FS#277 - Power off sometimes doesn't?

Have Archos JB Studio 20 Player , PN / STUDIO 20, SN
0136011xx and Rockbox 1.3. Unit had Arcos firmware
5.03 updated to 5.07.

This has happened twice. May not be a bug, but please
confirm it is "operator error"! - low priority on this one.

Holding the six o'clock "square" on the button disc for
a few seconds should power off the unit.

I have returned, and prepare to power up the unit, only
to find the unit powered on and in the directory select
mode.

Is this possible? If I don't hold the power button
long enough, or possibly press it twice while holding
it off? Could a power spike power the unit on?

I have the unit plugged in to the car cigarette lighter
with the ARCHOS adapte , but since it is ALWAYS plugged
in, I added a small switch on the adapter that breaks
the "+" line when leaving the car overnight (so I don't
overcharge the unit).

That big disc is not a very good tactile button - I
would have made the "ON" button also the "OFF"
button… Blame that on Archos!

Thanks!

Do you visually confirm that the unit actually powers off when
you hold the STOP key, or could it simply be that you hold it
too briefly?

No, I usually just count to "3" or so….

Just wanted to see if there was a POSSIBILITY there could be
an other explanation.

I will make it point to wait till I see "Battery Charging"
next time.

Thanks.
