sometimes disconnects instantly afterwards.
You can hear the connect and disconnect sound on Windows. The Clip Zip shows the
connection screen but is not available under Windows. After disconnecting
the cable it connects properly on the second try.

Seems to work okay now, so closing.

So.. does this work any more reliably with the original sansa firmware?

USB connectivity problems are nearly always due to physical issues with the cable or port.

It worked reliable for a long time in the original firmware as well as in rockbox. This problem was introduced recently. I can't recall when it happened first.

Admin

I don't doubt that it used to work reliably, but again, does it _still_ work reliably with the OF? In other words, we need to eliminate physical issues, because cables (and connectors!) do eventually wear out.

For example, I have several USB hubs that are no longer reliable for USB 3.0 devices, on _any_ port. The USB port on my old Clip+ is loose. And just yesterday, I threw out another microusb cable…

The clip zip does connect without any problem using the original firmware.
With the newest rockbox version 74ae18cc8a the problem seems to be gone.

Admin

Nothing's changed with respect to the clip zip between those builds, but if you say it's working now then I'll go ahead and close this.

For my part, as the problem seems to be gone, you can close this issue.
