FS#6246 - Strafing in Doom (Multiple Keys Pressed)

For RockDoom, on my H10, there’s no way I can strafe seeing as I don’t have enough buttons.

BUT, it would be possible if I were to hold down use (middle button the right side), and then press left or right.

I think this is possible because in the debug menu, holding down multiple keys is recognized as can be seen from the I/O ports.

So I’m wondering if this is possible and can get incorporated anytime soon. Just holding down a button, and then pressing left or right to strafe, and just turn left or right if that button is not held down.

Closing all feature requests.

Oh by the way..

I think you should assign this to Paul_The_Nerd… Because he was boasting that it would only take him five minutes to get it done. ;) :O ;)

here’s your first hint: look at the ‘Related Tasks’ tab.
You could have found this yourself if you had searched here ;)

I actually did read that…

Didn’t help me out. I don’t think this is something I can get done myself..

And there’s no scrollwheel on the H10 :)

There’s no scrollwheel on the H10, but that patch shows how to include strafing as a possibility. With that code already existing, you just need to look at what the patch does, and make the slight change to have it do it with a button combination, instead of scrollwheel motions.

No offence, what I think you guys do is great, but what type of ‘Feature Request’ is it if I end up doing it myself…? That’s saying I can do it myself, which I can’t.

I tried looking at the code yesterday, but it’s impossible for me to understand. I also have no idea what to do with that patch.

If this is possible, i reccomend the FF button on the side of the player.
