The long list seems to be from a typo, the old max value for the setting was 0x7e (126 in decimal) see lines 532-538 here in svn it's 0x7e1 (2017), unfortunately changing this back does not stop my sim from crashing, but I'm on 64 bit linux so it might crash for some other reason, gdb tells me that the crash is in strlen()...
BTW I'm not sure about the comment LinusN made about the limit for the max value, what does the rtc ram have to do with this? or does that no longer apply?

I can confirm it crashes my player (Cowon iAudio X5V) I reported this problem a time ago. Curiously, it didn't crash the sim last time I tested, but the only sim I've ever used was in my wife's laptop (WinXP) and not in my Linux nor in my 64 bit Linux.

Nils, agreed that changing the value has nothing to do with it.
ox7e also crashes my sim here (x86-32 Ubuntu)
