The way to write this is simply a matter of taste. Perhaps there’s a specifically British English rule for this?
I’m a Brit and I’d leave the Oxford comma out… but I refer you to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_comma and the Vampire Weekend lyric.
