There is no error called “rec files”. Did you mean “rec fls:”?
Which version of Rockbox are you running?
How full is your disk (including the silly Windows trashcan)?
Have you run scandisk (or fsck)?
Do you use the Time Split feature?
Sorry, I had to go right after writing the message.
Ver. cvs-031008
and I believe the error was “PANIC rec fls: -15” after
recording in my garage for over an hour on fully charged
2100mAH batteries with the internal mic.
quality = 7
freq = 48khz
source = mic
sterio channels
no ind. frames
time split = off
(gain = 21.0 dB)
I didnt know if you found this error already, but please let me
know if there is anything I can do. Thanks.

extras:
1.656mb buffer
according to rockbox firmware ‘info’ menu:
free: ~4 gb before recording
I have not run scandisk on it
The “rec fls: -15” error suggests that the FAT driver was
unable to update the file entry in the directory, for some
reason. I am unable to say what the error might be, because
this particular error code is incomplete (due to a flaw in
the FAT error reporting, I just fixed that). I would very
much like you to try again, with the latest bleeding edge
version, just to get a more complete error code.
