The Italian language file has broken encoding. First of all it contains a BOM (byte-order marker) at the beginning of the file. Second of all, a lot of the strings contain broken characters. For example LANG_MDB_STRENGTH (and many others).

Additional comments about closing:  Fixed in SVN. To Alessio Lenzi: If you have pronounciation corrections for italian - could you please add them to tools/ so everyone building voices for italian can benefit from them?
Comment by Jonas Häggqvist (rasher) - Tuesday, 21 August 2007, 20:37 GMT is where things went wrong. It looks like the regular strings are correct now, but voice strings are wrong. For example where the rgular string has a "à", the voice strings has "a'".

Voice strings are not wrong. I put "'" instead of accent for a best pronunciation with italian sinthetizer, please don't modify it. Unfortnately, is very difficult to make sinthetizers speaking a good italian.

I really don't think this is a good way to do it. Correcting for broken TTS engines should be done in the voice-scripts (not possible at the moment, but should be added). The language files should be correct - not modified to work with a specific TTS.

What you say is correct but, as it's a really bad listening, i'd preffer doing so until the script wil be adjusted. At the moment a friend of mine and me we are working to make pronunciation in a script. We ope to solve the problem as soon as possible. So, if it would be possible, I'd preffer not to modify it for the moment.

Corrected in SVN some voice strings as you requested. For italian pronunciation we supply with internal TTS dictionary. I think task could be closed.
