FS#2421 - version 2.4 - no directory - says "installation incomplete"

I am using Archos Jukebox Recorder 20

The archos firmware version number that came with the
unit is version 1.28

HW Info:
rom: 1.28
Mask: 0×0302 USB: Positive
PR: positive
Flash: M=?? D=??
Rom CRC: 0x223F V1
ATA: 0×200, master

I am using rockbox version 2.4

my problem is that when loading up the unit, it says
“no .rockbox directory” and then “Installation
incomplete.” I took my archos’s advice and re
downloaded and reinstalled rockbox 2.4. It gave me the
same result. i am not sure whether this is an archos
specific problem or just mine. After it posts these 2
messages, it does let me get to my music and listen to
it. But every time i select new music to listen to,
those 2 warnings come up again. It is quite annoying.
Another problem that might be related is that i dont
have all of the folders on the main menu. i think i am
missing one or two. thank you for your help! Rockbox
rox my sox!

Unzip the whole zip file. make sure that you get a .rockbox
in the root dir of your music player's harddisk.

Did you follow the installation instructions ans installed
the *entire* zip archive contents on your jukebox? I doubt it.

Anonymous Submitter commented on 2005-02-10 07:16

yeah, this happened to me too – the .zip doesn’t have a .rockbox folder
in it! So I’ve been getting general weirdness and flakiness when I try to
record, etc.

Project Manager

Yes, the zip has a .rockbox folder. Are you by any chance
using a mac? Or are you using a unix flavour?

In that case, unzip the entire zip directly to the jukebox,
don’t unzip it to a temp directory and then copy it to the
jukebox. Otherwise the .rockbox directory will not be copied.
