DetailsObserving comments on the quality of the sound,
compared to the native Archos software, I have the following observation: Indeed the sound at the "standard settings" sound a little muffled and the bass has a poor definition. I have my settings at: volume: 70 archos: 3rd notch bass: +6 archos: +2 notches treble: +3 archos: +2 notches loudness: 6 archos: middle bass boost: +30% archos: +2 notches Starting experimenting with the Channel setting (because of a poorly recorded song), I noticed that the "Stereo Narrow" setting gives a better defined sound than the standard "Stereo". In Narrow mode, the sound is very comparable to when running the Archos software. Since the DAC is responsible for the sound, could it be that Archos "Stereo" equals RockBox "Narrow Stereo"? and that actually "Stereo" as defined in RockBox would be regarded "Wide" ? Is this a bug, or interpretation? (not knowing how granular you can control the DAC's settings in this respect). Martin. Keep up the good work. You gave the Archos a new dimension. |

All I can say is that Rockbox has 100% stereo separation in
the normal Stereo mode. This is programmed according to the
MAS data sheet. However, I am planning to introduce fine
tuning of the stereo separation in the future, allowing the
user full control over the channel mix.
This is fixed in CVS.
We close the bug reports when we release the next official
version.
Boy, am I glad that this issue is resolved.
