FS#2315 - "Error" Diplayed when track is played

I got RockBox Version 2.2 on my Studio 20. When I hit
play on a song I get “ERROR” on the screen and the song
does not play. It locks up and I have to power down to
un freeze it. Other than that all the menu options and
other stuff works fine.

It sounds like you haven’t installed rockbox correctly. Did
you really unzip the entire archive to the root, or did you
just unzip the archos.mod file?

There should be a directory called “.rockbox” in the root of
your archos.

(btw, it shouldn’t hang, that is a bug that we have fixed in
the daily builds.)

i have the same problem, and perhaps i did not install this correctly. Is it
different installing the archos.mod if i am using a mac?

Project Manager

No, there is no difference, but I can guess from your
question that you probably haven’t followed the installation
instruction.

Did you extract each and every file from the zip file to
your Archos, keeping the same directory structure as the ZIP
file contents?

I had the same problem so I turned it on and connected it to
my computer and, from a dos prompt did: mkdir e:\.rockbox
and then unzipped all the files into the Archos (Studio 10)
and then did a disconnect from my computer (rather than
just pulling the plug in case it was still transferring files).
After that it work fine.

There was also a bug in the splash() function that made the
player crash when displaying the “ERROR” string. This is
fixed in CVS.
