FS#5233 - Shortcut to recording screen
It would be nice to have a button press, or short series of button presses to get to the recording screen directly. It’s always annoying to spend time getting to the screen when you want to record something in the heat of the moment. I can’t speak for other targets, but for the H3xx the REC button seems to be a good candidate.
Also, while I’m at it, I don’t think anyone would argue about moving the sleep timer option closer to the root menu.
I’m pretty sure that both of these are easy to implement.

Here here! I second that and would suggest the iRiver H1xx series get this too.
How about this: press+hold REC button get you into the recording screen.
That would be great.
As a workaround for now, you could have the rec screen show at startup.
Not the best solution generally, but if the unit is off when the heat of the moment strikes it amounts to the same thing.
Thirded. Pressing record button on the H1xx does seem logical to take the user to the recording screen to me. :)
Just to clarify I think a press+hold REC would be best. A short press would make it too easy to accidentally enter the record screen.
