DetailsMy JBR20 recently died. I bought a new one online.
The replacement JBR20 had a FM form factor, and was advertised on the box as the "V2 edition". The Archos firmware version is 1.40a To my dismay, the JBRv2 will not load up a Rockbox AJBREC.AJZ I've tried: 1) Rockbox for JBR (rockbox-daily-20031117) 2) Rockbox for FMR (rockbox-daily-20031117) 3) An older JBR Archos firmware (1.27d) None of the above load, and the JBRv2 continues to boot its 1.40a firmware. Is this due to hardware differences, or a firmware issue? |
This task depends upon
It is a safety net in the Archos boot loader to prevent
accidental upgrading with an ajbrec.ajz for another model.
We have added support for the V2 model in our scramble
utility, but not yet added the V2 model to the daily builds.
We will do that soon.
Until then, I have compiled today's CVS build for you. It is
actually the FM recorder version of Rockbox. If you are one
of the lucky ones, your device is a real FM recorder in a V2
disguise, and the FM radio will work.

The v2 uses a different scramble algorithm. We support it, but haven't
yet added it to the autobuilder.
The workaround until this is fixed is to descramble a regular recorder .
ajz file and then rescramble it using the -v2 option.
Do NOT scramble a normal recorder build!!! You must use the
FM recorder build.
Firmware from posted link loads correctly.
(Sadly, no radio.)
stuff in CVS now prepared, daily v2 builds will soon appear
