FS#6104 - Backlight Stays off during volume change
A setting thats able to change the if the backlight turns on or stays off in the menu. If you use the volume control alot this can help save battery power.

The patch at
FS#5047implements what you ask and a little more.maybe the above patch could be expanded to add a free configuration of on which buttons the backlight is turned on and on which buttons it stays turned off.
btw:
above patch only covers the first press. imho it does not cover sucessive presses, which we will have when changing the volume.
or did i missunderstand above patch’s functioning? (i couldnt test it, sorry)
the key i, for example, would need to keep the backlight off are forward,back,pause,volume *g*
backlight only on up/down/off/rec or select key
