i dont know if its possible, but i noticed that you can not change the volume during playback when the player is set to hold.

imho it would be nice to use the volume-wheel during playback when on hold.

Isn't the purpose of hold to not allow any buttons to work?

yes, but having headphones without volume controll it would be nice to have some way to tune the volume song by song, without turning off the lock every time.

the idea would be to have a configurable setting. telling rockbox on which keys to react during hold.

Maybe there could be a hold in which a random button press is ignored, but constant input on the wheel would control the volume so that walking along, jiggling the wheel, would be ignored, but jumping up or down 3+ db, something a pocket couldn't do to such a wheel, would change the volume. However, when I have my sansa on hold, I expect it to stay on hold. It would be a fine line.
