FS#714 - Battery over charging
Battery over charging
I have an Archos Jukebox Recorder 10
Rom version : 1.27b
Mask : 0×0302
USB : Positive
ATA : 0×200
PR : Positive
Freq : 11.0592MHz
Versions of Rockbox tried :
bleeding edge v030109_1302
CVS daily build from 27 of Dec. 2002 up to 09 of
Jan. 2003
release v1.4
Batteries : Std Archos Ni-MH 1500 mA
Charger shipped with unit :
Kings Electric Ltd. AC/DC Adaptor
Model : 41G-9-600
Input : 230V 50Hz
Output : 9VDC 600 mA
Positive in centre.
When I connect it to the charger it charges to 5.57v +/-
0.02v then it begins to make a clicking noise of about 8
Hz which becomes louder whenever the screen contents
change, it also begins to get hot. This noise comes from
the unit its self not the speakers, and stops if I
disconnect the charger. At this point the software
believes the battery is only about a third full. Deep
discharge makes no difference, which is as I suspected,
and trickle charge makes no difference. If I turn the unit
off then back on it realises that the battery is fully
charged. Here is what the debug screen says about the
battery during one of these late stages of charging.

Are you saying the noise is not there if you charge with Archos firmware?
It only occures with the rockbox firmware.
