FS#9510 - Idle Poweroff doesn't exactly poweroff X5

Setting the Idle Poweroff setting seems to work just fine initially because the player ceases to respond to any input. However, when you push the power button back up to turn it on, the screen lights up and says “Shutting down…” for a few seconds before actually powering off. You then have to push the power button back on to turn it on proper.

Upon closer inspection, this issue does not seem to be related to just Idle Poweroff but Poweroff in general. Shutting the X5 down will show “Shutting Down…” in the Rockbox GUI. Moving the Power slider again will show “Shutting Down…” but in the bootloader font and interface. Turning off the player is thus a two-step process.

Please advise if this is a bug or more relevant as support.

I have the same issue here, using daily build 090404 at the moment. Only I noticed it is never shutting off completely, or so it seems. After shutting down, if I shortly move the slider again, it says “shutting down” and goes black. If I repeat this, it happens again and again. Moving the slider for a longer time turns it on again.I noticed this as the player sayd low battery even though I didn’t use it for more then 2-3 hours and had it lying around for a while.
I’d be happy to help with more information.

After several months of using this I finally figured out what’s at issue. The player will consistently display the “Shutting Down…” screen instead of powering up if only a short flick of the power slider is used. I’ve consistently received the same result by quickly flicking the switch on, instead of holding it for up to a second. This issue seems unrelated to the way the player shuts off or idle poweroff.

Is this an intentional feature?
