FS#6708 - incomplete playback of a mp3 track with Shuffle on.
I randomly, occasionally, have the last bit of a track chopped off during playback, with shuffle mode only. It occurs a few "large" seconds towards the end of a track with music which is quiet in the final stages.
If I play the problem album on its own, with shuffle off, playback is normal.
This occurs with recent builds and older builds going back a while, (can't remember when it started happening).
Shuffle, ON
Raplay Gain on, Track if shuffled.

Crossfade, Off
Fade in out, Off
Tag order V2 V1

how I manage my music;
I remove the tracks I don't like from a album, then retag the remaining tracks so that the number sequence is correct.
I also compile my own "Best Of Albums" and retag the albums accordingly. I have lots of music which I have "culled" like this, and it doesn't happen with every album, so I am certain it's not a tagging issue.
Thanks

do the files itself work fine with a PC player? I have a couple of CDs (mostly recordings from live performances, but also some studio albums) that fade the tracks into each other, and on some of them the track marks are a bit off which in turn makes some files have exactly this problem if not played in the order they have on the original CD. In my case that is caused by the files and not the player itself.
Have / can you check if this applies to your files as well?
There seems to be a real problem – see http://www.rockbox.org/irc/rockbox-20070322.txt starting around 14:54 (discussion between leftright and me)
I have done further listening and I made the following observations.
1). The incomplete playback of a track occurs irrespective of the type of music that is being played, i.e. it chopped the end of a noisy track as well as a quiet track.
2). The "chopping" of a track occurs after a set interval, or number of songs have played. (I was unable to determine if the HDD was being accessed as the unit was tucked away beneath layers)
3). I tried two different playlists with different music, both playlists had more than 80 songs in them, and the bug occurred on both occasions.
4). Playback conditions as stated above in the initial bug report.
5), I have flashed with a recent build, and boot from ROM.
6). I must reiterate, this chopping/incomplete playback of the end of a track only occured with Shuffle On.
Thanks
Joaquim, which build were you using?
I fixed a small problem yesterday that might be related, so please retest with a new SVN or daily build if you need to.
Thanks
Hi Steve,
The above report was with build 29/3/07, I'll update to a recent build and check again.
Many Thanks.
