FS#7084 - bootloader looses rockbox firmware

ipod switches to standard firmware when switched off for few hours

it happens all the time
when ipod goes to sleep it wakes up under standard firmware

it’s not because battery is weak or dead

when it wakes up it already has standard folders (which I removed)
rockbox folder is intacted so running ipodpatcher.exe resolves the issue

the hold switch boots into the OF since quite a while.

how do you shutdown the player? You need to shut it down as described in the manual, not resetting it.

i just left it paused and locked on night
it felt into sleep mode (it was night :)
then in the morning i just unlock it and pres the button to wake it up
ipod started with language selection screen and then showed me regular menu (native firmware)
it happend many times
after reset ipod runs rockbox!

what i discover (i know it sounds stupid) is when i don’t delete standard ipod folders
(calendar notes and so on)then std-ipod firmware doesn’t appear so often

I can confirm this problem as well. I just installed Rockbox on a recently purchased iPod 80 GB. The Rockbox firmware loads fine immediately after patch. After the iPod has been shutdown for a few hours a reset of the iPod is needed to launch ROckbox again.

Did you have your ipod plugged into USB at the time? If you leave your ipod with the hold switch on and power attached, then (because Rockbox doesn’t detect charger power on all ipod models correctly at the moment), it will shut down after the configurable “idle timeout”.

But because power is attached, it will immediately turn itself back on, and because the hold switch is also on, it will start the Apple firmware.

I have a 4gb nano with the same problem. It boots to the apple firmware if I have the hold on and I plug in the USB. Will this be fixed in later releases?
Thanks for all the great work, I finally like my ipod now that I have rockbox!
