FS#615 - Russian localization source file (.lang)

I’d like to contribute to the localization version another
one - Russian.
The trouble with the Russians is its 99.9% windows
based cyrillic alphabet tables.
(the ISO and ALT fonts from your site are VERY rarely
usedformats of cyrillic encoding).
That’s why I’m sending you one Unicode sourse file (so
you can easily work on it on any Unicode-speaking
OS), and another already converted to ANSI-1251
(Windows) to be able to display cyrillic (russian)
encoded text if you have a Windows PC wich
cyrillicsupport installed.

The attached font is for displaying ANSI-1251 (Russian
windows) coded characters. I’m already using it - works
great. Little too big, though.The source files are in both:
ANSI-1251 (Windows) and Unicode.

It’s recommended that the compiled file be saved in
ANSI-1251 (Windows) encoding since 99.9% russian ID-
tags and filenames are created in MS Windows
environment.

Alright so how do you make it show russian filenames
properly on recorder?
The fonts you attached and the ones off rockbox site still
don’t show russian right on my Recorder, what do I do?

Your fonts work great! Thanks for doing it! One more thing
though. 5×7 font is kinda small and doesn’t look good. Could
you maybe create 6×8 one? Thanks again.

ILYA! 6×8 is hard to find, 6×8 Cyrillyc bdf is even harder to
find. I can upload here a 6×10. will that do?

Sorry I haven’t replyed for so long - I was on vacation. ( IT
WAS REALLY SWEEEEET).
Russian filenames simply don’t work. The RockBox uses a
different code table for filenames (not windows1251). That
results in garbage in file names. I don’t want to sound stupid
but I never trust file names other then standard latin
characters. I don’t know if anything can be done here from
the RockBox’s side. I’ll ask the guru’s , though.

The late daily builds should use 1251.

that means if you download one of the Bleeding edge builds
from here
http://rockbox.haxx.se/daily.shtml , the files will display correctly.
