Rockbox

This one is an update against today’s 3/02/2004 CVS
francais.lng file. It contains “voice” translations. The binary
file is 6300 octets big, you might need to update the
MAX_LANGUAGE_SIZE switch in apps/language.h
The patch is in unified (-u) format

I sent a francais.lang update about a month ago, it seems to
have been deleted without any warning, please tell me if I did
something wrong …

I’m just trying to correct the francais.lang file, this one is the
latest version that I’ll review tomorrow, there may be a new
and final version tomorrow night, stay tunned ;)

This one makes francais.lng a 6307 octet file, which means
the corresponding value in language.h has to be raised before
you can use my language file.

You have changed a lot. I’m not sure that all french guys
will agree about all of those changes. For example, you have
removed a lot of abbreviations so that the menus have to
scroll a lot.

And you have in several places replaced PLAY with LECT. As
far as I know, there is no key named “LECT” on the device.

I just received my Archos FM Recorder back from support,
this translation is a bit out of date, I’ll release a new
one soon !
I’m aware that my translation contains lots of changes, but
some string were mis-translated and required some update.
Considering the “PLAY” button, I can see no label on my FM
Recorder (Maybe the JBR or Player have some labels), no Play
nor Lect button, but in french we say “Lecture” for “Play” and “Lect” would be an abbreviation that would fit into the
menu.

I’ll be working on a new translation from today on, I’m
reactivating my ML account and speak out when it’s finished
;). It will surely contain lots of changes, as the current
french file contains lots of errors (to my opinion) and
lacks some new strings.

Is there some “french circle” arround the Rockbox project,
where we could talk about the french translation with people
using it, or do I have to use the ML ? A translation file
has to be approved by a few francophone users before it gets
released, and I’d like to get some feedback when I release
the update ;)
