FS#8175 - iPod 4G Color Possible Battery Issues

It seems to do this with every build I have used. After I am done listening to my iPod at night I let it turn itself off and usually late afternoon of the next day I sync and charge it. When my battery gets around 30-40% or lower and I press a button to load it back up from its “deep sleep” mode it will display a bad/low battery image like this:

The thing is that the battery is ok and still has plenty of juice because all I have to do is reset it with the button combination and it works just fine for several hours.

Also this may be related or it may be showing some kind of problem with my battery. When my iPod is fully charged and plugged into the wall outlet it shows 100% battery with 4hr 49min. Is this normal for rockbox? I have seen others go like 7 or 8 hours running rockbox and it’s even on the rockbox site.

This is a bug in Apple's bootloader, before the Rockbox code is even executed. It doesn't happen in normal iPod use so much because deep sleep (i.e. power off) doesn't happen so often then.

I am getting the same problem with my iPod 4G Greyscale. I haven’t been able to pin down the exact circumstances in which this happens (ie not repeatable) but since having RockBox installed I get the dead battery indicator on a regular basis and a hard reset is the only solution. I am running r17041-080408, I will do some further testing to see if I can find the exact combination that creates the error.

I think it’s a problem with the iPod itself, the firmware or something. I upgraded the battery to a 1200mah one (I believe) and I still get the icon, even on a full battery. I don’t honestly think the culprit is rockbox but who knows, it might be the bootloader.
