FS#2875 - Freezes with multibyte chars in tagdatabase
If the tags for a file contain multibyte characters,
like Japanese for example, viewing that info when using
the ID3 database crashes the player (H120). Database is
built with the java version (SongDB.jar).
All other artist/album/etc. info works ok, but just as
I try to view a japanese artist (further down the list,
say), it crashes. Rolling around the list the other way
doesn’t show much except a few garbled characters
instead of artist names, and an immediate freeze after
that.

Tag database support is being removed in
favour of tagcache.

Ok, I converted all info to unicode. Now, everything still
displays fine in the WPS, but the ID3 database displays
seemingly random ascii characters for multibyte artist/
album/etc names. Only random ascii though, seems to be only
capital letters and some other common chars like underscore,
always with a space at the start, and about 1-3 chars
visible.
No crashes for now. I’m thinking the crashes were only
because I forgot to restart. Tried both perl and java
version, on windows. The java version gives stranger
characters, but no more correct.
Perhaps it’s some kind of big-/little-endian issue…
