I've had persistent problems with mp3 recording.

Today, I got a panic rec wrt 4222 error 2 mins into

I then tried again and got a panic rec file 4 error
after just a couple of seconds.

Using cvs 2004 0602

The errors tend to happen more often when not plugged
in, but can happen plugged in.

I am using line-in recording source.

Sometimes the errors change the default source from
line in to mic.

Recording settings are 44.1 and 5 or 32 and 4.

A quick glance at the rec wrt -4222 error code suggests that
your disk may be full. Please do a scandisk and check how
much space is left. If it really is full, we need to fix our
code, cause it should detect that in a much frendlier way.

disk is not full -- not even close.

I recently got another error, also recording line in with a
powered mic and the gain turned up, after recording fine for
a half hour. when I started again, i got an error that it
could not create the directory where recordings are supposed
to go. Never had this problem since it always records just
fine to the recording directory I made.

I then changed the directory to the main directory and
started recording then, but got panic errors. (trying to
find my exact notes)

I would like you to try this version:

Please tell me if it works better.

Also, please perform a scandisk first.

Using ver 2.3, 44.1Khz, quaity 7, stereo, line-in, I also
had the problem of 'panic rec wrt 4222', but after 45
minutes of recording. Upon restart, unit worked fine for
about 20 minutes then panic'ed again. Upon second restart,
unit functioned fine (2 hrs recording).

Did not notice errors changing source from line to mic. Data
is written for the duration that recording occurred (i.e.,
until panic), which is just *great* :-)

Error is intermittent, and apparently without cause. Could
this be a hard-disk issue? My unit is about 2 years old.

Hmmm, the -4222 error code doesn't mean disk full, it means
that the hard disk failed to write, probably because it was
unable to spin up. It could be a battery and/or battery
connection problem. Try a fresh set of batteries, and also
check on the battery connectors.
