I can't seem to find an answer anywhere else, so I'll assume the following feature is not currently available. I have an Archos JB/Studio 20 loaded with Rockbox 2.5. Winamp recognizes playlists (m3u) that contain embedded playlists, but my Archos just thinks that each referenced playlist is a playable file.

A little background. I have playlists set up so that all the songs within a given playlist will fit on a standard CD. This allows me to burn the files to a CD for enjoyment in my mp3 capable car stereo. Typically, each playlist represents a different genre. My rock singles genre, however, spans 6 playlists/CDs so far and is still growing. I created a playlist that simply lists the 6 rock singles playlists. This should allow 60 hours of uninterupted music if I'm so inclined. When hooking up my Archos via USB to my computer, Winamp has no problem playing the "master" playlist. Apparently I have a playlist formatting issue that Winamp overlooks but Rockbox doesn't like, or Rockbox is just not capable of handling embedded playlists.

My other option is to combine the playlists (cutting and pasting with a text editor) into a single playlist. The downside of this is that any revisions to a playlist has to be made twice - once to each playlist.

Obviously not a life or death issue, just one of convenience.

Would love to hear some feedback:
A. What I'm doing wrong, or B. That's a feature that the godlike programmers would love to include in the next release.
