FS#9276 - Modified versio of cabbiev2's rwps remote theme with extra info

I’ve modified the rwps for the cabbiev2 theme to include a bit more information, by trimming the sides from the ‘Now Playing’ bar so that status icons for main/remote hold switches, disc, volume, battery and play mode can be displayed.

Also, I’ve added track number to the track name, replaced the artist with the album name and year in brackets, made the time played/remaining a subline (along with RTC) and used the right-hand side of that line to display the artist. These changes may have less asthetic appeal.

the version of pixelma though… sorry, but is just much better ;)

Why not just upload this to the wiki? Or is your intention that it replaces the existing default version?

I’m in the process of providing a screenshot for the Wiki; I’ll be posting in the ongoing default theme thread shortly.

As for whether it becomes the default; that’s upto you folks… :-)

It feels a bit like hijacking the task (so apologies!) but I’d like to put my version of a new Iriver remote WPS on the line too - and don’t want to start another task, and I would also welcome an opinion of the task starter.

I tried to stay close to a “full screen” cabbiev2 with the status bar at the bottom. Due to the limited space (especially while keeping the font size that’s used on the main display), the now playing and the progress bar are combined. This version uses viewports for positioning and I thought about the possibility to use the sysfont instead of the userfont there but after seeing this on a real Iriver remote I think it’s better not to - the remote’s pixels are not very big.

Attached are: a preview and a zip file which you could just unzip to the root of the player you’re testing on (or to the “archos” directory of a sim).

Nice adaptation of the cabbiev2’s main display’s aesthetics, pixelma.

Something that might be handy would be if a button could be tested for as a conditional, so that pressing a button (hardcoded on a per-port basis) could provide a way of showing more than one piece of information in a single field, and without using timed sublines.
