FS#443 - Remote control not working properly
After installation of release 1.4, the remote control is not
working properly. Some keys simply doesn’t work as
intended. Remote control is a must for me, please let
me know if you may replicate the issue.

Went back to Archos FIrmware 5.8 and problem was
resolved. Re-installed Rockbox 1.4 and remote started
working weird with keys don’t working at all.
You sure don’t give us much information. What are “some keys” and
what does “as intended” mean. Please give us a description of your
problem.
And did you by any chance lock the
keypad?

Let me explain. The Forward and Backward keys, the ones
to skip songs, only worked ONCE after I continiously press
them, afterwards, they stop working. The Play/Pause button
don’t work at all and the volume control, sometimes work and
in some other instances, only pressing the lower volume key
once, lowered the volume all the way to cero.
After that, I decided to eliminate the Rockbox software but
the Archos continued working erratically. Then I took out
batteries for reset and it worked back again (I mean all keys
worked properly from the remote).
Then decided to re-install the release 1.4 (the MOD file), put
the remote and this time the Archos didn’t work with any key
from the remote. It worked using the keys at the player.
Finally decided to take out the Rockbox again, reset the unit
and remote started working back again, so I assume it is
something related with Rockbox firmware.
Regards,
Luis
I’ve got a problem with the remote control too… The » button
skips tracks fine, but when holding it, skips *lots* of tracks,
rather than fast forwarding. I didn’t have the control when I
was using the Archos f/w, so not sure what that did, but it’s
pretty annoying :o(
I have no problems whatsoever with my remote.
I recently purchased a Jukebox 10 and found out about RockBox and
installed it. I too notice that the remote seems to work ‘wrong’ under
some conditions.
Things I’d expect to work the same as buttons on the main unit, but
don’t:
1) Track ff and rev (» «): A single press skips forward/backward 1
song, as expected. An extended press *does not* shift into fast forward
or fast reverse, instead many tracks get skipped. Its as if the firmware is
treating this as a series of single press events instead of a continuous
press. Perhaps that’s the nature of the remote.
2) Stop: Holding stop does not stop/turn off the unit.
The remote control does not work like the buttons on the main
unit. When you hold down a remote button, we get several
“down” events, exactly as if you press the button repeatedly.
It is therefore not possible to make the remote buttons behave
exactly like the main unit buttons.
