FS#8899 - nimbus19 with wider capitals
This is a version of nimbus19 with some capitals made one pixel wider so that the gap between the legs of, say, H, has the same width as the legs’ thickness. Please try this and decide whether the font looks better that way (=more readable). If yes, we could provide a nimbus19w version of the font with wider capitals. It could be used on DAPs with large screen width.
The letters changed are: A, B, D, G, H, J, O, P, Q, R, U, V, X. That’s it for now.
If the font doesn’t look nice then this task should be abandoned.

Since the font doesn't look
significantly better with wider glyphs,
I close this.

Thanks Marcoen! What do you think?
IMHO the two variants are nearly the same. Personally I like the wider versions of O, D, V, and G (especially G!) more. These are all letters with two long enough vertical legs. But wider X is worse than the narrow one. All in all, I think the difference isn’t worth the effort of adjusting of all the many glyphs in the font. So that this task can be closed with the resolution “won’t be fixed”. All above modulo “IMHO” of course
The newer J looks a bit weird, and the X isn’t in the screenshots, but the other new letters look nice, from what I’m seeing here.
There is an X: see the last word in the 5th line. And yes, wide J is ugly. But the last two sentences from my last comment still hold.
In the new font, the J and i has one pixel spacing, and V and e also has one pixel spacing only. IMO the font would look better if the spacing is uniform.
