FS#990 - Can't play playlists

Hello,
I’m using a Jukebox Studio 20 GB with jukebox firmware
5.08. I’ve downloaded and installed rockbox 1.4 onto
the device (I copied the archos.mod and the .rockbox
onto the root of the jukebox device) and love it!

The only problem is it won’t play playlists.

When I select a playlist, the device shows that it is
accessing the list, the screen goes blank, and it doesn’t
progress.

If I leave the playlist for a while, nothing happens. If I hit
the stop button I can scroll out of the playlist and play
regular files.

The playlist I use are created in musicmatch. A sample
is:
E:\My Music\Duke Ellington\American Songbook Series
Duke Ellington\Williams, Joe - Rocks In My Bed.mp3
E:\My Music\Duke Ellington\American Songbook Series
Duke Ellington\McRae, Carmen - Don’t Get Around
Much Anymore.mp3

The playlist does work with the jukebox 5.08 firmware,
so I don’t think it is a problem with the list.

Any suggestions? How long should it take to start a
playlist with 30 entries?

Thanks,

This is most likely because you’re using a playlist with
illegal path names to the files. (The Archos firmware deals
with such playlists but 1.4 doesn’t.)

We have added the ability to play such playlists. Try a
daily build to see if it works better.

If not, please provide a playlist to us that doesn’t work.

Hi Badger,

I’ll give the daily build a try. What should a playlist with
archos looklike?

Hi,

I tried the 3/8 daily build and it did the trick! Can you tell me
what a “normal” playlist looks like?

You need to make sure that the paths are correct and
existing. In 1.4 Rockbox did not attempt to cut off any
parts of the given file names to find them on the Archos,
but recent code has had that ability added.
